1. >You are Anon.
2. >Speck kissed you when Celestia raised the sun that morning.
3. >You panicked and ran home.
4. >She tried to catch you, but you were somehow able to outrun her.
5. >The minute you got inside the house, you sprinted upstairs, into the bathroom to wash your hair and neck.
6. >Speck sat outside the door, waiting to pounce.
7. >She wasn't going to get that opportunity.
8. >You open the door.
9. >She looks up at you.
10. >You do your best to ignore it.
11. >You're busy being conflicted over your feelings.
12. >You don't need that adorable little bat swaying your feelings.
13. >"Anon? Are you okay?"
14. >Ignoring her, you walk past her and down the hall, to her room.
15. >You collected as many bricks as you could and sat down in the corner.
16. >A small box made of bricks was quickly erected.
17. >Speck watched you the whole time, and now sat outside of it.
18. >She wasn't doing anything.
19. >She knows you'll have to come out eventually.
20. >And you know the same.
21. >You were doing good on time so far.
22. >By your guess it was already noon.
23. >She taps on the box.
24. >You remove one of the bricks in the side and peer out.
25. >Her dull orange eyes peer in at you, a look of sadness glazed over them.
26.
27. >This pulls at your heart, so you look away.
28. >"Anon?"
29. "Yeah?"
30. >She sticks her muzzle in the hole.
31. >"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that."
32. >You look at her nose.
33. >Her fangs poke out from between her lips.
34. >Why are you just now noticing the small things about her?
35. "It's alright, Speck. It was just... surprising."
36. >She smiles softly.
37. >Oh, come on.
38. >You push the brick against her muzzle and she backs out.
39. >You reblock the hole.
40. >She taps on another brick and it falls to the floor at your side.
41. >"Can you come out now?"
42. "No."
43. >She sighs and starts tapping on another brick.
44. >You replace the previous one before she knocks the new one out.
45. >"Please?"
46. "No."
47. >She starts stomping around the room.
48. >"Why not, Anon?!"
49. >You know why.
50. >You're scared.
51. >You're scared that you might actually love this bat p0ny.
52. >And you're scared that you might screw it up somewhere down the road and lose her as a friend.
53. >But she hasn't given up yet.
54. >Do you really think that she could ever hate you for anything you did?
55.
56. >You are now Speck.
57. >Anon's being a little filly right now.
58. >He won't come out of his brick box, nor will he let you in.
59. >It's upsetting you, because you're scared you messed up.
60. >You thought he liked you like that.
61. >You thought that was why he put up with you.
62. >Wasn't that why he let you live with him?
63. >That was why he let you sleep in his bed, right?
64. >You're so close to crying, but the tears won't fall.
65. >You start tapping on more bricks.
66. >He replaces them as soon as you knock them out.
67. "Anon, please. I want to come inside."
68. >"No."
69. >You stomp your hooves again.
70. "Anon, if you don't let me in, I'll knock these walls down!"
71. >He pulls a brick out and looks through the hole.
72. >You can see tears in his eyes.
73. >Is he... crying?
74. "Anon...? I'm sorry, please don't cry! I'll go away, I won't bother you anymore!"
75. >He shakes his head and puts his hand through the hole.
76. >He caresses your face and scratches under your chin.
77. >Your tears finally trail down your cheeks.
78. >You lean into his touch, but he removes his arm as soon as you do.
79. >Looking up, you can hardly see anything through your tears.
80. >But it looks like Anon is removing the bricks from around him.
81. >He reaches under your front arms and pulls you into the small brick house.
82. >It's cozy in here.
83. >You whisper faintly, trying to cover up how shaky and cracky your voice is.
84. "I'm so sorry."
85. >He hugs you tightly and buries his face into your mane.
86. >You hug him back, nuzzling into his chest.
87. >"I don't want to see you cry, Speck."
88. >He strokes your mane.
89. >"I want you to be happy, but I don't think love is something we can really give each other."
90. >You're starting to feel sick.
91. >You try not to cry.
92. >You try as hard as you can to keep it down, but you can't.
93. >Anon's shirt soaks almost instantaneously as you begin to sob against him.
94. >He just holds you tighter as he strokes your back and mane.
95. >You feel him smile into your mane.
96.
97. >"I think it's something we'd be better off sharing."
98. >You look up at him.
99. >You have the most angry expression on your face right now.
100. >He grins and reaches for your face.
101. >You back off of him and start hitting his chest with your hooves.
102. >He responds with a few faked 'oof's and 'ouch's.
103. >Your sobs don't stop as you hit him.
104. >He reaches for you and pulls you in for a hug as you slow your assault.
105. >You rest your chin on his chest, hooves wrapping around his chest.
106. "You're such a jerk, Anon."
107. >"I know."
108. >You snicker and press yourself closer to him.
109. >He hugs you tighter.
110. "Can we go enjoy the rest of the festival now, you drama queen?"
111. >"Me? A drama queen? I'm not the one who -"
112. >You place a hoof on his mouth.
113. >It's time to stop talking.
114. >He crawls out of the brick house with you in tow.
115. >You fly beside him as the two of you head downstairs and out the door.
116. >The entire town is filled with p0nies.
117. >So much so that Anon has a hard time moving through the crowds.
118. "Having trouble, Anon?"
119. >He grabs you and tucks you under his arm.
120. >"Yup. But now I'm not alone."
121. >You wiggle your hooves and try to flap your wings.
122. >You wish he'd stop holding you like this.
123. >But at least he's holding you.
124. >He makes you so happy, and even more-so that he feels the same way about you.
125. "Anon?"
126. >"Hm?"
127. "I want to ride that."
128. >You point off into the horizon, far to the other side of town.
129. >A large wheel with small carriages looms in the distance.
130. >"The Ferris wheel?"
131. >You nod and smile.
132. >He shrugs.
133. >"Sure, why not? We just have to get through this crowd."
134. >He continues shuffling through the many p0nies gathered around.
135. >It took a while, getting across town.
136. >Between you and Anon getting hungry and playing a few games along the way.
137. >Plus the massive crowd of p0nies all clambering to see the princesses or find food of their own.
138. >The clocktower says that about four hours have passed since you and Anon left home.
139. >Six hours until the sun sets and the festival ends.
140.
141. >You are now Anon.
142. >Speck continues to wriggle under your arm as you carry her through the crowd of p0nies.
143. >She really is cute.
144. >And as much as you hate to say it, you do kind of feel the same way about her that she does you.
145. >You figured, why not?
146. >You've been in this world for five years and you've been alone the whole time.
147. >You gave up on any hope of returning to your world a long time ago.
148. >So again, why not?
149. >Speck was an absolute joy to be around.
150. >She was sweet, caring, funny.
151. >Albeit, a little obnoxious with her puns, but you guess you could get over it.
152. >"Anon? Why are you being so quiet?"
153. >You shrug.
154. "Just thinking about stuff."
155. >"What kind of stuff?"
156. >She smiles up at you and you smile back.
157. "Just stuff."
158. >She wiggles in your arm.
159. >"Can I sit on your shoulders?"
160. >You let go over her as you move into a less crowded space.
161. >She flies up behind you and wraps her hind legs around your neck, her forehooves holding herself steady as she leans against your head.
162. >She was still sticky from that mango this morning.
163. >And you still really hope all of it was just mango juice.
164. >The clocktower starts to chime.
165. >5PM.
166. >Five hours til sunset.
167. >You want to get to the Ferris wheel by then.
168. >Time seems to progress so quickly in this world.
169. >But you know that isn't the case.
170. >During your first week in Equestria, you sat in front of a clock and counted thousands as it ticked.
171. >Sixty thousands for a minute.
172. >Speck taps on your head and points toward a small tent.
173. >A Fortune Teller.
174. >That could be interesting.
175. >"Can we go?"
176. >She's excited over a carnival style Fortune Teller's tent.
177. >You are too, but you don't show it.
178. "Sure, I guess."
179. >Nonchalant attitude.
180. >Chicks dig it.
181.
182. >You push through the crowd of ponies and look at a sign by the tent.
183. >Madame Lulamoon's Fantastical Tent of Fortune Telling.
184. >Ten bits per reading.
185. >Eh, why not.
186. >You had plenty saved up from your job.
187. >You never bought anything.
188. >"Ah, welcome, welcome. I have foretold your coming."
189. >This is so cheesy.
190. >"Let me guess..."
191. >The blue mare waves her hooves around a small crystal ball.
192. >"You are here to have your fortunes told?"
193. >Speck nods enthusiastically, taking a seat at the table in the middle of the tent.
194. >You sit next to her and slap ten bits on the table.
195. >Madame Lulamoon flips her white mane and waves her hooves in front of the crystal.
196. >She closes her eyes and hums a tune.
197. >It's calming.
198. >Speck has also closed her eyes.
199. >She smiles as she listens to the tune.
200. >Madame Lulamoon opens her eyes and gazes into the ball.
201. >She has a look of absolute pain and sadness as she addresses Speck.
202. >"I see... much pain and loss in your future."
203. >She smiles warmly.
204. >"But I see... much happiness and joy and love too. And what you believe the most, may very well be true."
205. >Speck stares up at you, a look of awe on her face.
206. >Madame Lulamoon turns to you.
207. >"And... and you..."
208. >You raise an eyebrow in anticipation.
209. >"I see much conflict in your heart. I see a fear in your soul."
210. >She has a look of absolute amazement now.
211. >"I see just as much happiness and love in your future as I do hers..."
212. >You raise an eyebrow.
213. >"But I see that you are not what you claim to be."
214. >No.
215. >This is real.
216. >This isn't some cheap trick, or flashy magic, or lucky guessing.
217. >You start to glare at the fortune teller.
218. >She takes the hint and backs off, quickly coming up with some fake ending.
219. >"You are not the amazing baker everyone believes you are..."
220. >Speck giggles and bounces in her seat.
221. >"Oh, Anon this is so cool."
222.
223. >Speck walks out of the tent, expecting you to follow her.
224. >You should make this quick.
225. "If you tell anyone what you saw, I will not hesitate to find you."
226. >Madame Lulamoon smiles.
227. >"I understand completely, Mr. Anonymous. You love that mare, and you would protect her from anything. Even the truth."
228. >You glare at her and stand, getting ready to leave the tent.
229. >"You know Princess Sparkle, do you not?"
230. >You turn and nod.
231. >"My great-great-grandmother was... a friend of hers. Before she became a princess."
232. "What does that have to do with me?"
233. >She smiles at you.
234. >"I'd like you to give her the Lulamoon family's regards the next time you see her."
235. >You sigh.
236. "Yeah. I'll do that, on one condition."
237. >Speck yells from outside the tent.
238. >"Anon! Hurry up!"
239. "Give me a minute, Speck!"
240. >You look at the fortune teller.
241. "Tell me what you saw in Speck's future that would cause her pain and loss."
242. >She sighs and stands from the table.
243. >She turns from you and shakes her head.
244. >"I'm not supposed to tell specific details, but for you... I can make an exception."
245. >She turns to you, tears in her eyes.
246. >"It is not her who will feel pain and loss. It is you, Anonymous."
247. "Me? Why?"
248. >She covers her mouth with a hoof, her voice barely audible.
249. >You make it out and feel absolutely sick to your stomach.
250. "Speck will perish in a great battle. You will not be able to stop it. I'm so sorry."
251.
252. >You are now Speck.
253. >Anon is carrying you on his shoulders again, and you are having the time of your life.
254. >He's enjoying himself too, as he runs around.
255. >Everything you've suggested so far, he's gone out of his way to take you to.
256. >Ring toss.
257. >Bumper wagons.
258. >That lame, rigged bottle game.
259. >He's acting different.
260. >But not the bad kind of different.
261. >The good kind where he's more pleasant to hang out with.
262. >The clocktower chimes nine o'clock.
263. >Anon scratches your ear and you press yourself against the back of his head.
264. >"Ready for the Ferris wheel?"
265. >You nuzzle into his hair and smile.
266. "Yes."
267. >He starts walking over to the Ferris wheel.
268. >You weren't very far from it.
269. >He sets you down as you get in line.
270. >You walk forward, ready to take your seat in one of the carriages.
271. >Anon whispers something to the operator.
272. >The operator nods and smiles slyly at you.
273. >Anon steps back to your side and strokes your mane.
274. >"Ready?"
275. >You nod and smile at him.
276. >Your heart flutters when he smiles back.
277. >He climbs into the carriage and you follow him in, sitting beside him.
278. >The massive machine begins to whir and glow as it rotates.
279. >It does this several times as more p0nies board.
280. >The sun was starting to set as the ride began turning fully.
281. >Oddly enough, it stops as you and Anon are near the top.
282. "Did it break down?"
283. >"Probably. These kinds of things were shoddy back in my world, and I doubt they'd be much better here."
284. >You snicker and look out on the horizon.
285. >The sun was absolutely beautiful.
286. >You turn to Anon.
287. "So, about this morn-"
288. >You're interrupted as Anon grabs your face and swiftly pulls you close to his.
289. >He locks his lips with yours as you gasp from surprise.
290. >The kiss breaks off and you cover your mouth with a hoof.
291. >Your face must be more red than the sky right now.
292. >He chuckles and pulls you close to him, holding you tight.
293. >He whispers in your ear as you bury your face in his shoulder.
294.
"I love you too, Speck."
