R3 endures heat of Karna's solar laser

"KARNA! Rid me of their sight once and for all! I don't care if you turn the whole country into glass!"

Karna and Kazuya, already monstrous, began to change even more hideously. Horns growing like tusks, eyes sprouting across the leathery skin of their wings; Karna flew up, high over his master's head, every eye on their mutated bodies focusing down on a single point--Chuuya.

Everything seemed to melt away as Karna gathered power, air wavering with solar heat as if Karna were just a mirage in a desert, not a ticking time bomb ready to blow the world away. The sky itself darkened. His cape and armor burned to bits, consumed by a fire that raged so mightily he was a microscopic speck inside it, a single piece of coal that fueled a collapsing star. This heat...! There was no doubt, this was the power of the sun! If he fired this off, whatever it was, he was going to destroy more than this city! Unless--

Chuuya made no effort to dodge. He simply gathered his strength, increasing the gravitational pull around him to his maximum level. Even light bent towards him, masking him in a shadow darker than black.

He was going to absorb the whole thing. He was going to take the full force of Karna's power and save the city. But Chuuya already looked so weak, so eaten-up by his own ability. If he took a hit like that, Chuuya would--

Dazai must've had the same thought. He tried to run for him, tried to pull him out of this evil form, but the radiating pressure made it impossible. This wasn't the kind of thing a normal man could intervene in, even one with an ability like Dazai's.

Fourze put a hand on his shoulder.

"Relax, Dazai. Chuuya is my friend, too. I'll take care of this."

The other hand fell to his belt, to start the transformation.

Fire, on!

Karna raised his arms overhead, as if in supplication to the Sun, and the atmosphere blackened into a starless night. Waves of force and solar heat crashed down on them, tearing cubes of stone from the plaza and throwing them into the sky. Something was happening that Fourze couldn't even comprehend, a towering shape like a spear forming over him ready to plunge into Chuuya and destroy everything underneath it. And Fourze was flying towards him with a propeller on his wrist and a fire-fighting gun in his hand.

"Kisaragi!" Karna pulled his spear back, bright as the eclipse. "This isn't your fight! Do not be so quick to hasten your death!"

"It turned into my fight the moment you threatened my friends, you asshole! Come on, smite me, strike me down or whatever! Nothing is stronger than friendship!"

Every eye across his body opened at once, ready to obliterate him. Fourze only got a single chance to look beneath him, to see Kazuya firing on Chuuya--beams that he blocked with his body, protecting the city from as much as he could, only slivers of light escaping and tearing through the buildings behind him. Was he prepared to do this? Was he prepared to die for these people?

He was a Kamen Rider. If not him, who would?

Karna brought the lance down. Every one of his eyes launched a twenty-seven-million-degree laser of energy, crashing into Fourze's body. The Fire Switch could absorb any fire, that's what he'd always thought, but this was too much! He could barely keep his consciousness from being burned away as Karna's power ebbed into the suit, heating him past his limits. Every lick of flames he couldn't absorb went straight down to Chuuya, frying him, torturing him! He had to hold on... but he couldn't. The fire was overwhelming him, and he felt himself slipping, slipping away...

Something hit him from behind, pushing him towards Karna. Their eyes both widened at the same time. It was impossible. What could've jumped all the way up here, to brave this kind of heat?!

"C'mon, kid," Saxton said, from just behind him, "I'll give ya the last push. Now, give 'em the old Aussie diplomacy!"

With one last mighty strike against his back, Saxton projectiled Fourze right through Karna's flames, racing at a thousand miles an hour towards the corona of the blast. Karna had no time to react. Fourze did. He angled his body so he could plant the heels of his feet right into Karna's face!
"RIDER... KIIIICK!"

The dark sky brightened again like water rushing into a vacuum. The heat scattered to the winds, Karna's armor shattered into dust, and he fell to earth. Towards Kazuya. Fourze only had a moment of consciousness, a second to aim his rifle down at Kazuya and the fallen demon, for one final pull of the trigger...

"Rider Burning Shot!"

Everything went white. Then, everything went black.
