  1. from /hhg/ Helluva Hotel general #665.993
  2. ----
  3. Do we think Demons will end up getting redeemed and going to Heaven in the show, or do you think it's all a farce and it won't work?
  4. -
  5. See my Adina thing above. My pet theory (which is predicated entirely in the character or an analog still even being in the show) is that after their immediate victories have been won (Pent no longer attacking the hotel, Valentino off of Angel's case, Vox returned to Best Buy for a refund) they're going to start really doing some soul cleansing, get into a state where they seem to be in line with some text book definition of redeemed, but when they get to the pearly gates, the angel who is holding the keys just doesn't care and still wants them erased.
  6. -
  7. My personal guesses are either.
  8.
  9. 1: Redemption is possible and some demons will be redeemed. The underlying issues for Charlie may be determining how to achieve redemption reliably and at a rate to replace the exterminations, resolve the political issues redemption will cause with Hell and Heaven, and deal with the personal issues of potentially losing her friends and lover.
  10.
  11. 2: Redemption is impossible or highly impractical that it may as not well exist. The issues might become with Charlie trying to overcome this defeat, or potentially reorient her goals into something else, which ties with my 3rd guess.
  12.
  13. 3: Redemption, possible or not, becomes irrelevant with the discovery that Heaven is worse off than Hell for the average Human (exactly why its undesirable to be in Heaven is irrelevant for this point). As such the goal with Charlie becomes trying to make Hell a better place to live in for the average sinner.
  14. -
  15. Redemption is directly tied to how many friendship bracelets you make
  16. ---
  17. My theory is that there's something befouling Heaven itself: Adina's elitism.
  18. She's the reason why there are exterminators attacking Hell (Lucifer just agrees with it, because fck sinners, and he doesn't for a moment think that this'll ever actually harm anyone important), and she's causing a subtle schism in Heaven, not too different from what preceded Lucifer's rebellion, but still in it's early stages, as she's being more smart about it.
  19. Heaven itself has been suffering from underpopulation as a result of her increasingly impossible-to-meet standards, and the world of the living reflects this, by sin and just general nastiness and ignorance being more widespread, and virtuous people being tricked into sinning at the last second (such as Mayberry) by evil people that go unchallenged, and even rewarded (Martha).
  20. Adina isn't perceptive enough to realize the damage she's doing (or if she is, she doesn't care), and may even be actively trying to trigger an early war between Heaven and Hell.
  21. Charlie's plan, though initially a minor spanner in her works, becomes a major problem when both Hell and her own peers begin to be clued in on the fact someone's rigging the system.
  22.
  23. Charlie's Hotel will prove that sinners CAN be redeemed, and Heaven's refusal to accept them will result in a purge among their ranks, which may just expose Adina, or force Lucifer back into active politics between himself and his old man.
  24.
  25. One possible ending is the (re)establishment of Purgatory, which would begin to filter out the sinners worthy of redemption on a far larger scale than Charlie's Hotel (which would be reduced to a rehab clinic/precursory establishment to help them make the decision to leave Hell, or keep newcomers safe from sin while they wait their turns).
  26. -
  27. So, in the end, Heaven and Hell would be the ones who put a proper system of redemption into place, as it would serve a particular narrative:
  28. Whilst it's important to have grassroots initiatives to better situations (the Hotel), the fact of the matter is that what is effectively charity (Charlie, being a princess, and someone of considerable wealth, pinching in without changing the overall system) is not enough to effectively change the situation, as the change has to reach the powers that be.
  29. -
  30. Not clued in as to who Adina is. Any references? Also the cyclops chap. I know about Baxter and Crymini, considering they're posted all the time here.
  31. -
  32. A character who appears in the shows earliest concept art. She seems to be a high ranking angel (though she oftentimes was drawn conspicuously WITHOUT a halo) of some sort, who empowers demon slayers and encourages them to kill. Personality wise, she seems totally merciless and unforgiving in the most placid and serene way; one of the main pieces of art for her is her torturing Angel Dust whilst wearing a grandmotherly smile and denying all his pleas for mercy, another was her expressing disappointment in one of her hunters for letting Angel and Vaggie escape him, and yet another was her throwing the "all for the greater good" card at that same hunter. She's like the inverse of Charlie on paper: dispassionate and unforgiving.
  33.
  34. Thread canon and fanatic wise, we usually peg her as the main driving force behind the cleanses of Hell and the creator/most out spoken proponent of the exterminators. For stories with Solagne (donut steele), she's also her mother.
  35. -
  36. Adina was to be a character in the original Zoophobia arch form which Hazbin was developed from. She's a villainous, "holier-than-thou" type, who isn't above torturing sinners, and actively sends demon hunters after them (in this iteration, the Hotel was a waystation between Hell and Earth, which allowed demons to venture out into the land of the living).
  37. -
  38. See that's what I'm talking about. She's got crosses printed all over her outfit, but no halo, while other angels from the concept art from this time did have prominent, unmistakable halos.
  39. -
  40. The possiblities for this character is either she did not survive the transition from Zoophobia to HH, she went on to inspire another character that'll take her place, or she's being kept under wraps until the show comes out.
  41. -
  42. That's my thinking. In any case, if she or a derivative does show up, it won't be for a long while, or she won't be directly participating in the action of the plot for a while. We already have plenty of conflicts going. Val & Angel, Pent against the hotel, Al vs Vox, Charlie's familial issues and history with the Van Eldritches. Let's see them just sort things out in Hell first before they start throwing hands with Heaven too.
  43. ------------
  44. Who is the demon hunter guy?
  45. -
  46. His name was Fawkes or Finch or something. His appearance was basically green Alastor. Personality wise we got even less on him, but he seemed somewhat reluctant to do his job and Adina had to cajole or chastise him.
  47. -
  48. Finch.
  49. -
  50. ...Did he always have that demon tail? If so that lends credence to Anon's theory that of turncoat demons being the ones doing the cleanses, trying to buy their way into heaven with blood
  51. -
  52. That says Fitch
  53. -
  54. >Green Alastor
  55. It's actually sad how accurate that is
  56. -
  57. To be fair, I think deer people did have a semi standard design across the whole race in that comic
  58. --------------------
  59. I'm not too familiar with the series, but my guess is going to be as follows
  60. >the gang, with the exception of Alastor and maybe Nifty, somehow over the course of a few episodes deal with Angel Dust's boss and manage to rehabilitate him, and he goes to heaven
  61. >meanwhile Alastor has been using Nifty to spy on the gang, and absorbs the power of the Demons the gang will have displaced/overthrown/klled/reformed over the course of the series.
  62. >Angel Dust goes up to heaven, then Alastor goes nuts with power and tried to overthrow Lucifer/use Charlie in some form or another
  63. >Angel Dust then commits multiple sins in heaven, maybe gets the other reformed demons to do the same thing, in order to get sent back to hell again in order to help his friends against Alastor.
  64. Alternatively, maybe Alastor is just the anti-hero and eventually comes around to helping the gang, even if he claims it's only for his own entertainment. I like the idea of someone getting to heaven and having to go back to hell to help their friends, maybe Angel Dust has to come back to fight actual angels or something. Would be kinda funny to see Angel start hitting on Jesus or something, maybe making some offensive joke or even doing some kind of sx act.
