  6. Story:
  7. Pinkerton was sitting at his desk, thinking about exploration. They had plenty of research from the two islands, plenty of secrets from Transylvania and Shangri-La, plenty of gold from Anagogic and Mali… but, come to think of it, not so much from Hungary or Caribbean. Instead of finding any actual resources there, they just worked on their gain for the next expedition.
  8.
  9. How was it more important to get fame in Transylvania, or research on Lost Island, than the same on Hungary or the Caribbean? Everyone already had a ton of the former, from every expedition. The real question is how there were still more secrets in Transylvania to find.
  10.
  11. Pinkerton knew, of course, that he couldn’t just tell explorers “get lots of resources from your stepping-stone expeditions;” they only seemed to take his special requests seriously when he gave them an interesting challenge. An unorthodox route would be less effective, perhaps, but nonetheless, the explorers would take it as a challenge - and that was more effective than anything Pinkerton could ever say.

  13. Rules:
  14.
  15.
  16. You must go to Hungary or the Caribbean as your 5th expedition.
  17. If going to Hungary, you may not go to Highlands, Transylvania, or Anagogic.
  18. If going to Caribbean, you may not go to Egypt, Andean, or Emerged.
  19. You must play on Adventure mode.
  20. Scoring:
  21. Your score is your Renown.
  22.
  23.
  24. BRONZE: (1MP*): 3000 Renown
  25. SILVER: (2MP*): 7500 Renown
  26. GOLD: (3MP*): 12500 Renown
  27. PLATINUM: (3MP+**): The top score overall, and then the next top score for each finishing expedition.
  28. * Number of medal points awarded when playing on Classic Difficulty. Easy and Normal give less, according to these rules.
  29. Gold and Platinum medals may only be achieved without losing, though Silver and Bronze are still possible to get with just the Record sheet for that trip.
  30. ** The platinum medal is extraordinary and can only be achieved on Classic or Impossible difficulty without losing. It doesn't increase Medal Points further than a Gold medal, but we will track how many you have.

  53. Story ideas:
  54. How are there still Secrets in Transylvania? How did Pinkerton come to this conclusion when he can’t even realize that the option that gives 10 Secrets is better than the one that gives 2? Why do explorers enjoy unorthodox routes? How do your explorers feel about going to such a weak expedition to end their stint?
