  1. >because country was at fight with everything. it needed to stop, but the fundament was there.
  2.
  3. Dude, even after CCP took full control and power of China and stopped foreign imperialist domination and stopped China from being held by a leash, the economy was still shit
  4.
  5. This is not because of the past imperialism which was the consequences of Japan and the US's actions. The communist policies of Mao Zedong what were mainly caused this.
  6.
  7. It's not a mystery how the economy went from being OK to catastrophic the moment Mao Zedong launched GLF (Great Leap Forward)
  8.
  9. >yeah, mao did mistakes, he did a blow to birthrates, it was not fatal in the short term.
  10.
  11. I mean that wasn't really an arguement I was actually in support of this policy but ok…
  12.
  13. >look at the history of chineese and russian starvations. starvations were constant through history. after communism won, during the post war building there were final starvations due to failures of new states but it was fixed forever.
  14.
  15. Who do you think caused the starvation of the 60s-70s man… Oh wow what a coincidence, Mao Zedong destroys private farms, destroys cooking tools, and implemented millions of backyard steel furnaces to generate resources, without gaining proper iron, gold, or placing them in environments with proper temperature. You couldn't even eat privately you had to eat a fucking public kitchen with low quality shitty spoons and forks. Those ovens that Mao implemented could only produce sludge garbage and slag.
  16.
  17. >mao gave country everything it needed to become rich, educated and powerful. he did not put that to use in time, but it was there because of him. without him, china would be exactly like modern calitalist india, where pakistan = tibet, shri lanka = taiwan. morally i agree that he was bad.
  18.
  19. Ok, boosting literacy rates and implementing proper education and healthcare was alright. But does this really abolish the rest of the shit he did? Also how does this make him the greatest leader when the other Chinese leaders worked on this too? I think making China become a global superpower is a bigger achievement than making the population be more educated.
  20.
  21. >stalin and mao are the greatest leaders of 20th century, they did mistakes, some pretty terrible, but overall thier goverment was good. main bad thing is repressions against the people and not enough against the goverment, because thats actually the only thing that cant be excused or justified
  22.
  23. Ok I mean I don't disagree with everything Mao did but how is he better than Deng Xiaoping?
