/r/LiveCounting Rules and FAQ planning

Rules:

1. No double-counting (this means replying to yourself). The point of the subreddit is to allow people to count together.

2. Always put the number first. Comments are fine, but please leave at least one space before them. This is so the updates can be parsed more easily by /u/rschaosid's magical bots.

3. Do not use bots that count for you. This again defeats the point of the subreddit and, while hard to actually enforce, is a bannable offence. Feel free to use bots for gathering statistics, pointing out errors, or other productive things.

3. Follow any rules on individual threads. The thread creator has the final decision over these rules and the enforcement of them, but you are welcome to make suggestions.

4. If you notice an error in someone's update, let them know as quickly as possible and, without breaking Live Counting Etiquette, attempt to remedy the problem yourself.

5. As always, do not post porn, gorn, child abuse or kitten strangling: keep everything SFW. You could be banned from the subreddit without warning for such heinous crimes. In addition to this, it would be great to keep flaming, spamming and trolling to a minimum.

Live Counting Etiquette:

1. Do not delete or strike any older updates whatsoever (whether your own or not) without letting other people know. It's not fun having to go back one-hundred statuses because someone deleted their comment!

2. As a thread owner, you should not under any circumstances delete someone's comment without first telling them. This is to avoid holes in the counting.

3. If you believe an update is incorrect (and it is very recent), you may strike it without the owner's permission. Otherwise, the rules above still apply.

4. Check to see if a thread already exists before making another one. Live threads do not expire, so you can still use an old one.

5. Do not fill your flair with things you didn't do! It has happened before and, while it doesn't do any harm, it's mildly to moderately moronic.
