  1.
  2. <Vigilant_GM> The inquisitorial safehouse affords you two days of rest. Two days during which you allow your bodies to feel the aches and pains accumulated from the underhive misadventure. Though lacking any luxury, the dwellings afford you sufficient comfort ready yourselves for Interrogator Kurst's debrief, as your submitted evidence is analyzed and logged under Inquisitor Mortem's datavaults.
  3. <Vigilant_GM> On the morning of the third day, Interrogator Kurst has Timor taken out of the chym-induced coma, and brought in a medicae-monitor chair to the briefing room.
  4. <Vigilant_GM> You are given half hour to gather yourselves, as a cell, and to prepare yourselves for the questioning to come.
  5. <Nitrous> "So when do I get new legs?"
  6. * Karpath sees Nitrous sitting in the chair, "Eventually I guess, how you doing?
  7. <Nitrous> "Well other than my legs being gone, okay I guess."
  8. <Velam> Though the savant had already written up an extensive report, every detail and thing done by the cell since they last left this safehouse, he kept a copy ready in case the Interrogator had any further questions. Much of Velam's 'relaxation' had involved naps, caffeine, and lots of paperwork, a favorite past time of his.
  9. <Shiv> "Honestly thought Lawman died. Having you strapped on my back was not fun."
  10. * Nitrous looks at shiv, "Huh."
  11. <Shiv> "You are heavy."
  12. <Nitrous> "I got lighter real fast."
  13. <Karpath> "Was lucky that I was able to find you out in all that mess after we destroyed the last cables."
  14. <Nitrous> "Yup."
  15. <Shiv> "You were still heavy with no legs."
  16. <Nitrous> "Indeed."
  17. <Vigilant_GM> At length, Kurst arrives. Wearing a comfortable tunic, and holding a dataslate in hand he enters the room and looks directly at Nitrous before giving each of you a nod. His gaunt face is marked with a new scar, you notice; you know better than to ask.
  18. <Vigilant_GM> "Be seated."
  19. * Karpath takes his seat.
  20. <Vigilant_GM> "You have been peculiarly active for a Sigma-level cell, acolytes," he begins.
  21. * Tony Takes his seat quietly
  22. * Baird also takes a seat at the table.
  23. * Shiv takes a seat.
  24. * Velam takes a seat towards the back, dataslate at the ready.
  25. <Vigilant_GM> "Before we begin," he places a small vox-recorded on the table, "is there anything you would like to say or ask?"
  26. <Velam> "If I may, sir. Were you aware of what we might be finding down there?"
  27. <Shiv> "That Gantry place was a mess."
  28. * Karpath decides to remain silent.
  29. <Vigilant_GM> "The extent of the problem was only suspected. You were Inqusitor Mortem's eyes and ears in the Underhive."
  30. <Baird> "It was an underhive ruled by a ganger Shivvy. What did you expect? No questions from me interrogator. Any that I'd have we'll probably cover in the debriefing or are above our paygrade at this point."
  31. <Shiv> "Walking corpses, Beard man. That was the mess."
  32. <Vigilant_GM> "Indeed," he thumbs the vox-recorder.
  33. <Vigilant_GM> "Interrogator Kurst, Valerius-assigned. Debrief of acolyte cell Valerius-sigma," he speaks clearly.
  34. <Vigilant_GM> "Cell assigned to investigate events suspected to be tied to Inquisitorial File S-Processional 0224's anomaly."
  35. <Vigilant_GM> "The Ferrue heretics," he looks up. "Is there anything you would like to add outside of the written record produced by acolyte Velam as regards these?"
  36. <Nitrous> "Nope."
  37. <Baird> "While I can assume it's in Velams report, I would just like to have it on audio record that one the brothers is still presumably alive and if he's into the same heretical shite as his siblings then he's probably gearing up for something new or potentially gunning for us right now."
  38. <Baird> "I'd like the opportunity to hunt him down and strike first."
  39. <Vigilant_GM> "Tormus, yes. Blessed Flesh referred to itself as a 'strain'. It is likely a splinter group of a larger heresy. The heretic Tormus is suspected to be tied to the parent cult."
  40. <Baird> "Sounds like we have a new target then."
  41. <Nitrous> "I see."
  42. <Shiv> "A bigger cult? Fecking hell. We gonna need loads of ammo and guns."
  43. <Velam> "Oh dear, these things tend to splinter and fragment." He sighs.
  44. <Vigilant_GM> "As your cell is the most connected to the investigation, you will be given priority over pursuing Tormus and the filth he represents."
  45. <Baird> "It is appreciated Interrogator."
  46. <Vigilant_GM> Swiping on the dataslate he comments, "I understand you involved yourselves with certain... elements in the Underhive whilst carrying out your work."
  47. <Nitrous> "Yup."
  48. <Vigilant_GM> "Is there anything you would like to go on the record regarding your decision to employ these?"
  49. <Baird> "The Red Walk, the disgraced noble Endish and the Sanctionaries."
  50. <Shiv> "Without their aid, the assault on the cult would have been really, really hard."
  51. <Baird> "Just that we were using the options at our disposal. Distasteful though it may have been. And without their support I don't think the operation would've worked out quite as well. If we had to carve our way through the gangers and then try and deal with the cult well....who knows how much extra time that woud've given them for whatever ritual they were doing."
  52. <Vigilant_GM> He nods, and makes a note of what you have said. "As you now know, the information you pursue in service to the Throne is most sensitive, and of a corrupting nature. I will require for the record recommendations for purge-team deployments."
  53. <Baird> "Those who came in contact with the cult? Or those that came into contact with the walking corpses?"
  54. <Vigilant_GM> "The recommendation is yours to make, Acolyte Baird. Perhaps we can begin with this Red Walk group."
  55. <Baird> "The corpses can most likely be explained away given the overly superstitious nature of Gantry. There are few of the Red Walk remaining, their leader was in critical condition when we left. As strange as it sounds I believe they are necessary if Gantry is to continue. Given the isolated nature of the area it's unlikely any information spreads. They also have no idea who we are in reality. The whole reason they went along was purely just
  56. <Baird> for revenge. As for the any Sanctionaries that came into contact with the situation below all are dead save for one. Oath-Captain Nils. If possible I'd like to recommend her for induction like Mr. Murphy here. Aside from that Endish and his group provide structure and trade to Gantry. But given his previous ties as a noble he's the oone I'd be most concerned about in the area of information leaks. Though it was in critical as well. Who
  57. <Baird> knows if he even made it through."
  58. <Vigilant_GM> "This Kaytian Nils features heavily in Acolyte Velam's report. Commendable service, to be sure, yet..." he looks down at his dataslate once more, "it is evidence she came in contact with the impurity of the Warp. Did she not?"
  59. <Baird> "As far as purge squads...either get rid of the entire gantry or we risk it move on. If Gantry is to continue it will need Endish and the Red Walk to maintain order."
  60. <Velam> "I would suggest testing Nils for corruption, if possible, and perhaps recruiting her? She would make a valuable asset, sir."
  61. <Baird> "I agree with Velam on this."
  62. <Karpath> "I agree as well with this."
  63. <Baird> "Should she be corruption free I again submit her name for induction."
  64. <Shiv> "Sure, she was helpful. Let's do the thing smarty pants said."
  65. <Nitrous> "I concur."
  66. <Vigilant_GM> "Your judgment as regards Nils will be considered," he nods.
  67. <Baird> "It is appreciated Interrogator."
  68. <Vigilant_GM> "Tying the extent of your work on Desoleum are the artefacts you have recovered."
  69. <Velam> "Have they been studied in any extent?" The savant couldn't help but ask, knowledge even of the damning sort was such a tempting thing to explore.
  70. <Vigilant_GM> "There are characteristics to these of various heresies. Those spanning the influence of warp entities, and those of xenos."
  71. <Velam> "Fascinating, yes hmmm peculiar, peculiar."
  72. <Vigilant_GM> "This knowledge appears to be known to rogue elements of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Elements which I can now reveal are known to be connected to the illicit xenotrade you uncovered months ago."
  73. <Baird> "Damn cog boys."
  74. <Velam> "Truly a shame."
  75. <Vigilant_GM> "Your work as a sigma-level cell, however, is concluded until further review. You will be activated again when the time comes. Until then, Acolytes, you are to blend in once more."
  76. <Velam> "Ah excellent."
  77. <Baird> "Understood Interrogator."
  78. <Vigilant_GM> "You will be extended a line of credit, and if need be, new identities for this intervening time."
  79. <Nitrous> "New legs would be nice."
  80. <Baird> "The new identities may be a good call. Better safe than sorry."
  81. <Vigilant_GM> "Very well. Who will you be?"
  82. <Karpath> /me takes a moment to think about this.
  83. <Baird> "A merchant his cadre."
  84. <Baird> "Shiv can be the..."merchant"..given his penchant for lying. Velam his scribe. Karpath can fill a more advisory and monetary role. Tony and myself as "bodyguards" so we can stay close to Shiv to steer things how they are needed and notice anything amiss respectively. Nitrous can just be the "muscle" once we get him legs. Now we just need names."
  85. <Nitrous> "Jack Smith the hired guard."
  86. <Velam> "Thaddeus Bouregard."
  87. <Karpath> "Katarn, the Adviso."
  88. <Tony> "Roy Cipriani"
  89. <Shiv> "William H... eh Pettibon? Yea, that will work. William H. Pettibon."
  90. <Vigilant_GM> "Off-world merchant. Good choice. This will allow you to explain away your obvious foreign nature, give you some freedom of movement, and perhaps grant you access to information brokers on Desoleum and Port Gyre -- a place I believe you're familiar with."
  91. <Baird> "Ulrik Vestian"
  92. <Baird> "That we are."
  93. <Vigilant_GM> "Which brings us to the second matter. Where will you seek suitable accomodation?"
  94. <Velam> "Perhaps somewhere with a little more ritz than the last place? Better security for sure."
  95. <Baird> "One of the nicer establishments. To drive home the status of Mr. "Pettibon"."
  96. <Baird> "I'm thinking up hive. As the kind of people who sell information don't part with it cheaply. So we need something to show that we are...well off financially."
  97. <Vigilant_GM> "Then it is done. While the identities are created and an appropriate line of credit established, Acolyte Timor will have time to undergo the necessary correction to his limbs."
  98. <Nitrous> "Thank you."
  99. <Vigilant_GM> ====SKIPAROO====
  100. <Vigilant_GM> Several weeks later, a shuttle registered to William H. Pettibon arrives in Port Gyre, declaring passengers, cargo, and local references. His bodyguards are issued temporary permits by the Gyre Sanctionary Authority, and his chofer is granted transit credentials.
  101. <Vigilant_GM> Desoleum City's high mercantile quarter hosts many foreign merchants at locales like the Roseburry Hostel. It is here that Mr. Pettibon arrives, and is greeted eagerly by the staff, staff who have run all the necessary background checks and geedily accepted as a guest an affulent man such as he.
  102. <Vigilant_GM> The lobby is decorated in deep crimson, something approaching marble, and gilded trimmings throughout. The suite rented -indefinitely- to Mr. Pettibon translates to the entire corner of the fourth floor.
  103. * Velam has gone to lengths to help with his disguise, including a brand new finances tome, that he had a blas of a time filling with accounts within accounts, business ventures, and other fabricated goodies. And the best part, there is no proven way to prove them inaccurate within the system. A marvelous piece of art, he would say of himself.
  104. * Shiv flaunting his new fancy clothes as he walks.
  105. <Vigilant_GM> It consists of a vast main chamber, and two adjoining ones for his staff, along with the opulent sitting room adorned with paintings and imported furniture, and set incense to add to the atmosphere.
  106. * Shiv whispers to himself "So this is how the rich people live?"
  107. <Baird> "Yes Shivvy, there's plumbing. That's a big enough step up for you I'd think."
  108. <Nitrous> "Let's hope we don't get another package like last time."
  109. <Shiv> "Hey, It's William, now." He tucks at his collar."
  110. <Tony> "Have not been to a joint like this in a long time."
  111. <Baird> "Of course Mr. Pettibon." Baird adopts a very rigid yet somehow mocking tone.
  112. * Karpath whistles.
  113. * Shiv blows a raspberry at Baird.
  114. * Nitrous takes a seat at a couch abd starts stretching
  115. <Tony> "Shall we find your Private Chambers Mr Pettibon, and set up?"
  116. <Velam> "I still think m'lud should have taken a cane for his outfit, it would match very well."
  117. <Shiv> "I suppose. We gotta look the part."
  118. * Karpath takes a walk around the room, checking out as much of it a possible.
  119. * Shiv checks out the bedroom.
  120. <Shiv> "GUYS, THE BED IS HUGE!"
  121. * Baird takes one of the adjoining rooms as his own and settles in.
  122. <Karpath> "I would believe so Mr. Pettibon."
  123. * Velam finds his own accomadations and settles in.
  124. * Shiv dives onto the bed.
  125. * Karpath finds a place to store his things including extra gear if needed in the same room as Velam.
  126. <Tony> "Mr Pettibon, can we talk security detail?"
  127. <Shiv> "Of course, Cipriani."
  128. * Shiv gets off the bed.
  129. <Tony> "Follow me if you please with the others if you don't mind."
  130. <Shiv> "If you insist."
  131. * Tony As he gestures to a large Walk-in Closet
  132. * Shiv claps his hands twice and says +Meeting in the living room+.
  133. <Nitrous> +Aye, already here+
  134. * Karpath makes his way out to the foyer.
  135. * Tony he moves into the closet of Mr Pettibon Room and gestures to the others to come inside
  136. <Vigilant_GM> The main bed-chamber's walk-in closet is large enough to fit a dozen or so people, standing upright.
  137. * Velam joins everyone for this meeting of sorts.
  138. <Shiv> +Nevermind into the main closet in the main bedroom.+
  139. * Shiv follows behind Tony.
  140. * Karpath rolls his eyes and then makes his way to the main closet.
  141. * Baird makes his way out of the side room and into the foyer where he seems everyone funneling into the master bedroom. Curious he follows everyone in.
  142. * Tony Once everyone has come in, he is going to shut the door
  143. <Tony> "Alright, This place is bugged to the brim, this is the only place safe for us to talk, from what I have found."
  144. <Velam> "Would it be too difficult to un-bug it, as the saying goes?
  145. <Tony> "Very well put together, but nothing too tricky to find, a lot of them are built into the walls."
  146. <Baird> "Unsurprising honestly. Places like this could earn even more if they can sell info on their clients."
  147. <Nitrous> "Indeed."
  148. <Shiv> "*Sign* Think this is how that one guy found us?"
  149. <Baird> "Let's leave them so they don't know we're onto them. We can just conduct business in here iof necessary."
  150. <Karpath> "Agreed."
  151. <Shiv> "Let's just play pretend I guess."
  152. <Velam> "Very well, M'lud."
  153. <Nitrous> "Yup."
  154. <Tony> "I mean, don't you enjoy being the rich man Shiv?"
  155. <Shiv> "Heh. Of course, I do."
  156. <Baird> "Alright well that figured out I'm heading back."
  157. * Shiv opens the closest door.
  158. * Baird exits the closet and returns to the side room unloading his weapons and sets to stripping and cleaning them.
  159. * Karpath makes his way out from the closet
  160. * Nitrous goes back to the couch
  161. <Shiv> "Katarn! Write this down. I want a closet like that build when we get home."
  162. <Tony> "I will post myself on your chair Mr Pettibon by your request."
  163. * Tony As he goes to sit in the chair near the large bed
  164. * Velam moves back to his room to continue fabricating details in his new tome.
  165. <Shiv> "Of Course, Cipriani."
  166. <Nitrous> "I'll watch the door."
  167. * Karpath he makes his way back to the room and pulls out some papers to check some 'fanatical reports' to help with the cover.
