  3. This is where you should start if you are interested in joining the development team. Prospective Developers:

  5. Work on bug fixes and new packages
  6. Gain experience with Debian-format packaging
  7. Request sponsor review of suggested changes, where sponsors:
  8. review the packages prepared by the prospective developer
  9. provide constructive feedback
  10. upload the package when they are satisfied with its quality
  11. are collectively responsible for the maintenance of most of the packages in Ubuntu
  12. merge new versions from Debian, work on bugfixes and new packages
  13. continue with sponsored uploads
  14. provide sponsored security updates for community supported packages
  15. participate in technical discussions with other Ubuntu developers, providing ideas and feedback

  21. There are no requirements to be a Prospective Developer, and anyone with interest is encouraged to become involved. Please see the links at the top of this page for pointers some of the many ways to start contributing to Ubuntu development.
