  31. - INTRODUCTION
  32. -
  33. - This guide maps eFootball’s documented controller commands to common PlayStation and Xbox-style gamepads used with the Steam version.
  34. - It explains the role of each standard button and stick, covers match actions and set pieces, clarifies the documented Start/Menu/Options function, and identifies menu controls and platform-specific inputs that Konami does not fully specify.
  35. - Its purpose is to provide a clear reference while directing players to the in-game Command List for configuration-specific prompts.

  56. -
  57. - 1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE
  58. - This guide gathers the controller commands published by Konami in its official eFootball Controls Manual and presents them for common PlayStation and Xbox-style gamepads used with the Steam version.
  59. - It covers each standard gamepad button and stick, match commands, the Pause Menu, menu navigation limits, attacking, dribbling, passing, shooting, feints, defending, goalkeeper actions, set pieces, tactics, and replay or skip commands.
  60. - Konami's official manual uses numbered controller symbols. The mapping below translates those symbols into familiar PlayStation and Xbox labels.
  61. - Konami marks some entries with an asterisk to indicate that the command differs between mobile and console/PC. Those entries are flagged in this guide; confirm them in the Steam in-game Command List before relying on them.
  62. - Button prompts can differ with the controller, Steam Input, and the game's active control configuration. The in-game Command List for the installed Steam build is the final authority for the player's exact setup.
  63. - Konami does not publish a complete Steam main-menu button map in the cited manual. Where a Steam menu binding is not documented, this guide says so explicitly instead of presenting an unverified button as fact.
  64. -
  65. --
  66. -
  67. - 2. BUTTON LEGEND
  68. - The left stick controls player movement and directional inputs. The right stick controls feints, manual cursor changes, set-piece curl, and penalty direction where specified.
  69. - D-pad means the controller's directional pad.
  70. - Playstation symbol | Xbox equivalent | Common name
  71. - Circle (○) | B | Button 1 in Konami's numbered legend
  72. - Cross (×) | A | Button 2
  73. - Square (□) | X | Button 3
  74. - Triangle (△) | Y | Button 4
  75. - R1 | RB | Button 5
  76. - R2 | RT | Button 6
  77. - L1 | LB | Button 7
  78. - L2 | LT | Button 8
  79. - Right stick (RS) | Right stick (RS) | Button 9 when pressed or moved
  80. - Left stick (LS) | Left stick (LS) | Button 10 when pressed or moved
  81. - Options / Menu button | Menu / Start button | Button 11 in Konami's numbered legend
  82. - Use the PlayStation or Xbox column that matches the prompts shown by your game. On a Steam Deck or a third-party gamepad, use the button Steam Input maps to the corresponding game action.
  83. -
  84. --
  85. -
  86. - 2.1 EVERY STANDARD BUTTON: WHAT IT DOES IN eFOOTBALL
  87. - Cross (PlayStation) / A (Xbox) | Low pass in attack; Pressure in defense; replay/skip; also the usual accept button only when the current screen displays that prompt.
  88. - Circle (PlayStation) / B (Xbox) | Lofted pass or cross in attack; Sliding Tackle in defense; also the usual back/cancel button only when the current screen displays that prompt.
  89. - Square (PlayStation) / X (Xbox) | Shot in attack; Shoulder Charge against an opponent dribbling, or Clear in the documented defensive context.
  90. - Triangle (PlayStation) / Y (Xbox) | Low Through Ball in attack; hold to make the goalkeeper run toward the ball in defense.
  91. - L1 / LB | Cursor Change in defense; Chipped Through Ball; forward One-Two Pass; Chip Shot; also a modifier for specified feints.
  92. - R1 / RB | Controlled Shot; Pass-and-Run; Call for Pressure in defense; Kick Cancel when combined with R2 / RT.
  93. - L2 / LT | Finesse Dribble in attack; Match-up in defense.
  94. - R2 / RT | Dash while moving; Quick Stop when held after releasing LS; Stunning Pass/Shot/Cross when fully pressed with a kick; set-piece trajectory selection; also the documented direction-to-goal receiving command.
  95. - Left stick (LS) | Move/dribble; direct player movement, advanced-feint directions, set-piece aim where specified, and penalty direction. Pressing the stick inward (L3) has no separate command listed in Konami's published controller manual.
  96. - Right stick (RS) | Advanced/easy feint input, manual cursor change, set-piece curl/power, trap feint, and penalty-save direction as specified. Pressing the stick inward (R3) has no separate command listed in Konami's published controller manual.
  97. - D-pad Up / Down | Press twice to increase / decrease Attack/Defense Level. Konami says only the Co-op leader can configure this in Co-op matches.
  98. - D-pad Left / Right | No separate in-match function is listed for these directions in the cited official controller manual. A menu may use them only if its on-screen prompt indicates that function.
  99. - Start / Menu / Options (Konami button 11) | Opens the Pause Menu during a match; cancels a Quick Restart at the listed set pieces. On an Xbox-style controller this is the small Menu button, not the central Xbox Guide button. On a PlayStation-style controller it is Options, not the central PS button.
  100. - View / Back / Select, Share / Create, Xbox Guide / PlayStation button / Steam button, touchpad click, and rear paddles | No separate eFootball command for these hardware controls is listed in Konami's manual. Guide/Steam buttons may open platform overlays or system interfaces; those are not eFootball menus.
  101. -
  102. --
  103. -
  104. - 2.2 WHICH BUTTON ENTERS THE MENUS?
  105. - During a match, press Start / Menu / Options (Konami button 11) to open the Pause Menu. This is the documented gamepad menu command.
  106. - The official sources reviewed do not define one universal gamepad button that opens or confirms every page of the Steam main menus. Use the button prompt shown on the screen; Cross / A is a common confirm action only where the game displays it as confirm.
  107. - Steam lists eFootball as having Partial Controller Support. Therefore some screens or setup steps may require a mouse or keyboard; do not assume that every menu is reachable with the gamepad alone.
  108. - Pressing the central Xbox Guide, PlayStation, or Steam button is a platform/system action, not the documented eFootball Start/Pause command.
  109. -
  110. --
  111. -
  112. - 3. CORE MATCH COMMANDS

  138. - One-two pass (forwards) | L1 / LB + Cross (×) / A
  139. - Pass-and-run (cross over) | R1 / RB + Cross (×) / A, or R1 / RB + Triangle (△) / Y
  140. - A stunning kick requires the trigger to be fully pressed. The command also has a longer kicking motion, so the player may need space before the ball is released.
  141. -
  142. --
  143. -
  144. - 3.3 Shooting and kick cancellation
  145. - Standard shot | Square (□) / X

  149. - Kick feint | Begin a kick command, then enter Cross (×) / A before the kick is made. Konami marks this command as platform-dependent.
  150. - Kick cancel | Begin any kick command, then press R1 / RB + R2 / RT before the player kicks the ball.
  151. - Goalkeeper high punt | R2 / RT + Circle (○) / B; the power gauge is fixed.
  152. - Direction and power for ordinary kicks depend on the chosen direction and how long the kick button is held. Follow the on-screen gauge and the in-game command display.
  153. -
  154. --
  155. -
  156. - 4. FEINTS AND ADVANCED DRIBBLING
  157. -
  158. --
  159. -
  160. - 4.1 Easy or Smart Feint Command Type
  161. - Move RS in the direction in which you want to feint. The game selects a feint based on the player's skills, situation, and input.
  162. - Smart Assist can also automate or guide evasive dribbling; see Section 9.
  163. -
  164. --
  165. -
  166. - 4.2 Advanced Feint Command Type
  167. - The official manual describes these commands relative to a player moving toward the right of the screen. Reverse left and right when the player attacks in the opposite direction. Diagonal directions are relative to the player's forward movement.
  168. - Marseille Turn | Hold RS right; move LS down/down-right, or up/up-right
  169. - Double Touch | Hold RS down (or up); then move LS right, down-right, or up-right
  170. - Draw and Open | Hold RS left; then move LS down or down-right
  171. - Draw and Close | Hold RS left; then move LS right or up-right
  172. - L Feint | Hold RS left; then press LS up. Requires the Cut Behind & Turn player skill.
  173. - Scotch Move | Hold RS left; move LS down-right or right. Requires the Scotch Move player skill.
  174. - Out & In (Flip Flap) | Hold L1 / LB and RS down-right; then press LS up-right
  175. - Scissors Feint | Rotate RS from up to down in the forward direction, or from down to up in the forward direction; immediately move LS right, up-right, up, down-right, or down. The number of step-overs depends on the timing of the LS input.
  176. - Body Feint | Tap RS up or down, then release
  177. - Step-over | Rotate RS from left to right
  178. - Chop Turn | Hold L1 / LB; press LS up-right or down-right
  179. - Rainbow Flick | Press RS twice
  180. - Trap feint | With Feint Command Type set to Advanced, release LS and, before the player traps the ball, continue to press RS in the direction the ball is moving.
  181. - These are directional commands, not universal button sequences. Player orientation, approach direction, player skills, and timing affect the animation and result.
  182. -
  183. --
  184. -
  185. - 5. DEFENDING COMMANDS
  186. - Move the selected defender | Tilt LS

  191. - Sliding Tackle | Circle (○) / B
  192. - Clear the ball | Square (□) / X when the opponent does not have possession and the ball is in your own half
  193. - Cursor change to another player | L1 / LB
  194. - Manual cursor change | Move RS toward the desired player; the cursor moves to the closest player in that direction
  195. - Call for Pressure / teammate pressure | R1 / RB. Konami's manual says this command cannot be used in Co-op mode.
  196. - Make the goalkeeper come off the line / run toward the ball | Hold Triangle (△) / Y
  197. - Match-up positions the defender to confront the ball carrier and block likely passing or shooting lanes. Enter a direction with LS to adjust the defender's position.
  198. -
  199. --
  200. -
  201. - 6. GOALKEEPER COMMANDS
  202. - Goalkeeper runs toward the ball | Hold Triangle (△) / Y while defending
  203. - Goalkeeper high punt when in possession | R2 / RT + Circle (○) / B; the power gauge is fixed
  204. - Clear the ball in your own half | Square (□) / X when the opponent does not have possession
  205. - The official published manual does not list a separate Steam gamepad command for every goalkeeper action or every keeper animation. Use the in-game Command List for any additional prompt shown by the active match situation.

  270. -
  271. - 9. SMART ASSIST AND COMMAND BEHAVIOUR
  272. - Smart Assist is an optional console/PC setting found under Extras > Game Settings > Controller > select the controller > Detailed Settings > Smart Assist.
  273. - When enabled, Smart Assist can guide dribbling away from nearby defenders and toward the field, choose a more open passing target, automatically change a pass to a stronger or lofted type when appropriate, and determine shot power and trajectory.
  274. - In defense, Smart Assist can automatically clear the ball in dangerous situations and help a Match-up defender position in front of the opponent with the ball.
  275. - Konami’s 2026-08-12 v6.0.0 notes described an automatic Dynamic Volley in a particular high-ball situation with Smart Assist active; those notes are not a separate Steam button binding.
  276. - Smart Assist changes how some inputs are interpreted. Treat the in-game Command List and the visible Smart Assist setting as authoritative for a given match.
  277. -
  278. --
  279. -
  280. - 10. PLATFORM, CONFIGURATION, AND MODE NOTES
  281. - The Steam store page lists eFootball as having Partial Controller Support and recommends a controller for play. Konami's official manual contains a “Detailed Specifications (Console/PC)” section, which is the basis for the match-command tables in this guide.
  282. - Button labels may be displayed as PlayStation symbols, Xbox letters, or Steam Input labels. The physical button's function is determined by the active mapping, not by the printed label alone.
  283. - Konami's Controls Manual marks commands that differ between mobile and console/PC with an asterisk. This guide preserves those warnings for dash dribble, Sombrero, low cross, kick feint, and selected set-piece direction inputs.
  284. - The Controls Manual's separate mobile-support warning about controller availability and menu use applies to mobile. It must not be treated as a rule for the Steam version.
  285. - Konami's manual states that Call for Pressure is unavailable in Co-op and that only the Co-op leader can configure the Attack/Defense Level.
  286. - Controller command availability can depend on the match state. Attack and defense actions assigned to the same face button change with possession and context.
  287. - The Steam in-game Command List can expose additional event-specific or build-specific prompts. Open it during a match and compare it with the control setup used in Extras > Game Settings > Controller.
  288. -

  290. -

  298. -
  299. - 12. VERIFICATION AND SOURCE RECORD
  300. - Research checked on 2026-10-26. The controls below are transcribed from Konami's published manual and matched to the Steam product page; this is a dated guide and should be refreshed after a game update that changes controls.
  301. - Primary source: Konami, Controls Manual (English), https://www.konami.com/efootball/en/page/mobile_controller
  302. - Primary source: Konami, Let's Play eFootball / Smart Assist controls, https://www.konami.com/efootball/en-us/page/overview
  303. - Primary source: Konami, eFootball v6.0.0 update information, 2026-08-12, https://www.konami.com/efootball/en-us/topic/news/5632
  304. - Product reference and controller-support status: eFootball on Steam, https://store.steampowered.com/app/1665460/eFootball/
  305. - The source manual's button numbers map to the PlayStation and Xbox equivalents in Section 2. The game itself may display different prompts for the connected controller.
  306. - Start/Menu/Options as the Pause Menu command is documented by Konami. The gamepad mappings for every main-menu button are not specified in the sources reviewed; the guide identifies that limit rather than guessing.
  307. - Konami's manual does not provide a permanent PC key map for every menu or special event prompt. This guide therefore identifies action-button-only items instead of fabricating gamepad bindings.

  378. - 1. OBJECTIF ET PÉRIMÈTRE

  409. - 2.1 CHAQUE BOUTON STANDARD : SON RÔLE DANS eFOOTBALL
  410. - Croix PlayStation / A Xbox | Passe à ras terre en attaque ; pressing en défense ; replay/passage ; bouton d’acceptation habituel uniquement si l’écran l’indique.
  415. - R1 / RB | Tir contrôlé ; passe-et-va ; appel au pressing en défense ; annulation d’un coup de pied avec R2 / RT.
  416. - L2 / LT | Dribble précis en attaque ; Match-up en défense.
