<Earthflame> Also, pondering it a bit CD, I'd kinda like to run a eurofantasy game at some point. But first I need to get this game running regularly, which I've been doing a shitty job of for the last month or so.

<Earthflame> I was thinking I'd put a broader spin on 'Eurofantasy'. In addition to the anglo, french and german-esque countries, there'd be grecoroman areas with nymphs and satyrs, a spanish/iberian peninsula with Djinni and Efreeti, norse nations in the north etc.
<Earthflame> Also I might use a funny idea I had for elves as a race.

<CD|Workan> Russia is Ussura

<Earthflame> But yeah. The idea for elves? That as a species, their primary and secondary sexual characteristics are unconnected. So how an elf looks has no relation to their actual sex.

<CD|Workan> so...kinda like the barbs we're visiting in ID's game, except extended to the physical and not just social constructs?
<Earthflame> Sorta. While the islanders have a different notion of gender, that sort of elf would consider the whole idea of 'Male' and 'Female' an amusingly meaningless distinction, if only because it's very hard to categorise an elf as either without deep inspection. (Naturally, elves naturally born with both organs are a thing :P)

Just a clarification that despite being small they are not childlike, and exhibit unique proportions and developed sexual characteristics etc. Dwarves... Hmm. 'They all look like men' is funny, but I'm sure there's something more interesting that can be done with it.

<CD|Workan> Dwarves *require* a level of heavy metals in their bodies to conceive, levels which would be lethal to any of the other races.
<Earthflame> I'm actually pondering that they might have a caste based society.
<Earthflame> Based on the materials present during conception/maturation/whatever.
<Earthflame> The basic caste are the workers, based on stone. The metal castes are the warriors and craftsmen, and the ruling classes are the jewels.
<Earthflame> Hmm. Egg laying would actually make sense with the 'They all lay eggs' thing. No need for obvious mammaries or other secondary sexual characteristics.

<Earthflame> Also, males are the ones most concerned with collecting beautiful stones/precious metals/gems, to woo a mate. Even a stone caste dwarf can hope to give his mate a nest of marble, so that their child will have better prospects than if they had to settle for granite.
<CD|Workan> have the odd chance for upward mobility by the occasional find of the next-caste-up material? Maybe they're even for sale, except the pricing is carefully controlled so that only the most Scroogelike, scrimping, saving dwarf has even a chance to obtain it
<Earthflame> Yeah. Of course, this is also a reason a lot of Stone and Metal dwarves leave their traditional society and go to places where caste matters less.

<Earthflame> Surface dwelling dwarves, who might have to resort to nests of dirt or wood, are looked down upon by the traditionalists, but really they're no worse than any other.

<Earthflame> So humans with weird mixes of traits are relatively common.
