>Inspect Brew Potion
Allows Zecora to create a minor elixir utilizing her potion-making kit befitting the situation, but is very limited in capability.
>Inspect Splash Toss
If an appropriate potion is available, Zecora will throw either a beneficial or damaging potion, giving an area of effect with a 10 foot radius.
>Inspect Shoot Dart
Zecora will shoot from her blowdart with excellent accuracy, sending a draining poison through the receiver that will kill them unless cleansed of it.

>Inspect: What does the picture of the creature in the book look like?
>The picture itself has some sort of figure that looks familiar, but it is too old and worn to make out any details. Then again, the shadowy being didn’t have a body at all, so that wouldn’t make a difference.

>Taking this book into your hands, you beckon Ponk and call attention to the group.
“Hey, Pinkie found something good!”
>You meet them halfway at the large crescent table in the center of the hall, and open it back up to the page where the information lay.
“See, it talks about a creature that takes magic from powerful sources, from greatest to least. It fits the bill of the shadow that’s stalking us, especially since it went after Celestia and Luna first…”
>Twilight subconsciously pushes you out of the way, reading every last word for herself with a growing uneasiness upon her countenance.
>”Oh no..”
>The entire group got a bit worried at Twi’s reaction, Berry finally breaking the silence after a long period of suspense.
>”Well, what is it!?”
>She looks up at her.
>”If this legend is talking about the shadow, well, It’s going from the most powerful sources of magic, right? Who’s next down that list?”
>Everyone looked around at each other, either unsure or unwilling to say.
>”...Princess Cadance.”
“Cadance?”
>”She’s the Princess of Love, presiding over the Crystal Empire up north. We have to get there before this shadow does!”
>Another round of worried looks makes you go ahead with the idea.
“Alright, we’ll make it our next stop then. Wait… We need this stuff here in the Everfree Forest, mainly herbs for Zecora, and for that fire enchantment we could really use.”
>”That’s right…”
>Redheart steps into the conversation at this point.
>”Then maybe it would be best if we split up? We could cover more ground that way, right?”
>Twi nods.
>”I could go with my friends, and Anon and you guys could stay and help her out, and come to the Empire later. I suppose you two will be staying?”
>She referred to Applejack and Pinkie Pie, who both nodded, staying at your side.
>”I’m making darn sure Anon here doesn’t get too scratched up by the things in this here forest. Gotta train him right or he won’t last one cotton-pickin’ second.”
>Pinkie nodded at least twenty times to that statement.
>”I’m with Applejack on this one! I mean, did you SEE what she did to him earlier?”
>You give a scowl.
“Hey, I got her pretty good, too!”
>Your remark goes mostly ignored.
>Fucking ponies.
>In any case, you close the book and put it into your inventory.
“Well, I guess we’ll see you guys at the Crystal Empire, then. Uuh, how do we get there?”
>”AJ and Pinkie can tell you on the way. I’ll be sure you get free passage up there, so don’t worry about train tickets.”
“Okay. See you guys!”
>”Bye!”
>Twilight and her friends began to leave...

>Wait a minute.
“Hey Twilight, I had an idea about this shadow thing. I think it might actually be a demon, considering its qualities, and I was wondering what their weaknesses were here? Back in my world, some demons had religious symbolism and in some cases, silver as their weakness.”
>She gives it a bit of thought, rubbing her chin like a detective.
>”Demons exist here, but they’re very sparse, usually locked up in Tartarus. I can’t think of any weaknesses they would have, they are very tough, strong creatures. I don’t know what religion is, but silver could work. We should make a note to get some soon.”
“Sounds like a plan.”

“Oh, one more question.”
>She looks back at you, giving you the ‘go-ahead’ smile.
“I was thinking about the fact that my world has no magic whatsoever… When I remembered the time I went through that dark magic to save Spike, and was rather unharmed, I got the radical notion that because of the lack of magic there, that humans, including me, might just be immune. Is there a way to check that?”
>”Uuh, well, yes. I could probably try to transfigure your physical form? I’ll change you right back if it doesn’t work. Are you okay with that?”
“Sure, anything that’ll work.”
>Twilight nods, and her horn begins to create a magical shimmering aura around you, blanketing across your skin.
>It then shoots a magical laser at your form, hitting you square in the chest…
>Your vision goes black, losing all senses except taste and smell.
>You taste orange, and it was ripe.
>Your entire world was orange, and you must scream.
>All of a sudden, you felt yourself vibrating quicker than your mother’s old dildo, and you pop back into existence, your eyes adjusting to the light.
>You also heard Berry and Rainbow laughing their asses off.
>”Wait, w-what? I thought I casted that spell right, why did you change back so quickly?...”
>”Let me try it again.”
“Nonono WAIT--”
>SHIT!
>AAGH, ORANGE!
>You pop back and you instantly hold up your hands.
“Stop that, you fucking-!”
>You cut yourself off; best not to dig any more holes.
>Berry and Dash were joined by Pinkie in their rolling, side-busting antics.
>”Okay, sorry, I was just being sure. You may not be immune, but you’re definitely nigh-invulnerable. It’s very interesting…”

>”It might be very useful in the near future. Stay alive, okay?”
>Well, shit, looks like she didn’t care about you that much.
>”And not just because of that. We could use a guy like you here in Equestria, somepony so helpful, even if a bit eccentric.”
>Oh…
>She gives you another smile and trots off to join her friends as they depart, you and your party waving goodbye.
[Twilight, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy left the group.]

“Hey guys, while you were all searching, did you find any sort of traps or hidden doors, mechanisms like that?”
>The majority of them shook their head, but Zecora spoke up.
>”Indeed, I found something that might be of your interest. If I recall, it was some sort of chest.”
“Thought you weren’t rhyming anymore?”
>She looks back at you for a second, then gives you a derivative snort.
>”T’was but a coincidence.”
>Hue.
>You follow her with the rest of the party trailing behind you, leading the party to a dark room only dimly lit by shitty torches.
>Seriously, what the fuck, fire was supposed to be bright, right?
>”It is here.”
>You take a look at the chest that she had previously mentioned, seeing brilliant midnight blue and alabaster decorations.
>It was already open, so you didn’t have to worry about anything that might kill you, like booby-trapped treasure chests.
>You inspect it thoroughly just to be sure it was empty, but you found something inside.
>Picking it up, you dust it off and reveal a gleaming white coin, with a portrait of Celestia on it.
“Whoa, what’s this?”
>Redheart comes up next to you and looks closely at it.
>”I think it’s a Quartia! Princess Celestia stopped making these a while ago, but she said we could still use them if we had them.”
“How much is it?”
>”It’s equivalent to 25 bits. Luna’s coin is a 10, Cadance is 5, and a normal bit is just 1.”
“Good to know…”

>You check the mechanisms that created the lock inside of the chest, and you take it out with some careful precision.
[AQCUIRED SMALL MECHANISM FOR QUEST: FIREPOWER!]

>You and your party make your way back to the entrance of the castle, seeing the slowly dipping sun in the sky. You still had plenty of time left, but it was definitely past noon.
>Twilight and her friends were long gone, as you expected.
>This shadow monster thingamajig was going to be-- Okay, you know what?
“So uuh… I was thinking. We need to give a proper name to this shadow so it’s not so awkward talking about it.
>Berry rolls her eyes.
>”Yes, let’s name the guy that tore apart Ponyville and destroyed hundreds of lives. Before you know it, you’ll be giving him belly rubs.”
“Hey, I’m serious okay? … How about Bane?”
>Redheart raises an eyebrow at this suggestion.
>”Bane? Why?”
“...Because reasons.”
>”What reasons?”
“Good reasons.”
>”...”
>The group stares at you in silence.
“I’ll take that as a yes.”
>Berry looks at you as if you are an idiot.
>”Somepony tell me why we’re sticking with this guy again?”
>Pinkie cuts in.
>”I like it!”
>AJ glares at her.
>”Of course you’d like it! If I ever saw anypony that would be your human clone, it’s this guy.”
>You decide to take that as a compliment.

>Finally, your party walks out back into the Everfree, the castle’s library thankfully having given you a bit of progress.
>There is still one more loose end to tie up, however…
“Hey, Pinkie?”
>”Hi Nonny!”
“Hi, uh, have you ever seen Fluttershy… Talking with any masked strangers, by chance?”
>”Oh, not recently but there was this one time where she and I and Twilight all dressed up as a supermare called Mare-Do-Well when we tried to teach Rainbow Dash a lesson because she was having problems with her ego and it was really fun but I guess that would count as Fluttershy wearing a mask and not meeting anyone masked but…”
>Holy shit, you just opened up a typhoon that would never quell.
>You tone her out as you look around the forest.
>You still had many things you needed to pick up before you headed to the Crystal Empire, but you could do anything at this point.

>You think the best course of action at this point would be to find the necessary herbs and materials for that fire enchantment.
>The silver suggestion was just that, nothing more than a suggestion. You highly doubt it would’ve worked, and having a spear of fire would probably be your best defense right now.
>Besides maybe that firearm, but it was going to be a while before you were able to find something like that. You’d probably have to make it yourself, despite the fact you had no knowledge of engineering.
>Maybe it’d work itself out somehow, you seem to be having decent luck.
“Alright, I think since we’re here and we’ve been dragging her around everywhere, we should get Zecora’s herbs first. What was it, weeds and embers?”
>”Three wisp’s weeds, an ounce of mortified ember, and a manticore’s paw.”
“From where we are, where’s the closest one?”
>”Any of these trees around us may harbor the wisps, but we must search their leaves. They look like blades of grass, but blue, and three in number.”
“Alright. Is there a Manticore nearby?”
>”Unfortunately, we traveled away from them to get to this castle, so we will have to backtrack across the forest to find them, requiring much time. As for the embers, there is a geyser field in the Rumbling Rock Ridge with a dormant volcano. We can find the embers near the lava streams.”
“That sounds dangerous, damn.”
>Zecora just smiles at you.
>”A small price to pay, to keep the shadow at bay.”
“...I’ll let you not saying Bane slide because you rhymed.”
>Which of the ingredients should you seek first?





“Since it’s right here, let’s start looking for those wisp weeds around here, but go in the direction of that volcano. We can circle around to the manticore last and end at your hut, hopefully before sundown.”
>AJ rims her hat and adjusts it for the sunlight.
>”Sounds like a plan to me, let’s get movin’.”
>The party begins to thin out over the trail, beginning to search various Everfree trees for the elusive wisp weeds.
“Oh, Zecora? While we’re at it, think we should look for those herbs for those sleeping darts?”
>”I do not see why not. I will be looking for those myself, but if you happen to find them, please alert me.”
“Will do.”

>A few minutes later, Berry waves down the crew.
>”HEY! I think I got something!”
>You quickly run over and move to her location, looking at what she found.
>It looked like three blue grass leaves, just like she said, but something was rustling the leaves it was hanging from.
>Do you want to take the weeds? Y/N



>You had your hand raised and ready to take the weeds, but you had a sudden thought.
>That rustling just rubbed you the wrong way, didn’t want to touch that shit, did you?
“Hey, Zecora! Over here!”
>She gives you a once-over, then makes her way down after putting some exotic-colored herb into her pack.
>”What have you found?”
>She inspects the bush that Berry found, being very careful as to not disturb the bush.
>”There is a feral creature in this bush. Be thankful that you called me before tampering with such a thing.”
>She removes her blowdart from her pack, and sets up a poison dart within the chamber, ready to fire at a moment’s notice.
>She slowly parts the foliage away with her forehooves, instincts running her entire body with her eyes darting back and forth through the darkness of the canopic shelter…
>A rabid weasel suddenly jumps out at her, and there was a blowing sound, a dart stuck through the falling animal’s eyes.
>It hits the ground with a thud, beginning to twitch from the poison. Or the rabies.
“Wow, shit.”
>”It is best to be weary in a forest so dreary.”
“Okay, are you like, fucking with me now?”
>She keeps searching without giving you an answer.
>Alrighty, well, you snatch the wisp weed and you go on your way.
