  20. Garnet waits for a moment, then drops her outstretched fists.

  22. She takes a single leap, landing with a snowy-thump near Eri's body, and quickly takes the glowing green gem in her red, armored hand, the egg so very precious and delicate in her cupped grip. Its light reflects in her shades, and Garnet looks down at Eri's body, at her clothes, again, as all those nights ago, seeming like a normal girl. Her attention is diverted by the flash of Kyouko and Sayaka's battle, and her hand closes over the soul gem, but she stays where she is, not absconding with it, but seeing who stands from an highly emotionally charged conflict between Red and Blue Puella. Is there a familiar feeling in their collision? Maybe. She'll check later...

  53. Eri falls, and Kasagami notices. The young woman notes that Utena too has fallen! But she doesn't see too much blood, and she thinks there's bleeding. As much as she'd like, she can't exactly go rushing for the pinkette.

  55. Worst still, Garnet is reaching over for something of Eri's! Kasagami is still new to 'Puella Magi Are A Thing', and so a soul gem is an unknown quantity. But she sees an enemy kneeling over an ally. And so, with the last few bits of her flagging strength, she leaps over towards Garnet! She's basically trying to tackle Garnet to the ground, though more with pure speed and that burst of flying rose petals behind her than any kind of weight given Garnet's bulk.

  57. Both the back of her blade and it's sheath are aimed for Garnet's neck as she tries to tackle the bigger Gem to the ground!

  84. So many things race at the back of Mami Tomoe's thoughts at the moment, from the feeling of that awful attack earlier to the certainty that if she missteps here, she could join the dead herself.

  86. Even in this frigid, awful version of Shinjuku, that's a very motivating certainty for Mami.
  87.  
  88. The cold has seeped right into Mami's bones, like her skin is getting frigid temperatures from either side by now. The icy wind stings her face, her fingers, that were already stiff when warmed by the action of her rifles and now have none of that going for them. Frost still clings to golden curls, but Mami's eyes are anything but frozen; dull, dull like the flower pin on her hat, but not frozen. She turns her head and sees Mikoto charging at her, Sailor Pluto no longer in sight. Mami takes in a sharp breath and starts readying to move--

  90. She slips, and Mikoto's sword is all too eager to meet her on her way down. "Aaah--" Mami starts to scream again, cuts it off tumbling to the side and to the ground, rolling with her momentum and leaving fresh blood on the snow, deep gashes in both of her legs that combined with the snow getting into them are debilitatingly painful. There's a hiss as she tries to stand and can only sit up in the moment.

  92. It would be nice to make a speech, or some good final words, but none of them come to mind she could say fast enough. Mami lets action speak for her; she conjures one rifle, fires with both hands, throws it away, conjures another, fires, throws it away, teeth gritted and eyes wide as she spends magic she already decided she didn't /have/ to try to drive Mikoto back. The shots are for her arms, her legs, and her center, trying to shoot around the gigantic sword to slow Mikoto down.

  125. It's not the first time that Garnet has been... bemused by Kasagami's behavior, but tonight there's no time for that. Kasagami hurls herself at Garnet and hits her with a satisfying thump, but after Eri's vine attack especially, Garnet has a significant size and bulk difference, being perhaps, several, several weight classes above the disciplinarian. Garnet moves just enough to keep Kasagami's blade away from her neck and use the momentum to the tackle to bump her off with her shoulder.

  127. She looks down at Kasa, and quickly, before the duelist can redouble attack, speaks: "Look around you, everyone, at the reality of war."

  129. Garnet opens her hand and the green light of Eri's soul gem becomes visible, its light refracting in the fog and falling snow.

  131. "A ceasefire. We all withdraw, and I return this gem to Eri."

  133. "Everyone goes home, thinks carefully about tonight, and RE-thinks." "I have known war that has lasted for longer than you can imagine."

  135. She pauses. "There are no good wars, no one wins." "Tonight we can." "Gather your wounded, and return home."

  137. "When only I and one of you remain to witness, I will return the gem to Eri's body, and leave.

  139. Let both her and Kyokou know the mercy shown to them, and may they, and everyone here, take the path that leads away from war, and for they especially, a path that enables them to live without killing the innocent. "

  141. She pauses. "Those are the terms. Merry Christmas."

  156. Sayaka has trapped Kyouko in with herself, but she didn't anticipate what else she'd be trapping herself in with. The hail of razors is not avoidable this time, as it was the last; they chip at her skin everywhere she goes. This hell-angel of rusty-looking red metal takes her toll over and over. Sayaka takes her as well, reaping as she goes, sometimes coming away with sparks and a slash of water, sometimes with blood.

  158. The endless hacking combat between them is red with more than wet blade. This feels like a gate closing, a furious refusal on both sides to take one more step further towards one another, save in violence. Sayaka is groggy with it. She cannot stand it much longer.

  160. "Hrrragh!" Sayaka plants her feet hard on one of the circles and drives herself into Kyouko, smashing both of them out of the hailstorm. As they collide with the ground she viciously drags her sword along Kyouko's back, tumbling free and losing her grip on the weapon. She pants raggedly, pushing up with her arms, then feeling one drop out from beneath her.

  162. "Ahh... haaah," she wheezes, bringing out a grief seed. The one Eri let her take, out of a lingering sense of right and wrong. If Eri had fully converted to Kyouko's way of thinking already, she would have none.

  164. She stares at Kyouko as some of the overflowing grief drains down, then lets out a gasp as her chest loosens. Pushing herself up, faintly wild eyed, she only half-understands Garnet's words. But she looks at her and she simply trusts, leaving it to her, willing to accept her solution because she's past those of her own. "Let's go," she croaks quietly. "Let's go!" she calls hoarsely. And she starts backing off into the drifts, eyes on Kyouko.

  168. Garnet is like...well, a living bit of gemstone. A /lot/ of gemstone. She's shoved off, but the girl lands near Eri's body, sword at the ready once more. Petals float around it, ready to thrust forward at the slightest moment. Her mouth is a line.

  170. "War...will only end when men don't have any more reason to fight. Or when someone strong enough stops it." One guess who she thinks that'll be. Still, a glance to the battle field. Kasagami doesn't budge. No, she's taking it on herself to care for Eri. Sweat drips down her brow, even as Sayaka's signaling a retreat.

  172. "No objections here. Now drop the stone. I'll get her to safety. I think this has gone on long enough."
  173. [OOC] Kasagami Araki says, "okay guys, that's last one fro me tonight, I need to collapse. Assume kassie is playing body-bodyguard to eri there"

  189. Blood spills on the snow, and Mikoto hollers, planting her foot in the ground to bring Miroku about for another swing. But Mami is quick, fighting for her life, and she brings a rifle up and fires.

  191. Mikoto feels the pain first, as it catches her just off of her centre of mass, bullet biting through her overcoat and into her side. More blood spills on the snow. Mikoto staggers back.
  192.  
  193. Another bullet catches her, and blood spills from her outer thigh. They're expert shots even in their desperation, and Mikoto screams in pain. It's too late to leap away - she was too sluggish.
  194.  
  195. In that moment, the truth is clear: No way out. Gotta go through.
  196.  
  197. Mikoto charges.
  198.  
  199. A third shot catches at Mikoto's ribbons as she barrels towards Mami, the hot current as it skims across burning away her bindings. It's a little irony which Mikoto is too deep in berserkergang to appreciate.

  201. Miroku comes down, crashing towards Mami's position in the snow. She's tired, she's slow, the remnants of the ribbons are still making it difficult. But she won't stop. She can't.
  202.  
  203. In the edge of her hearing, she hears words, but she's not registering them. Her world is Mami Tomoe.

  224. In all the sturm and drang there really wasn't much to see. Not from her angle, at least.
  225.  
  226. A million little lights and glittering around her. The grand war of the fireflies and the fairies spraying sparks against each other's charges. Blue and silver tinsel surrounds her like seafoam.

  228. Time seems to slow down, her every faculty poised on pressing out, pressing further. It seems to go well at first, to go as she feels that it should. She's fought and bled for years to scratch out everything she's got. Of course this..pretender..this dilettante.. should fall before her steel and her sinew.

  232. But then she never does. Sayaka has all of her endurance and maybe more. A part of her resents it. It feels unearned..and when Kyouko forsook her wish she inadvertently forsook her own comparable asset. She's had to fight to eke things out. As Sayaka herself observed, Kyouko bleeds..

  234. The first vicious rush had been meant to end it all there, but that isn't what happened. The bloodwolf found herself in the rare circumstance of being out aggressed..when Sayaka crashes into her, slicing ribbons in strips flanking her spine, she feels a glimpse of the other steps of her own particular dance. Knives sprout from her hands, stabbing in weak and perfunctory thrusts. But she's demoralized. More and more it seems she's damned to this cycle with this girl.

  236. Fallen in a heap, she reaches out both hands, fingers laced..a spear materializes between their empty space, her grip carrying her up to clumsy feet. Fishing a shaky hand into her raiment, she withdraws a pristine black crystal..a Grief Seed, cast over the gem resting at her breast bone. Her skin gets more color, her flesh hanging less gauntly off of her bones..

  238. And she hears the ultimatum, recognizing it for what it was. And she flicks her head to Sayaka, staring hate into her soul.

  240. "You called Eri a demon when she took a hostage to save me. Now here you are. Unlike her you won't have the..." A pause. Blood fills her lunchs for a moment, a thick gob of it retched out before she can continue. "..too shameless to care. You'll think it's...justified. Like all the rest. You could cut my head off..and believe it was my fault...you'll drown on all this red, sooner or later..Blueberry.."

  248. Lastly, she stares at Garnet, imprinting the she-goliath into her memory. Her ragged demeanor and jagged voice carry no euphemisms nor softened angles. "If you try to leave with that I'll rip your limbs off one by one."

  282. It's a watercolor of a magical girl battle, as altogether dreadful and lovely as one of Michiru's paintings. Light flares, clashes, explodes and dies.

  284. A verdant glow that promises spring.

  286. Bursts of pure azure, clean like light through glacial ice.

  288. Sullen flares of rust that radiate and then jolt and fade.

  290. It's just like fireworks, and it is /nothing at all/ like fireworks. Sailor Pluto does not close her eyes. She bears witness, as best she can through ragged vision.

  294. She steels her throat against the awful queasiness of blood loss. Any pretense of forgetting the shattered hunk of unusable flesh that is her shoulder is gone, long gone. Knees quivering with the effort, Sailor Pluto places one boot in front of the other, dragging the tips through the snow. With her she carries a few fresh sorrows, but at least she carries them home. To her dear comrades.

  305. Mami watches her second opponent stagger, scream, but there's a certainty in the pit of her stomach that tells her it won't be enough. She keeps firing for as long as she can anyway, still desperate, still hot with the fear of it and cold with the fatigue that's settled deep inside of her.

  307. She thinks she hears words calling out from the rest of them as it happens. She thinks she hears Sayaka's voice. But maybe that's just imagination.

  309. Mami tries to hurl herself out of the way as Mikoto crashes towards her, but can't make her injured legs go as quickly as she has to; it props her up for a brief moment, the effort, and Miroko comes down.

  311. Mami's eyes go wider still for a moment, as red blossoms down her front. She tries to say something, her lips work, but then her eyes roll up and she falls to the side, legs crumpled beneath her in a manner that would be painful, if she were conscious.

  313. She isn't. But she thought she heard Sayaka's voice. She doesn't know where Sailor Pluto ended up.

  315. Mami just stays crumpled in the snow, eyes closed, heedless of the chill... and no longer much of a threat.
