  1. Mentor Rules
  2.
  3. Mentors are players entrusted by the server administrators to assist other players regarding gameplay related questions. As such, Mentors fall under the following rules in the performance of their duties.
  4.
  5. 1. Mentors are not permitted to answer any questions regarding server rules, policy, or administrative actions. They can only assist with gameplay related questions. Questions involving the above stated must be directed towards administrative staff.
  6.
  7. 2. Mentors are not permitted to "judge" gameplay related questions in light of server rules. A person asking how to make a weapon, kill someone, create a maxcap etc will be provided with that information within the following guideline framework.
  8.
  9. 3. As mentors are not administrators, any mentor opinion, suggestion, or similar is to be considered a personal view, which is not endorsed or shared by server administration. Mentors should state this as needed when giving viewpoints on the game, and attempt to make it clear they're not speaking for the server as a whole.
  10.
  11. 4. Mentors are not to give exact information regarding gameplay mechanics if possible. Vague wording and "pointing in the right direction" is preferrable to outright step by step instructions. Mentors CAN give step by step instructions on mechanics, if those steps are included in the Paradise wiki.
  12.
  13. 5. Mentors should make every attempt to contact admins regarding policy type questions. If all attempts to contact admins fail, the default answer regarding a "can I do..." policy question is to direct the player to the relevant area of the rules. If further pressed, mentors should again re-iterate reading of the rules, and clarify that mentors are not permitted to confirm or deny if an activity falls within the rules.
  14.
  15. 6. Mentors should strive to not give even the appearance of using meta knowledge during a game round. This includes deadminning if needed, not answering questions that personally involve the mentor, and ensuring behaviours do not change due to meta information gained via duties. If a mentor cannot perform the above, they are to cryo out of the round and observe. In the event that meta information would be immediately impacting to the round, (example: How do I use my armblade on {mentor's character standing next to me}) then mentors should allow the event to happen in favor of the mhelping player.
