- I found some weird stuff regarding vehicles.
- So there are 3 types of vehicles in the game. One of them is the rocket-bike, which only appears in Granny Canyon's minigame, but that's not the interesting one.
- The other two can be found in the levels: the shopping cart in Looningdale's and the floor polisher in Samsonian Museum. I decided to test how vehicles and items interacted together.
- There are 5 different items you can pick up: Invisibility Potion, Hiccup Can, Burp Can, Chilli Pepper and Bubble Gum. Only the first two exist in either of those two levels. The Invisibility Potion works as expected, Taz becomes invisible (though it doesn't really matter because guards and boxes ignore you while on a vehicle). The Hiccup Can is a bit more interesting.
- In Samsonian Museum, there's a Hiccup Can right after the 4-piece Sign. For this glitch to work, you need to pick up a Hiccup Can while on the vehicle, or pick it up, get on a vehicle then wait for a hiccup. That means you have to bring the floor polisher all the way from its starting spot to the chessboard. You don't actually need to cross it with the floor polisher (though it is possible), just pick up the can, quickly cross the chessboard back and hop on.
- In Looningdale's there is also a Hiccup Can, and you've probably never seen it. In the room with the Kite Sign, there is a stack of boxes that goes really high up. On top of it, there's a Hiccup Can. You can climb the box tower by continuously mashing A. Be careful with the guard, he might catch you on the way down (and if you want to kill him, be careful not to destroy the boxes with your costume). Of course, you need to get on the vehicle before the power-up runs out, so you'll probably want to steal the shopping cart first by driving it into the entrance gates of the supermarket.
- So what happens when you hiccup on a vehicle? First you jump really high, as usual, but then you get stuck in the animation for the hiccup (same thing happens if you hiccup with the Escape the Cage glitch). You can still walk normally, but no jumping, spinning, eating/spitting, screaming, tiptoeing, first-person mode or changing the camera. After a while/touching dynamite/getting hit by a regular enemy, the vehicle will disappear, and you'll be in a glitch state: on a vehicle and not on one at the same time.
- Time to list all the weird properties and oddities I've found (by the way, none of these are useful):
- - Both vehicles: The camera is pretty much locked in place.
- - Both vehicles: Guards and Boxes still see you; you can enter telephone booths and use your costume powers.
- - Floor Polisher: You still have the "cleaning" effect visual appear under your feet, but it doesn't actually clean the sign.
- - Floor Polisher: You still hear the vehicle's sound effect.
- - Floor Polisher: Entering the toilet will make you stuck: the camera turns around and you start sliding up the sewer pipe, never able to go down (only tested this once, maybe you can still go down with another camera angle).
- - Shopping Cart: You can still get the stadium sign and explosion sign.
- - Shopping Cart: Entering the other Shopping Cart will make you go back to normal (since now you're actully in a vehicle). This makes the first shopping cart disappear from the level forever (until you reenter the course, obviously).
- - Shopping Cart: Drowning (HERE WE GO) is really weird: sometimes you reappear on an invisible shopping cart, sometimes the game crashes (I think this is the first known way to crash the game without hardware manipulation). I'm not exactly sure how either effect happens.
- When on the invisible shopping cart, you can jump out with A and the shopping cart becomes visible. Here's the weirdest effect: if you're wearing the DJ Costume before drowning and reappear on the invisible shopping cart, when you jump off the cart YOUR HAT WILL BE GONE! I have no idea why that happens. If you spin then stop spinning, it reappears.
- Another neat thing is that the music that's playing when you drown stays the same when you reappear on the shopping cart, since you never went back to normal walking Taz. That means you can tiptoe, walk into or spin into the water to reappear on the invisible shopping cart with the tiptoe, normal or spin music, respectively.
- I've tested these things on a Gamecube and on a PS2 emulator, since they crash for different reasons (see GIM in Ocarina of Time). Drowning without a costume on a glitched vehicle on the emulator didn't crash: Taz was on the last frame of the drowning animation on an invisible shopping cart (Taz was a quite a bit under the ground, since the animation takes you under the water's surface). Drowning with a costume resulted in the second case: riding an invisible shopping cart with the costume and jumping off made Taz's hat go away.
- Here's a video of the glitch + the crash (WARNING!!! Loud noise at the end of the video!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYr5yaHy0A4
- That's pretty much it. Shame you can't drown in the Museum or use other items, would be cool to see Vehicle + Bubble Gum.
