  2. [cB]Quirk
  3.
  4. [CU][Demon Spirit Manipulation]
  5.
  6. [C]Tanukipaw’s Quirk is unique in that it doesn’t share the same properties as many others. Passed down through bloodlines, it effectively alters the body to be far more susceptible host and seal a ‘demon spirit’ - a mass of pure energy - within it. Some with the Quirk never end up possessed, some die from the stress, some go insane. Those who are possessed sooner are able to sync with their demon better (to a degree) and survive. One with an active form of this quirk is named a Jinchūriki.
  7.
  8. [C][Universal Abilities]
  9.
  10. [C]Each demon has unique abilities and traits, but the base information is always true. The demon’s psyche ends up sealed within the user. It is able to freely communicate with them mentally, and is able to use a fraction of the demon’s energy subconsciously. The user inherits the spirit’s main ability, which makes up the bulk of the Quirk. Anyone who would attempt to see into the mind of one with this Quirk would also end up seeing the Demon.
  11.
  12. [C]In times of danger or emotional anguish, the demon will let its pure energy release in order to protect its user (as the death of the user means the death of the spirit). This energy tends to take different physical forms, ranging from pure energy to sand depending on the spirit’s nature.
  13.
  14. [C]This mode, commonly referred to as Beast Mode, is very powerful, as it is essentially the user taking on a miniature form of the demon. However, it has major drawbacks, especially in younger users or users with less control. (See disadvantages section for detailed drawbacks.)
  15.
  16. [C]Beast Mode has several stages of activation, from partial coverage to full coverage. It takes a considerable amount of time for a Jinchūriki to reach full awakening. Seeing a Jinchūriki in any form of Beast Mode is terrifying in and of itself.
  17.
  18. [CU][Sand Demon: Ichibi / Shukaku]
  19.
  20. [C]The demon that ended up sealed inside Tanukipaw is one known as Ichibi (lit: One Tail). This demon is known for its affinity for sand, and grants the user it is sealed within the ability to manipulate sand. As a result, Tanukipaw is always carrying large containers of the substance.
  21.
  22. [C][Usage of the Sand]
  23.
  24. [C]The sand can be used as a defensive tool (by grouping it into a shield) or an offensive tool (either crushing enemies or firing individual sand particles at high speed), faring better with offense at long distance and defense at close range.
  25.
  26. [C]The defensive capabilities of the sand are largely controlled by Ichibi, and are very fast, but can be outsped at close range or caught off guard if Tanukipaw is attacking. The offensive capabilities are a little slower, and it takes a great deal of effort to completely crush an individual. Sand particle bullets are speedier yet require aim and precision, so also can be dodged.
  27.
  28. [C]Tanukipaw can use the sand like a method of transportation if needed, though it is difficult for him as he hasn’t come close to mastering his Quirk or his bond with Ichibi.
  29.
  30. [C]It is also possible to use the sand as an armour, coating the fur like a shell, but this is a last resort technique, and is both more demanding than the regular defensive technique and less effective.
  31.
  32. [C][The Demon Itself]
  33.
  34. [C]Ichibi manifests itself in the form of sand entirely, and as a result its energy takes the form of sand. It appears to its user and anyone who looks into their mind as a large tanuki, with sandy coloured fur and dark black etchings running down its back.
  35.
  36. [C]It’s a testy individual, with one of the worst personalities known among the Quirk’s wielders. It is proud, battle hungry, and short-tempered, and is seemingly impossible to reason with. While this means that it is more eager to share energy in fights, it also means that it frequently reminds any user of it that it resides within that it will take any chance possible to break the seal Quirk and release itself once more to rampage.
  37.
  38. [CU][Syncing With The Demon]
  39.
  40. [C]Syncing with the demon is effectively learning to trust each other. It is a natural part of the Quirk’s evolution. It is no physical change, moreso a mental change, and requires the user to make the demon trust in their abilities, to calm their bloodlust, and to befriend them.
  41.
  42. [C]It is, in short, taming a literal demon. And it is very, very hard. Ichibi is possibly the hardest demon to sync with because of its indignation. Tanukipaw is far from synched with Ichibi, but aspires to do so before graduation.
  43.
  44. [C]Once synched, many downsides are withdrawn, as the demon no longer fights against its user. Drawbacks become general energy exhaustion and emotional instability (as pre-Synched Beast Mode can still occur under immense stress). Once synched, Partial Beast Mode is able to be used properly in a state of control, the demon cloaking the user in their energy to boost their defense and power. Full Beast Mode can also be achieved in fully synched pairs. This is immensely draining, but the perks of manifesting as your demon are high.
  45.
  46. [CI]It should be kept in mind that this is immensely difficult to achieve.
  47. [C]Reasoning with a beast is hard work, and a Jinchūriki must be strong in order to convince the beast to trust them. As a result, physical training is absolutely necessary for synching.
  48.
  49. [CU][Drawbacks and Weaknesses]
  50.
  51. [C]While the synchronisation with a demon allows for immense power, it is very easy to lose control of. Most Jinchūriki never gain full control of their demons. Keeping a demon sealed within you is a case of constant balance and focus. If too much energy is released, or the seal is weakened considerably from the mental stress, the demon will be released and the user will, without fail, die.
  52.
  53. [C]Beast Mode is, in users that have not bonded with their demons, a full loss of control. It may be possible to stay conscious for the first partial stage of transformation, but if it is allowed to progress further, the demon’s will will take hold and control becomes impossible - effectively, the user goes feral. If this progresses further, it will break the seal and the Jinchūriki will die. As a result, going into Full Beast Mode without having synched with your demon is too dangerous.
  54.
  55. [C]A young Jinchūriki suffers from insomnia due to their demon’s desire to break free. Sleep means loss of control, so it is necessary to limit sleep. A Jinchūriki’s emotions can also be tied to loss of control. Fear, anger, hatred, and pain must be limited by the user. They will constantly suffer with this balancing game.
  56.
  57. [C]Ichibi in particular is a source of mental pain. It is testy, and tends to hate every user it is sealed in. It torments its user and threatens it frequently. Keeping it in a state of slumber is the only way to quieten this mental assault. As a result, Jinchūriki tend to suffer from self-hatred, believing they too are demons.
