  1. >Lincoln hadn't seen Ms. Johnson's english homework in years.
  2. >Just seeing it gave him flashbacks.
  3. >"Man, semicolons are stupid."
  4. >"Lana, don't be like that, all you gotta do is remember where it goes."
  5. >"Linkyyyy"
  6. >Lincoln felt a tug on his shirt.
  7. >Lily was standing next to him, her eyes sparkling with desire.
  8. >"Sorry, Lily, not right now, I gotta help out Lana with her homework."
  9. >"Okay, I understand."
  10. >Lily found her brother next in the kitchen with Lucy, the designated cook on tuesdays.
  11. >"I see you, Lily, but Lucy's gotta get dinner done in the next half-hour, so..."
  12. >"Alright."
  13. >Much later that evening, Lily found her brother cuddled up to Lisa.
  14. >No words passed between anyone.
  15. >But Lily knew the answer.
  16. >"Not now, Lily."
  17. >Lisa's eyes were red with tears, and Lily felt herself tear up a bit too.
  18. >And there she sat in her room, watching a couple of tears fall from her eyes every couple of seconds.
  19. >Did he really not care about her that much?
  20. >What did she do to deserve the silent treatment?
  21. Knock knock knock
  22. >"Lily?"
  23. >There was no answer she wanted to give.
  24. >"Lily, can we talk?"
  25. >"Yeah."
  26. >Lincoln sat on the floor near the door, and the two were silent for a bit.
  27. >"Lincoln, do you hate me?"
  28. >"Lily, I didn't mean to ignore or avoid you today. I should've taken your feelings into account. I should've made more time for you. I'm sorry, and you should be mad at me."
  29. >"I forgive you, on one condition."
  30. >Lincoln's ears perked up.
  31. >"Can you help me figure out what twenty-one plus nineteen is?"
  32. >Lincoln laughed.
  33. >"Is that all? So what you gotta remember with this is to carry the numbers..."
