Covet: Kelsey was seated at a booth with Connor, who was chowing down on cheddar garlic biscuits and chicken noodle soup, making all the slurping noises. // Kelsey was in the middle of working on an essay for one of her classes, and hadn't really looked up from her computer at all, nor had she really said much to Brad over the last day, because she didn't want anymore little fights to blossom over this latest activity and such.
Alexithymiaa: -Brad was fiddling with his phone because Evan was sending him some work related appointment reminders for this coming weekend, his nearly finished plate of mashed potatoes and turkey sitting in a sloppy gravy mess in front of him. He glanced up at the sound of Connor's slurping, raising his brows. "Don't forget your napkin, buddy."-
Covet: Connor looked at Brad, "I know, I'm waiting until I'm all done, cause wiping my mouth after each bite is dumb if I'm gonna get more soup on my chin, Dad" He said which sounded like perfectly reasonable rationale there.// Kelsey wasn't really paying attention and had only take a couple bites of her turkey avacado wrap. She did half heartedly tell Connor the same thing, "Don't make a mess, Kiddo."
Alexithymiaa: "Okay okay, but just make sure it doesnt run down and get on your shirt. Then Momma needs to spend extra time trying to get the stain out." He told him even though chicken soup probably wouldn't stain. Not the point! He glanced over to Kelsey doing her work on her computer. "Still busy?"-
Covet: "I'm not getting it on my shirt Dad, I have a napkin in my shirt, see?" He said leaning back to the paper napkin that was now unfolded and tucked away but was so thin that it wouldn't protect from much. // "Mhhhm. Tryingn to get this done so I don't have to worry about it this weekend." She said without missing a keystroke. "I'm close, maybe a couple more pages tops."
Alexithymiaa: "Good. It's good to stay on top of things." He said a little absently, watching Connor eat again. "I've got a couple of meetings this weekend to set up a couple of projects, and then I'm mostly free."-
Covet: Connor went back to slurping away, then paused, " Dad, do you think we can make Grandpa something special this weekend? Grandma said it's his birthday on Sunday." // Kelsey nodded her head, "That's good. I've got performance rehersals going on this weekend for the tour," She said still typing away, then she stopped, "Wait.. what's today?"
Alexithymiaa: "Sure we can. What do you want to make little man?" He asked him as he grabbed for his fork to scoop up the remaining mashed potatoes from his plate. "Uhhh.... the seventh? I think?"-
Covet: "Ummm, I don't know. Momma what does Grandpa like?" He asked her, pulling on her sleeve. // "Oh crap, it is on Sunday." Kelsey said then brought her hands to her forehead to give it a rub, " I can't believe I nearly spaced it. Mom hasn't even said anything..."
Alexithymiaa: "Well it's not like it past, it's okay. We just need to think of something that makes it seem like we didnt forget until the last minute." He said as he put the potatoes in his mouth. "Name some things we can make fo rhim then."-
Covet: "Momma!" Connor said louder, " What does Grandpa like?" // Kelsey reached down to hold Connor's hand, "Stop, that's not how we talk at the table this close, and that's not how you get my attention." She said sternly, " Could go about getting him something baseball related? Do you think we could get matching Jersey's for everyone that say "Team Harrison" on them?"
Alexithymiaa: "I mean... we could... but getting something custom that fast isn't easy. Most custom things like that take at least a couple of weeks if not more. I dont know how realistic it is to expect a custom order to come through before Sunday."-
Covet: "But Then we could wear them when Grandpa does his thingy at the hospital. It would cheer him up." Connor said all excited, // Kelsey frowned, "Oh right... I hadn't thought of that. Do you think we could pay extra for someone around here that could do it up quickly? Like one of those highschool sports team supply stores?" She asked after Connor spoke, which kind of melted her heart, because he had a point.
Alexithymiaa: "We could try... but all the money in the world doesnt speed up how long some things just take. It'll pretty much only bump you to the top of their orders list. Can't hurt to ask though, right?" He said with a shrug, looking at Connor. "That's really nice. Im sure he would love that."-
Covet: "I think Grandpa would like that too, he looks so sad now lately." Connor said with a frown. // Kelsey looked at Connor, and instantly felt the guilt wash over her because she felt like a jerk for not being more on top of her Dad's chemo and all his cancer stuff over the last couple of months. "Yeah, I'll call and see if I can make some waves happen, in the mean time.. we need a back up plan."
Alexithymiaa: "Okay... a back up plan.." He started, trying to think of something else. "What about if you took him somewhere to see something or do something he wouldn't otherwise be able to do right now? But like with VIP service to make it a little easier on him."-
Covet: "Where would we go Dad?" Connor asked "Could we take Grandpa to Disneyland?" // Kelsey smiled, "I don't think Grandpa would like Disneyland as much as you would, plus that's a lot of people that could get Grandpa sick, so he'd have to wear a mask and be in a wheelchair. I like this idea of VIP service though."
Alexithymiaa: "Yeah I dont think Disneyland is a good idea, but maybe something else that usually requires a lot of walking around or physical activity that he wouldnt have the opportunity to do without having that service to get him around and make it easier?" He asked, his mind starting to wander.-
Covet: "Oh, can we go to Disneyland for my birthday then?" He asked them. "And we can bring back something for Grandpa, Like a mouse ear hat?" // "But that's after his birthday kiddo, and I'm not sure if we can go to Disneyland either, but we'll see." Kelsey said to him. " Hmmm, I wonder how he would feel about going to one of those indoor skydiving things."
Alexithymiaa: "Aren't those a little intense?" He asked unsurely, not knowing if that would be a good idea for his health right now. "What about like... one of those places with all the foam pits to just fall into and chill in? He can relax, Connor can run around..."-
Covet: "You can't skydive inside Momma, sky diving is in the sky." Connor said furrowing his brow, then perked up, "Yeah! Let's do that Momma!" // Kelsey frowned, feeling guiltier and guiltier by the second because she should have thought of that before offering the skydiving, and rubbed her arm, "Yeah, Maybe you're right... that might be a better idea to do."
Alexithymiaa: "And that way that little VIP service will ensure there arent any crazy kids running around in there for anyone to get hurt, and he'll have the best help getting in and out of the pits." He said, fairly pleased with his idea. "Everyone wins. And I'm sure Haven will love it too."-
Covet: "So it will just be me and Haven running around, no other kids?" Connor said kind of in awe, because that never happens. // Kelsey thought it over some more, "Yeah, that could be good. Thank you...I probably would have messed this up without your suggestion." She said humbly.
Alexithymiaa: "That's right." He said to Connor with a smile, proud as fuck right now. "Honestly I think he'll be happy regardless of what we do. He just wants to spend time with his family."-
Covet: " Wow, that will be cool. Nobody to run into." He said with a grin. // "Yeah, you're right. I just want him to be able to do some fun, enjoyable, good memory things." Kelsey said as she closed her laptop, unable to think about her essay now.
Alexithymiaa: "Well that's what we're going to do. And if you can get the team jerseys before then, cool, but I dont think it'll be necessary when he gets to be with his family enjoying himself and having some fun. That's the real birthday present."-
Covet: "But hopefully we can get the shirts. I think that would mean a lot to Grandpa too." // Kelsey nodded, "Yeah, we can order pizza and have it delivered to the place too, that way nobody has to worry about dinner."
Alexithymiaa: "Can't go wrong with pizza." He said with a shake of his head, leaning back in his seat. "You know what might be a cool idea, Connor? If you got him one of thise big giant mugs that say number one grandpa on it and you sign your nail on it for him so it's special."-
Covet: "Can we go to Kil'n it and make him a mug that says that Dad?" Connor asked, referencing the pottery making place that I just decided is around. // Kelsey smiled, "I think that would be a great idea kiddo, he'd love it even more if it was made by hand."

Alexithymiaa: "See? Last minute, but still special. Everything is going to work out just perfectly." He said proudly, picking his fork up to scrap at the gravy and residue on his plate to play with it. "Do we want to surprise him with it?"-

Covet: "Yeah!" Connor said all sorts of excited now. // Kelsey looked at them, her guilt easing up a little bit. She'd still have to figure out something special for just her to give him, but she'd figure that out by sunday. "Do you want the rest of my wrap?" She asked Brad because she wasn't going to finish it.
Alexithymiaa: (Im so into it)
Alexithymiaa: -He looked across the table at her wrap, reaching over without a word to pick it up and look inside. "Is this avocado" He asked her and then didnt wait for a response and started to pick it out which is not easy if its ripe. He's dumb.'-
Covet: Connor finished his soup and leaned back putting his hands on his stomach, something Kelsey had seen Brad do plenty of times, "Man that was good, now my tummy is full, and I can sleep like a rock." // Kelsey chuckled at Connor, "Sometimes I swear he's your child by blood." She said to Brad, "Yes it is. You want to take that with us so we can get home and get Mr. Full tummy to bed?"
Alexithymiaa: -He was working on picking it out when he noticed that he was just smearing it into the wrap more, giving up and dropping it onto his plate. "Nah, it's not worth it. Im never going to get this out and its just going to taste like avocado." He glanced at Connor, sliding out of the booth as he laughed. "Nurture over nature."-
Covet: Kelsey nodded her head, and nudged Connor out of the booth so that she could get her laptop into her bag and they could get home to do the sleep things.
