Press conference & protest Sunday to demand end to Israeli assault on Gaza

(CHICAGO 07/19/2014) – The Chicago Coalition for Justice in Palestine, supported by a diverse group of interfaith partners, is holding a press conference at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, in front of the Tribune Tower, 435 N Michigan Ave., Chicago.

The press conference will feature Ahmed Hamad, a member of Students for Justice in Palestine-Chicago, who lost six family members in Gaza recently when Israel bombed their house. Israel has been indiscriminately attacking civilians, and airstrikes have wiped out entire families. Over 300 Palestinians have been killed, with more than 1,500 injured.

The protest will begin with a student ‘die-in’ to commemorate the victims of Israel’s latest assault on Gaza. The march will begin at approximately 4 p.m., and will pass NBC, ABC and CBS to protest the lack of Palestinian representation in mainstream media reports. The march will end at the Israeli consulate, 500. W. Madison.

The purpose of the protest and march is to demand an immediate end to Israel’s assault on Gaza, its indiscriminate attacks on civilians, an end to US military aid to Israel and to compel the media to start giving Palestinians equal representation in their coverage of the crisis.
