  2. A Modern Greek Tragedy

  5.
  6.
  7.
  8. We have been invited today to “celebrate” "Turning the tide: The Greek National

  14. Effort to exit the crisis". Despite the title’s positive connotations, this event’s

  19.
  20. honouree, Health Minister Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, belongs to a political class that is
  21.
  22.
  23.
  24.
  25.
  26. pushing the Greek people further into despair, making sure our country can never exit
  27.
  28.
  29.
  30.
  31.
  32. Mr. Georgiadis himself presents with a shameful record as Health Minister. His first

  34.
  35.
  36.
  37.
  38. action (July ’13) was to reinstate Health Decree 39A, which stipulates forced testing

  87.
  88.
  89.
  90.
  91.
  92. Despite these frightfully uninformed, disingenuous, and cynical musings of Mr.
  93.
  94.
  95.
  96.
  97.
  98. Georgiadis, the Greek government officially refuses to acknowledge the evidence that

  101.

  103.

  110. it opts to discredit the scientific research!
  111.
  112.
  113.
  114.
  115.
  116. Contrary to Mr. Georgiadis’ propaganda, the actual evidence is shocking.
  117.
  118.
  119.
  120.
  121.
  122. • Public spending on health is now less than in any other European Union

  124.
  125.
  126.
  127.
  128. • Almost one third of the population is currently, or shall be in the near future,

  163.
  164. • Previously free and accessible national health services are now being cut and

  172.
  173.

  260. Georgiadis’ personal and institutional response to Greece’s public health tragedy has
  261.

  284. its notorious ‘Success Story’ of foisting neoliberal economic policies on society.

  286.
  287.
  288.
  289.
  290. These policies kill and Mr. Georgiadis is here to promote the suffering of our people.
