Insert vertically short HTML Line Break

Beware of adding Character Line Breaks (\r|\r?\n) anywhere near this <span> tag.

I am not sure what wikitext elements put you out of danger of the quirky Line Break behavior of the Wikimedia wikitext renderer. If you use the <span> tag in an argument (Argument n) of a template, coding the next argument (Argument (n + 1) ) or ending the template, will put you out of scope of the renderer's Line Break quirks -- for Argument n. The renderer has Line Break quirks lurking elsewhere.
