  1. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  2. -- technoBabbler [TB] started pestering merrymentousPerformer [MP] --
  3. [TB]: Hey, how have you been holding up?
  4. [TB]: I've ended up in this incredibly strange place constructed entirely from some kind of green material. Looks kinda like jade, to be honest.
  5. [TB]: Even stranger are the people here, though. They're literally 100% red from head to toe
  6. [TB]: Turns out I can fly in this place, too.
  7. [TB]: Took a bit of practice, kinda like training a muscle.
  8. [TB]: Anyways, I came across a huge protesting crowd around some kind of businesswoman who I think is performing a hostile business takeover
  9. [TB]: Decided I was interested and wanted to learn more, so I trailed the woman into an office building of hers
  10. [TB]: Which brings me to where I am now, hiding in a dark little cranny in the office space just outside the woman's personal office.
  11. [TB]: I figured trying to get into a personal office would be a guaranteed way to get myself caught, so now I'm just waiting things out until she leaves so I can sneak inside the office and have a nice reading session.
  12. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  13. MP: Oh! I know where you are! You're in...I guess probably not Prospit, but somewhere!
  14. MP: Ooooh, corporate espi...espin...spy stuff!
  15. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  16. [TB]: Espionage.
  17. [TB]: And care to explain what Prospit is? I can tell it's at least somewhat similar to this place from what you said.
  18. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  19. MP: Thank you. Um, it's this sorta gold place full of white people covered in shells. There's a queen who's super nice and tall and she loves listening to me tell her about my day even though she's busy with some kind of war and stuff and now I'm helping her scientists. And I can fly and I'm wearing these gold PJs and there's clouds up in this big blue...sun thing that I can see stuff in sometimes.
  20. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  21. [TB]: Sounds pleasant.
  22. [TB]: Excluding the war, but that's...
  23. [TB]: obvious.
  24. [TB]: I'm curious to know what's going on with this woman, though.
  25. [TB]: What kind of hostile takeover elicits such a big crowd of protestors?
  26. [TB]: She had a whole squad of guards while walking outside, too, like she was concerned, if nothing else, about protestor violence.
  27. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  28. MP: I mean, I'd protest if someone took over your family's company.
  29. MP: Whoa, I wouldn't get violent though! I mean, I might throw a tomato, but that's it!
  30. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  31. [TB]: Thankfully none of the protestors actually did get violent. It certainly looked like they almost wanted to, however.
  32. [TB]: But going off your suggestion, I'd have to wonder just how many businesses or how big this one is for such a huge crowd to be surrounding her.
  33. [TB]: It feels like if [insert local customer-friendly pharmacy] back home was suddenly bought out by [big, nasty pharma]
  34. [TB]: With all the unwanted ramifications included.
  35. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  36. MP: Maybe that's what it is. While you're in the closet, maybe try to listen to what she says.
  37. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  38. [TB]: Just a cranny, not a closet.
  39. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  40. MP: You're smart. Hearing her corporate talky stuff might let you know what's going on.
  41. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  42. [TB]: I'm in the room outside of her personal office, so as much as I'd like to pry some more, any closer than where I am would just get me caught.
  43. [TB]: Hence why I'm whiling away the time by contacting you. Once she leaves, I'll be able sneak into her office and learn what I can from any documentation she has.
  44. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  45. MP: Awesome. But I mean she might be saying things now and you might be able to hear through the walls or whatever.
  46. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  47. [TB]: Too far away from the door to her office.
  48. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  49. MP: Dang.
  50. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  51. [TB]: Nothing much else I can say about my current situation, though. Why not tell me a bit more about your time on Prospit?
  52. [TB]: Like the scientists and that large blue sun thing.
  53. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  54. MP: Oh, also. I don't know if this is obvious or whatever, but you're kinda dreaming now. I don't think that makes it not real or anything though. I met the troll girl here.
  55. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  56. [TB]: Mariah?
  57. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  58. MP: Yeah, I think that's her!
  59. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  60. [TB]: Can't say I'm surprised at the dreaming aspect, although it puts everything into a weird light. I did collapse the moment I figured everything and everyone were safe enough.
  61. [TB]: It's gonna be weird to never really sleep
  62. [TB]: Always awake, at least in a sense
  63. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  64. MP: Oh, that explains why you haven't talked about the place you ended up. I've only been asleep a little while yet. Most of the stuff I did I did awake.
  65. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  66. [TB]: I can at least tell you a bit about where we initially ended up.
  67. [TB]: It was a courtyard of sorts.
  68. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  69. MP: Huh. Cool. Mine I think is a big tree made of metal with candles on the branches and fog and really nice rooster people. And below the trees there are lots and lots of books.
  70. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  71. [TB]: Rooster people?
  72. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  73. MP: Although...now that I think about it, the trunk may just go up and not all the way down and I could actually be on a candle holder in the sky?
  74. MP: Yeah! They're people who are roosters!
  75. MP: And some of them are girls, but they still look like roosters.
  76. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  77. [TB]: Like humanoid roosters you'd see in furry art or people with roosters for heads?
  78. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  79. MP: Closer to the first one I think. Hang on, I think the video of my fight with the big candle bug has Jaz in it
  80. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  81. [TB]: Candle bug?
  82. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  83. --merrimentousPerformer has sent giantbugfight.mp4--
  84. --giantbugfight.mp4 contains some very poorly shot video (seriously, it seems like the camera was being hung upside-down or something) of Gail and what looks like a rooster with an axe fighting a giant beetle with a candle on its back.--
  85. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  86. [TB]: Oh, quite literally a candle-bearing bug
  87. [TB]: So more roosters with human levels of sapience and apparently also opposable thumb-tier function of their limbs?
  88. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  89. MP: Yeah!
  90. MP: It still kinda works like a video game. Like the candle I climbed was full of puzzles and stuff.
  91. MP: So I think that this place is kind of real and also kind of a game and also also sort of a dream.
  92. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  93. [TB]: Fuck me, what am I going to do about all the people I brought with me?
  94. [TB]: I don't have a clue if they're in on or a part of or even affected by this "game" in the same way we are.
  95. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  96. MP: I've kinda wondered about that with my mom too. I ended up in a city, so at least she won't be lonely. And she has Tarotsprite to talk to too. Though I don't think they have computers, so I don't know what she'll do with herself.
  97. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  98. [TB]: Your sprite can talk?
  99. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  100. MP: I think so. They don't have, like, a lot to say. But I think they said something.
  101. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  102. [TB]: Interesting to know.
  103. [TB]: I guess I'll just have to figure something out when I "wake" up, I guess. I'm responsible for these people now.
  104. [TB]: Not too different from what I'd eventually be doing, in a way.
  105. [TB]: It's just that I'm responsible for their lives instead of their livelihoods.
  106. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  107. MP: ...wow. You're really important.
  108. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  109. [TB]: As important as the heir to a business in a now destroyed world can be.
  110. [TB]: If not destroyed, then definitely badly damaged by all kinds of meteors.
  111. [TB]: And rampant anarchy.
  112. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  113. MP: I never thought about that. Not yet at least. Our world is...super gone.
  114. MP: Or maybe we're kinda gone from it.
  115. MP: I feel like maybe something's a little wrong with me though because it doesn't hurt as much as I feel like it should? It's kinda hard to think about. Like, not hard like it hurts, but hard like my brain goes around it a bit.
  116. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  117. [TB]: Probably for the better. What's done is done, and we've got more immediately important things to worry about.
  118. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  119. MP: Yeah. Speaking of
  120. MP: This is kind of like a video game or a dream or something and you're hiding in an office building. So maybe there's big vents you can climb through. You're bigger than me, but maybe you can still do it.
  121. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  122. [TB]: Honestly, I doubt it, but it's worth a try if I can find one.
  123. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  124. MP: Okay! Good luck with your Espionage. I think I'm gonna have to fight a robot or something.
  125. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  126. [TB]: Why's that?
  127. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  128. MP: 'cause testing things is the best way I can help the science guys.
  129. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  130. [TB]: Is it some kind of military drone?
  131. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  132. MP: I dunno. They just mentioned having lots of robots and a "Mark ZX prototype"
  133. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  134. [TB]: What kind of robot needs to be fought to be tested?
  135. [TB]: It just sounds impractical.
  136. [TB]: And a risk to the wellbeing of a number of people
  137. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  138. MP: Could also be a ray gun or a watch or a potion though.
  139. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  140. [TB]: That just begs the question even further if it's not some kind of automaton.
  141. [TB]: Again, what kind of machine needs to be fought for testing purposes?
  142. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  143. MP: I don't know if I'm gonna fight it. I just kinda figured that if it was a robot I was gonna fight it.
  144. MP: Because that's what you do with robots. You fight 'em.
  145. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  146. [TB]: But why?
  147. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  148. MP: I dunno, I had to fight a bunch of little dudes and big dudes and a big bug thing. Maybe I'm just used to fighting stuff that explodes into hexagons now.
  149. MP: Oh! I forgot to mention! I can light up now! And I have a magic fire leotard and fire knives!
  150. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  151. [TB]: Sounds very dangerous
  152. [TB]: How'd you even manage that?
  153. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  154. MP: I listened to what a smart rooster dude had to say and told them about me being the Heir and stuff and then went up a giant candle and made it's light brighter and warmer by glowing at it.
  155. MP:...actually, now that I say that it sounds kinda weird.
  156. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  157. [TB]: I guess it's just part of thise being a "game."
  158. [TB]: How did you get the leotard and knives, though?
  159. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  160. MP: Mister smart ready rooster gave me the knives. The leotard was inside of the candle thing, right before the big bug room.
  161. MP: Oh, maybe if I'm lucky I'll find a computer or charger or something. I need a way to keep on being your server and seeing if you need things while I'm away from home.
  162. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  163. [TB]: True. Maybe see about getting a laptop, then.
  164. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  165. MP: I have a laptop, it's just its charge I'm worried about.
  166. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  167. [TB]: True enough.
  168. [TB]: Sorry if this is intrusive, but is the leotard awkward to wear?
  169. [TB]: I can't for the life of me imagine a sensible way to wear a leotard on top of or underneath my own clothes
  170. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  171. MP: No, it fits me perfectly! Like, super perfectly. And it's super sparkly!
  172. MP: Leotards are my normal clothes.
  173. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  174. [TB]: ...While I understand that, don't you have casual or more comfortable clothes?
  175. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  176. MP: I do. I mean, a lot of times teachers would get mad at me if I wore skirts and leotards to school. They'd say I was "distracting" the boys. But I like wearing my circus uniform better than normal clothes.
  177. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  178. [TB]: That's fair enough. I can't say I'd particularly disagree with the teachers if only they weren't going on about the tired excuse of "distracting others," which is a tired excuse, since uniforms and dress codes were originally for preparing kids for work uniforms and dress codes.
  179. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  180. MP: Oh, really? I didn't know that!
  181. MP: Well, in that case, it makes perfect sense for me to dress like this, right? 'cause this is what I wanna be when I grow up! This is what I'll wear when I work.
  182. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  183. [TB]: Yeah, according to what I looked up and learned from my parents.
  184. [TB]: If I were in a teacher's position, I wouldn't really care so long as you behaved and weren't going so far as borderline exhibitionism.
  185. [TB]: Performance and Attitude are far more valuable than someone's dress ettiquette most of the time
  186. [TB]: Not to understate its importance, though.
  187. [TB]: Presentability is always important in creating good impressions.
  188. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  189. MP: That's why I always present myself as awesomely as possible!
  190. MP: Wait, I should have said present myself as Able-ly as possible, damn!
  191. MP: Anyway, don't worry, if you find clothes for you, they'll be, like, dapper suits or stuff
  192. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  193. [TB]: I'd honestly prefer they not be.
  194. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  195. MP: I don't think you'll get an awesome sparkly leotard.
  196. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  197. [TB]: Suits are in no way appropriate to be doing whatever I'll be doing in
  198. [TB]: Especially if it involves fighting monsters like you've been doing.
  199. [TB]: The stiff shoulders and seams, the inflexible designs
  200. [TB]: It'd be hell to try any kind of acrobatic movements in.
  201. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  202. MP: Oh, I didn't know suits were that hard to wear. I've never tried one on.
  203. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  204. [TB]: I've worn a few in recent times to meetings and formal gatherings with my parents.
  205. [TB]: They're meant to look good.
  206. [TB]: And not much else.
  207. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  208. MP: Ooooh. Then it'll probably just be something you like to wear. Or maybe a suit made to be all cool and suave and stuff, but still be super movey and stuff
  209. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  210. [TB]: I'll admit that would be pretty cool.
  211. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  212. MP: You're a business guy, that'd be so useful for you!
  213. MP: ...Hm. Hey, do you think there's a way to make holey thing maker cards out of regular captcha cards with stuff in them?
  214. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  215. [TB]: Think you could elaborate?
  216. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  217. MP: Like, when we did the thing with the alchemiter and the card and the crystal and all that, the alchemiter made a thing, right?
  218. MP: It's kinda weird to have all those big machines and only use them once
  219. MP: So I wonder if there's a way to use them again. And the little card thingy kinda looked like a captcha card.
  220. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  221. [TB]: I figured. I don't think the Lathe, Alchemiter, or Cruxtruder have a hole-punching function, though. There might be another machine for that purpose.
  222. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  223. MP: Maybe I'll see if there's new machines I can put down! Oh, are you part of my memo yet?
  224. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  225. [TB]: I've been a bit preoccupied to read it as of late, but I'm still there.
  226. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  227. MP: Okay, just wanted to check
  228. MP: I talk about stuff that's happening a lot there.
  229. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  230. [TB]: Just took a quick glance.
  231. [TB]: Can't say I was expecting the leotard to also be on fire
  232. [TB]: Do you even feel any warmer from the flames?
  233. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  234. MP: No. At least, not that I noticed
  235. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  236. [TB]: Can they catch anything on fire?
  237. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  238. MP:...goooood question. I know my knives can, but I dunno about my leotard.
  239. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  240. [TB]: This is truly an unrivaled bizarre set of circumstances we've all ended up in.
  241. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  242. MP: Yeah. But I don't think my life was ever supposed to be normal. Yours kind of was, so it's a bigger deal for you than me.
  243. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  244. [TB]: Can't argue with that
  245. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  246. MP: But I'm glad you're somewhere where corporate stuff happens, it means it's stuff you're good at!
  247. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  248. [TB]: Well, stuff I was studying to get better at.
  249. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  250. MP: I think you're good at it
  251. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  252. [TB]: Thanks. At least I have my parents and others back home to help.
  253. Gail Rhodnais (MP) (Elacular)02/06/2019
  254. MP: I'm gonna go fight a robot or wear a watch or something. But you keep doing your best, Jakob. I think you're going to be great. Whatever you end up being or doing.
  255. Jakob Princeton [TB] (tzivos)02/06/2019
  256. [TB]: Thanks for the encouragement. Stay safe with the robot.
