  1. from /hhg/ Helluva Hotel general #707
  2. ----------------------------------------
  3. As much as I find that off the cuff tweet about "sinners" not being able to leave the top circle of Hell to be stupid, it would be the only explanation as to why there are Exterminations in the first place
  4.
  5. Look at all that space, empty land that could easily support huge populations of people.
  6.
  7. Considering there does not even seem to be a functional government in hell outside of some pseudo Somalia tier non-existent group, there would be nothing to stop some giant corporation from bulldozing the farms and making giant urban metropolises, who cares about farm food when the sinners will just cannibalize themselves.
  8.
  9. In fact, Charlie should just turn to become an urban developer. I'm sure you could waylay the Exterminations if you bulldoze the upper ring and rebuild it in a giant ecumenopolis or a mega-city.
  10. -
  11. Even just replacing certain now-redunant parts of the city (districts destroyed by turf wars, or ones that belonged to an overlord that had become brownfield areas due to neglect or that overlord's death) with housing estates would improve the situation.
  12. Why keep slums around when you can just build highrises and the like.
  13. The Soviets had proven that you can do this on the cheap, AND improve the life quality of the residents with some good planning (literally one of the few things they were good at):

  15.
  16. I mean, it wouldn't be pretty, but it would be liveable for the average sinner.
  17. -
  18. Of course the logical argument could be made that Charlie lacks the resources, respect, fear and/or the authority to go for a mass urban redevelopment and thus has to go for more low-cost/citizen impact ideas.
  19.
  20. I recall that Viv said that Lucifer does not give a shit about the welfare of the sinners of Hell. Which naturally explains why no such real attempt to resolve the overpopulation crisis has been made. As far as Luci is concerned, Heaven is bearing the brunt of the cost of managing the crisis, and he's segregated from the punished masses (throw in some contempt for Humanity and you've got your apathetic leader)
  21.
  22. Charlie's idea may be far fetched and fantastical. But it may well be the most realistic thing she can do in her position.
  23. -
  24. Yeah.
  25. ---
  26. >Dictator Charlie accidentally solved the overpopulation problem with infrastructure but then kept killing people anyway

  28. -
  29. It's implied in the story that even with nearly all of Hell being reduced to tower blocks, overpopulation remained an issue, so a set number of people are still liquidated on a daily basis.
  30. ---
  31. I think the "overpopulation" problem is about more than there just not being enough space, otherwise why bother sending exterminators down? If its just sinners sleeping in filth on the stairs of an overcrowded apartment building, Onions Green-style, who gives a sht? It's HELL they're there to suffer, let them rot instead of organizing a huge fighting force to cull them annually. I think having an excessively large demon population might pose some sort of threat to the mortal world or to Heaven (there is that one segment in the opening of the pilot where you have all those demonic-looking eyes focusing on earth), hence why Heaven is so concerned about Hell's population.
  32. -
  33. That could be it.
  34. But if average sinners can't even cross into the other rings, what chance do they have crossing back onto Earth?
  35. Only Hellborne demons seem to be capable of that.
  36. -
  37. Maybe its some kind of collective power thing. Get enough sinners together and they can start pulling off weird sht, like the orks and their bullsht collective unconscious reality bending.
  38. -----
  39. Oh
  40. >Charlie's fw she originally seized control of Hell because she thought that forcing the housing infrastructure project would be enough to fix the overpopulation problem
  41. >Her fw it wasn't enough to fix things
  42. >Her fw she had to use her new power to enforce more drastic measures
  43. >She didn't mean to become a monster, she swears
  44. -
  45. That's an interesting angle.
  46. >rather than going fully BurgSys on day one, Charlie slowly eased into the mayhem, as her more and more drastic plans failed to bring about the results
  47. >eventually, she just stopped caring - there was no-one left to oppose her, and the sinners would only keep on piling up
  48. >it's even better this way - rather than an eternity of mind-numbing torment, their existence, and therefore, their suffering, would eventually come to an end
  49.
  50. >or, at least, that's what she keeps telling herself
  51. -
  52. >Started off trying to peacefully coax sinners into redeeming themselves and leaving Hell entirely
  53. >Lost her mother to an exterminator
  54. >Developed a more personal hatred for Heaven and became more willing to use force to improve things rather than just trying to sweet talk everyone into playing nice
  55. >First attempt didn't work out
  56. >Second attempt didn't either
  57. >Third times the charm? Hardly
  58. >Eventually she just gave up and bitterly satisfied herself with maintaining the status quo
  59.
  60. Scans for me
  61. -
  62. It probably didn't help with hiw much katie made fun of charlie during the whole thing
  63. ---
  64. >Katie was among the first victims when Charlie finally broke and started using her authority as a tool of her own vindictiveness without any other motivation
  65. >Her assets?
  66. >Seized by the crown
  67. >The network she worked for?
  68. >Charged with lese-majeste
  69. >Her punishment?
  70. >A choice:
  71. >Option one: become a mouthpiece for the queen
  72. >Option two: have you seen the new enforcer prototypes?
  73. >You might not recognize them
  74. >But that's Razzle and Dazzle underneath all that armor and weaponry
  75. >You remember them, right?
  76. >They certainly remember you
  77. >Unfortunately, they're all but spent in their usefulness to the enforcer program
  78. >Her Royal Highness needs a new subject to experiment on
  79. >You wouldn't want to be pressed into service, would you Katie?
  80. ---
  81. >insult some blonde lesbo - allegedly the Princess of Hell - about how bullsht her idea is to "redeem" sinners
  82. >after all, you've been there for 20+ years, working your ass off, even more so than you did while you were alive, just to get into a position of relative comfort
  83. >needle her on until she insults, try to claw her eyes out, humiliating her in the process
  84.
  85. >a year later, Queen Lilith dies during the Extermination
  86. >Well, sht
  87. >...oh, the blonde lesbo WAS her daughter
  88. >...in a couple of months, Lucifer is dead
  89. >his daughter takes the helm
  90. >starts purging Hell's nobility
  91. >bulldozers all of Pentagram, erects a massive commie housing estate in its place to solve overpopulation
  92. >it's not enough
  93. >she then starts to exterminate Sinners, with numbers tattooed on their arms an all
  94.
  95. >for some reason, she spared you
  96. >you are now forced to give a dry presentation about the daily deaths, production numbers, etc, for hours on end, every day
  97. >there's no alchol, drgs, tobaco - anything to numb the pain of existence
  98.
  99. >so far, you haven't been given a number, nor shoved into one of the concrete boxes to review every mistake you've ever made to end up where you are until your time's up...
  100. >...and yet, you spend every night, tearlessly weeping yourself into sleep, recounting your role in this atrocity
  101. -------------------
  102. So how "canon" is primce anon getting a black eye in D. Charlie?
  103. -
  104. *Prince
  105. I am very tired
  106. -
  107. same
  108. -
  109. He probably doesn't.
  110. If anything, it's the indication of the alt. timeline, where he sticks around, and is actually there to stop Solagne from killing Lilith.
  111. ---
  112. It's not d. charlie
  113. ---
  114. I kind of got the opposite sense; him having a falling out of his own with his family would be ample motivation to fk off to Purgatory and get away from everyone, but then I suppose him going to the hotel to be with Charlie does point to him sticking around
  115. -
  116. It's not d. charlie you tardlt
  117. ----------
  118. >Dictator Charlie, but it's a mash-together of AU and the Anonverse
  119. >Anon is somewhat relieved to hear that there are people who want to help his sister's project, although they're quite strange - very different from the usual sinners
  120. >a lot of them have very far-reaching connections, too, but all seem to have little interest in power
  121. >the attack on Lilith happens, but it is thwarted by both Anon and Charlie's entire posse
  122. >Solagne is captured, but while Lucifer seems calm, the "anons" around Charlie are furious
  123. >they convince both Charlie and Anon to take a stance on the matter
  124.
  125. >with some clever political manouvering, alliances and the like, Charlie and Anon are put into power
  126. >not as Royalty, but as paramount leaders
  127. >Charlie's effectively a dictator, with Anon as her Second-in-Command, and the anons and Charlie's friends from the hotel acting as the staff of her new regime
  128. >instead of some Burgundian System malarkey, the anons and Anon himself keep Charlie on the straight and narrow - not that that's all that necessary, as there's no tragedy to send her down a path of totalitarianism
  129. >Hell itself now functions as more or less the same, except less chaotic, with a tentative rule of law replacing the "might makes right" set-up it had before
  130. >there are still some anomalies, and the government seems to swing between being a minarchy to full-blown socialism, but over-all, it's far more stable than before, with redemption being mandatory, though with an optional starting date, sinners being introduced to other rings of Hell, and with renewed negotiations with Heaven
  131. >it's hard work, but Charlie isn't alone, so it's steady-going, while her father enjoys some much-needed rest in retirement, with the copyright on his themeparks now firmly enforced by the state to put an end to Mammon's shenanigans
  132. -
  133. At last, we have achieved autism singularity!
  134. So what happens to Solagne then, with 20 angry donut steeles all shooting her death glares. They just gonna parade her through the streets Roman victory parade style?
  135. -
  136. Nah, she still pretty much imprisoned. The anons are more pissed at Heaven not being able to obey it's OWN apparent rules, and actively wanting to pick a fight with Hell, thus bringing about Doomsday prematurely.
  137. -
  138. >Stretch to Solagne: "You do realize that completing your mission probably would have set the end of days in motion, right?"
  139. >"I had my orders"
  140. >"Holy crackers you're a daft fking nutcase"
