- Islam believes, first and foremost, in monotheism. They also believe in angels as messengers and servants of God. Another of their beliefs is in their prophet, Mohammed. The Islam people believe that he was the final, most accurate prophet and that the previous prophet’s words have become corrupted over time. They believe that those who don’t follow the Islam faith are condemned to Jahannam, or hell, and the righteous people will be rewarded in Jannah, or paradise.1
- The first and most important prophet is Mohammed. He did countless acts, including writing the Quran and introduce the concept of monotheism to a city called Mecca. However, the Meccan authorities persecuted him, saying that he destabilized the hierarchy because he gave the poor and the slaves ideas. He left later in 622, instead living in a city called Medina, and it was there he established his authority. He formed a constitution that established numerous important things, like communal security and women's rights. Mohammed also instated a tax and law system- that is, he allowed non-Muslims to use their law systems.
- Their beliefs are somewhat similar to ours.
