- Astar was born into a fairly small town. Despite being on a somewhat well traveled path, it was severely xenophobic and superstitious, and with good reason. The town had seen necromancers and demon summoners try to conquer it before. Whether the summoner was an ancestor of the reclusive Delmoir family(who lived on the outskirts so they wouldn’t have to deal with people) was an occasional point of debate. Astar was raised in a town where all eyes were at him, and even at home they didn’t seem to fully go away. There were a few oddities around his birth, such as him apparently dying early on a newborn. It took Astar’s family a bit of time to realize their child looked dead when he slept, to the point where he didn’t even seem to be breathing. This and his natural talent for magic kept him under some suspicion, because his family feared it was some hint of overly demonic heritage that could potentially ruin their reclusive lifestyle. After all, they didn’t have sorcerer blood in their family. The feelings of being watched didn’t go away even when he slept. He could feel it always there, watching him seemingly. Always in the distance at night, but always watching him and sometimes calling him, beckoning him. It wasn’t someone else noticed ever, but he could feel it always watching him. It would summon him, his childish mind thought, steal him away while he was sleeping. The random dreams didn’t help either, sporadic dreams that had that same feeling of being called, always near his birthday. Astar took comfort in the law, took comfort in how it restrained people. He knew some would step outside of it, but he still felt safer knowing it existed and protected him. He didn’t have to be nearly as watchful as he felt he had to. Which was why he slipped up one day and the townsfolk learned exactly how much magical prowess he actually had. He was accused of being a warlock, of learning from his demon summoning ancestors. His parents didn’t offer any relief, supporting him privately, but shunning him in public for their own benefit. One day he said fuck it, and decided that if everyone was so determined to see him as a monster, then it was only fair he truly become a monster. He attacked a few aggressors and ran, seeking power and a way to silence the opinions of the small minded. Somewhere along the way, he decided that a local scale was too small, that he needed to do it on a global scale to make an impact.
