The Rakhnid Mountains

No one has ever truly conquered the Rakhnid Mountains, even though the Kharbians claim the honor. A man can be born in the mountain range and die in it while never stopping at the same site twice. Rakhnid is the heart of Coulerain and it beats at night, especially in the highest peaks of the east where the Bigdon volcano lies, seemingly dormant.

Home to the outcasts of the coasts, the Rakhnid Mountains are a hodgepodge of Tabaxi, Kenku, Lizardfolk and other tribes seeking a peaceful way of life. The land is hard but it can bear enough fruit and game to feed its people.

The mountains know nothing of peace though, they are the thorns that keep the continent of Coulerain from one unified rule and every great ruler since the Dawn of Days has shed his people blood on these cliffs and hills.

Will the mountains learn of peace or will another try to unite Coulerain despite these thorns in his path, is that what the recent uptick of volcanic activity signifies, the return of the Age of Heroes or the end of it?
