Realistic RP

Ok this is a hardcore role play server and the RP is expected to be realistic. Staff often make the statement that "We ban for fail role play not bad role play."

Well why not?

The difference between here and other communities is that we have better RP and staff that enforce the rules. Why can't realistic role play be a a rule? I constantly see Player Reports where a couple gang members drive around the city and shoot everything they see, then steal a cop car, ram a couple people, drive around the PD in the stolen car, get stopped, ask for a lawyer, argue that they were just having fun, get jailed, say getting jailed for 2 hours for killing 3 people, robbing another 3, stealing a cop car, and evading is unrealistic, unfair, and is ruining their RP only to go and do the same thing again once they get out of jail.

I keep referring to Linus, but he made a good post called "Something to Think About" (I hope that was the title) and in it focused on the point where people need have the chance to have fun and do what they like. People he like to role play and have fun is what Linus capitalized on. Cops like to have meaningless pull overs, some civs like to farm cotton and not get shot at, lawyers like to represent, and judges love to have court cases where they don't get trolled.

Fun and fair need to go hand and hand and it isn't fair for people to have to reconsider playing because they know they are going to get shot at. A cop shouldn't have to worry about getting kidnapped when repairing their car or every time they pull someone over. A lawyer shouldn't have to be extorted by a gang to represent them always. A judge should be able to go to the courthouse IN-GAME and not have to worry about someone running in and shooting them or yelling the N word from the outside.

I don't mean for this to seem harsh, but take my in-character role for a second. I am the District Attorney, and on a daily basis, these of the different things that myself and Frank do: process applications for Bounty Hunters, Investigators, Prosecutors, and the PD, we handle complaints on Investigators, Officers, Prosecutors, and Lawyers, we review SOP in our section, the Prosecutor section, and ensure the PD is properly operating, we investigate those that we work along side, and we work to improve relations between civs, the PD and were trying with EMS for a bit. I have been an officer since February and take what I do very serious and as a result am now in a position where I get banned if I'm corrupt. I enjoy what I do, but don't go in-game because I don't enjoy getting shot, going to the hospital, getting shot, and repeating the process. I have not been able to sit and investigate without getting shot at since the beginning of August.

I know everyone has similar stories and we pride ourselves on our good role play so why not defend that title? Every staff member has individually said "I wish I could ban for bad role play."
