― BACKGROUND
  ▬ BIRTH – " lesson of the day: expect the unexpected. "
    it's a running joke in chorong's family that her parents had their entire lives planned out, with their dream jobs and their dream house and their dream family, up until she came along. they were going to work professionally in their dream occupations, live in an apartment with stone kitchen benches and minimalistic decor, and they were going to have three children, two girls and a boy. and three children they did have, starting with their son, jimin, and then their twin daughters, chaeyeon and jihyun. then came along chorong. chorong was born as the fourth and final child to han juyeon, and his wife, hyeseong, on a rainy afternoon in daejeon, south korea. and it's no secret that despite her parents thoroughly planning out their life together, chorong was the uncontrollable variable. chorong wasn't meant to be born, she was accidentally conceived, and her parents originally hadn't intended to have another child (they had three already, and the house was beginning to feel somewhat crowded). han chorong came into the world, somewhat peacefully for a baby, and would remain that way for the rest of her life, showered with the same affection as any of her three siblings.

  ▬ CHILDHOOD – " there's han's with their four children. i heard they had more children that they could afford. "
    the han family certainly weren't the richest people in south korea, that's for sure. one might compare them to the weasleys, in the sense that they have a lot of children, but don't exactly have a lot of money. both parents worked full time jobs, trying as best as they could to earn enough money to sustain for their children, which ended up with chorong and her siblings staying with the neighbours every afternoon after school until either of her parents finished work and could come and pick them up. their financial status certainly wasn't thought of highly, and chorong knows that there were plenty of people who would look on with disdain and gossip about them behind their backs. as soon as her brother was old enough to be left at home by himself, he took it upon himself to do his best to look after his younger sisters. as a sibling unit, the four were all very close, and they basically did everything together, including help raise each other. while chorong was the youngest, she was never as much help as the older ones could be, but she always tried her best, even if her siblings decided it was best that she stay out of the kitchen,  and that she should do her homework instead of getting involved with the washing.

  ▬ TEENS – " if there is one thing you should learn from me, it's that you should never attempt anything i've ever done. "
    it's quite clear to see that out of her three siblings, chorong was always closest with her older brother. seeing as he was the oldest, and the only boy, he felt the need to protect his younger sisters, and with chorong being the youngest, she held a special place in his heart that the twins never failed to tease him for. given that her parents worked long hours, they never really had the time to raise chorong properly (not that she blames them for it, she's eternally thankful for everything they've done to help their family). because of this, majority of chorong's mannerism and her outlook on life are a mixture of things from her older siblings. she's known to be one of the wiser ones in her friend group, and honestly, the only reason that she is wise is because after all the reckless stunts she's seen her older siblings pull. chorong is probably the only one with sense in that family, and instead of learning from their example, she's been given a prime example of what not to do. all three of her older siblings are pretty insistent that she shouldn't attempt half of the reckless shit that they do (like trying to jump down a flight of stairs, or getting completely drunk to the point of getting on a train to busan, or getting involved with someone who might possibly be a drug dealer). however, it's from her siblings that she's learned to be independent, especially now that they're all in university, and chorong is home alone a lot now. due to the family being tight for money, all three of her siblings attend university on scholarships (her brother has a full scholarship to a sporting school, which her sister's have scholarships to an arts university), and chorong intends to earn herself a scholarship. the only probably is, unlike her siblings, a medical scholarship is extremely difficult to obtain, and she needs to work as hard as she can to earn it.


― PERSONALITY
  ▬ INTELLIGENT, WISE – " that's right, i'm smarter than i look. "
    han chorong is nothing short of a genius, as she has the scores and grades to prove it. chorong is a straight a student, and she's never gotten anything lower than a b in her entire life. failing just isn't a word in her vocabulary, especially not when she has an iq that's higher than most other people her age. at a glance, chorong just looks like a tiny little thing with average smarts, so not many people realise that she's actually the reigning undefeated first rank in all of her classes, miles ahead of anyone else. the others like to joke about how smart she is, but even they don't quite understand the extent to her intelligence. instead, she's the one they always run to whenever they need help, because despite being extremely smart, chorong has a talent for dumbing things down when she needs to explain them to other people. even though she's still very young, she is also very wise. chorong is a problem solver by nature (it's one of the reasons why she's always been good at maths). she's always been good at giving people advise, and helping them out with their problems (which could be because she has three older siblings, and she's seen some of the stupid things they do. at this point, chorong thinks nothing will surprise her anymore). chorong is a good person to talk to when something is bothering you, because she's always able to help you paint a bigger picture, and help you decide the best course of action. she's the type of person to always think things through, so that she won't have to face consequences later. she's a very organised person who likes to plan things to the smallest detail, so that she has every possible outcome accounted for.

  ▬ CREATIVE, HARD WORKING – " hard work always pays off. "
    chorong is a very creative person. she's always had a bit of a talent when it comes to arts, like painting and drawing, probably because it seems to run in the family. her grandfather was a painter, and while it seemed to skip a generation in chorong's father, all four of his grandchildren seemed to inherit his artistic nature. to chorong, it's always been more of a side hobby, and she doesn't really want to pursue a career in it, unlike her older sisters, who want to become an author and a painter respectively. chorong just prefers to sketch in her free time or when she's bored, and was extremely adamant on the fact that she didn't want to go to an art school when her parents suggested enrolling her in one. chorong wants to make it into medical school when she graduates. ever since she was little, all she's wanted is to be a doctor and help other people. she knows that there is no way that her parents are going to be able to afford to put her through a good medical school, not with the way that they're very tight on money. all three of her older siblings got scholarships to university (though, neither of them when for difficult degrees like chorong intends to), and chorong knows the only way she's going to get into university is with a scholarship. it's why she's so hardworking, because she knows that her grades are extremely important, and she needs to do whatever she can to make herself standout from the other applicants. that's why she's almost constantly studying, to maintaining her perfect gpa. she's so close to graduating, she can't afford to let it slip now. it's also one of the reason she agreed to sign up for the service hours, because she hopes it will set her apart from all the other people trying to get into medical school. with her hardworking nature though comes her competitiveness. while she tends to remain quiet about it, chorong is extremely competitive, and always strives after what she wants, doing whatever it takes to get it. the words "loser" and "failure" leave a bitter taste in her mouth, and chorong will be damned if she ever lets someone try and hold either of those titles over her head.

  ▬ INDEPENDENT, PERFECTIONIST – " i work best alone. "
    she's also a very independent person, in the sense that she never has to rely on anyone. she prides herself on being independent, something that has developed over the years in which she was brought up. as her family have always been pretty tight for money, her parents both worked whatever jobs they could, and as soon as chorong and her older siblings were old enough, they starting working, too. she knows how to take care of herself without constant supervision, and if she were to move out of her parents house right now, she'd be fully capable of living by herself. she's also independent in the sense that she likes to work by herself. group projects are always the bane of her existence, because it means that she has to work with a bunch of people who could potentially bring her grade down, and no way is she going to risk that. group projects usually end with chorong doing all of the work to make sure it is up to her personal standards, and the other people getting credit for it. honestly, chorong prefers working alone, because at least the first step can be bypassed, and she can do the project her way. she's a perfectionist, and everything has to be done the way she wants, held up to her own impossibly high standard. chorong will not settle for anything less than perfect, which can make her difficult to deal with. it's also sort of the reason why people tend to hate working in group projects with her, because sure, she might end up doing most of the work and you'll probably get a good grade, but she's difficult to deal with, especially if you can't meet her standards. honestly, it's probably just best to leave chorong to her own devices and let her work alone.

  ▬ CAUTIOUS, BLANK – " what reaction were you expecting? "
    chorong is also known to be a bit of a cautious person. and by that, i mean that she's not reckless or impulsive. chorong knows plenty of reckless and impulsive people (her older siblings for a start), and she's seen the things that people get up to, and quite frankly, she'd rather not get involved. she doesn't like getting in trouble at all. she's very rarely yelled at by teaches or reprimanded for anything (and when she is, she immediately clams up and stares at her desk, a bright blush on her cheeks), and she'd prefer to avoid conflict at all costs. she's not exactly a confrontational person, and if she knows that someone has a problem with her, she's more likely to ignore it and avoid them rather than try and talk it out with them. she's also known for her blank expressions, because she happens to have a very blank resting face which borderlines a resting bitch face. she's not exactly easily amused (probably because she doesn't actually get a lot of sexual jokes, because she's actually a very innocent smol bean), and is frequently seen giving people blank stares. she's also not exactly the reactive type, so while other people might jeer or coo or whoop, the most you'll get out of chorong is nod of acknowledgement. if she does have a reaction, it's usually straight to the point, which makes her somewhat easy to read. she wears her emotions on her sleeve, despite her blank expressions, something that she doesn't understand at all, and it annoys her to know end that people can read her like a book no matter what she does. she's a very direct person, and doesn't usually like to beat around the bush or waffle on about things that don't matter. she thinks it's a waste of time, and she's not very patient. it annoys her when people don't return the favour. she can't stand people who try and string things out (like announcers on tv shows who take forever to announce the winner), and thinks everything would be much better if people could just get straight to the point. she doesn't see the need of any of the excess information, especially if it's not important because she's got better things to do that wait around for an hour while you string out some sort of explanation that shouldn't take more than five minutes, tops.

  ▬ QUIET, DENSE, CARING – " be careful. "
    chorong is the quiet type of caring person. she's not exactly shy or anything, she just isn't exactly the most talkative person you'll ever meet. teamed with her straight to the point nature, she only really speaks whenever she has something to input. she's definitely far more introverted than extraverted, and being around loud people all the time wears her out (it's probably why she's closest to SEE SAW out of all the girls, because they're both on the quieter side). she's also a very caring person, and always likes to make sure those around her are okay, even if she does it in a more subtle and quiet manner. instead of outright questioning whether others are okay, she's the type to offer extra food to her friends, or sneak hot packs into their bags when they're not looking. she's not as much of a mom as ONE AND ONLY, but she does come as a close second, because chorong is probably the second oldest in the group. however, despite being known for having an extremely high iq and consistently topping all of her classes, it is amazing how dense chorong can be. she just doesn't get hidden messages or subtle hints. you have to be completely honest with her, don't expect her to read your mind and magically be able to put together all of your bizarre behaviour. you'll be waiting around for a lifetime if you do. chorong is just a smol bean with a bit of a contradicting personality.

					【 DUNKSHOT 】

― HOW DID YOU AND YOUR LI MEET?
  ▬ it was the one day of the entire school year that chorong was late to school. normally, she's the most punctual person on the planet, and always arrives at her desired destination at least half an hour in advance. except her alarm clock didn't go off in the morning like it was supposed to, then her father was called in for an early shift at work, and her school happened to be out of the way to her brother's university and he had a lecture to attend, leaving chorong with no other option but to take the bus, only for her to realise she couldn't find her bus card, and then by the time she was ready anyway (getting dressed in record timing), she'd missed the bus anyway, and waiting for the next one would only make her even more late. so when she finally arrives to her chemistry class, twenty minutes late, on the day that everyone is choosing their lab partners for the rest of the year, low and behold, he's the only one left. all of chorong's friends had already paired up (partly because she hadn't been there at the time, and partly because she can be difficult to work with), and all the other boys had already found themselves a partner, leaving jeno without one. her friends are quick to send her apologetic glances, feeling sympathy for her, because they know how much she cares about her grades. given chorong's perfect record, the professor had let her off the hook easily, with a warning not to let it happen again, before quickly announcing that she was to be paired up with lee jeno, the only remaining person without a lab partner. while chorong had never formally been introduced to jeno, she'd heard of his reputation, and quite frankly, she didn't exactly want to become close with him. and she was fully aware of the people that he would hang around with (several of which were all in the class and smirking in the direction of jeno). having no choice but to go along with it, chorong felt her shoulders slump as she moved towards her new lab partner. she took one look at the boy and roughly dumped her textbooks on the desk beside him, barely paying him any attention, too focused on the thought of her grades dropping because she was paired with a delinquent who clearly didn't care whether or not he failed chemistry.


― FIRST IMPRESSIONS
  ▬ HER – she wasn't pleased, to say the least. she had every intention to maintain her perfect gpa, no way was she going to let him ruin that by bringing her grades down.
		" GREAT, I'VE GOT A DELINQUENT FOR A LAB PARTNER. "

  ▬ HIM – a bit of background knowledge on jeno – he's had a crush on han chorong since the third grade, even though she barely spares him a glance. so while he's secretly jumping for joy at the thought of being lab partners, he's also kind of concerned given that she doesn't really seem to return the sentiment.

― TIMELINE OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP
  ▬ ONE SIDED ATTRACTION > "SUBTLE" FLIRTING > FLUSTERED COUPLE GOALS

  ▬ beg: so, as mentioned before, jeno's had a pretty embarrassing crush on chorong for years, even though he's never really spoken to her, and all of the dreamies know it. he's always admired her from afar, from the way that she holds herself, to the way that she's so hardworking to get her grades, and isn't just naturally smart and cruising through school yet still getting top marks. so naturally, he's pleased that they've been paired up as lab partners. chorong doesn't share this opinion. she's nothing short of annoyed, and she makes it very clear that he will not slack off, because she NEEDS to maintain her grades. she thinks that it'll be fine, only seeing him a few hours a week in chemistry class, until he turns up to do extra service hours as a punishment for his behaviour. chorong's only there so she can put it on her future college application, and to support the rest of her friends, who decided to sign up too, and she's not exactly pleased when they've got the same hours, and she has to spend even more time in her company. especially not when he seems to think they're friends or something, and keeps trying to talk to her. meanwhile, jeno is thrilled, and he figures that this is his chance to try and become friends with her, so he tries his best to be friendly even though chorong only really gives him short answers. he doesn't let it discourage him, however, because he's liked her since the third grade, and he figures that the world is finally throwing him a chance at a relationship with her, so no way is he going to let this opportunity slip through his fingers.

  ▬ middle: here comes the "subtle" flirting. jeno thinks it's about time he stepped up his game (which might potentioally be because he saw bae jinyoung making heart eyes at her a week ago), so here comes his attempts at flirting, which never fail to send jaemin and donghyuck into a fit of hysterics. truth be told, jeno is actually pretty smooth. he knows this. his friends know this. every girl that's ever had a crush on him knows this. so all of her attempts at flirting are actually pretty smooth, and not as cheesy as one might expect (hyuck is mildly disappointed, but jeno says he'll leave the cheesiness to jaemin instead). the only problem is that chorong is almost complete oblivious to it. most of it goes straight over her head, and while she'll actually talk to him now, and they're somewhat friends (and upgrade from what they were before! jeno happily claims), she's just really dense when it comes to his feelings for her. now, the rest of her friends are fully aware that jeno has a crush on her – you'd have to be dense not to see the way he looks at her as if she hung the stars in the sky. and apparently, chorong is that dense, and jeno's not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing. he will admit that her obliviousness is adorably, but, call him biased, everything that she does is cute (if he ever said it out loud, the other boys would never let him hear the end of it. however, on chorong's end, she's extremely confused, because wow, has jeno always been this good looking? she's mildly terrified at how quickly her opinions of him have changed, because she no longer resents his company, and actually kind of enjoys being around him. however, chorong has absolutely no experience when it comes to romance of any sort, because she's never had a boyfriend, after meeting some of them men her sisters have brought home, she's kind of wary. but she can't deny that his eye smile makes her insides go all squishy, even if it scares her to think that she might have a bit of a crush on him.

  ▬ end: it takes a really really really long time for them to move past the flirting stage of their relationship. and by flirting, i mean jeno trying (see: failing) to flirt. but again, chorong just isn't good at reading subtle hints (and sometimes not even reading really obvious hints). it takes every single one of the dreamies, and all of chorong's friends to convince him to grow a pair and just straight up tell her how he feels. and despite his outwardly cool appearance (because he's a delinquent and everything, not some cute boy, despite his eye smile saying otherwise), he's actually sweating buckets at the thought. because just like everyone else, he's self conscious over being rejected, because chorong made it pretty clear that she did not like him when they first met, and even if they've come a long way since then, he's still not sure about her feelings.however, he figures that he's been crushing on her for long enough, and if she doesn't return his feelings, then it's about time he moved onto someone else, and stop pining over her. however, chorong, despite being very oblivious notices that there's something off with jeno, even if she doesn't mention it out loud. instead she sticks to her quiet caring nature, like squeezing his hand whenever he looks upset, and lending him pencils without him even needing to ask, because she knows he always forgets to bring one. so after hours and hours of agonising over how to tell her, he eventually uses his actions instead of his words and kisses her. it's after one of the service hour session is done, and it's late, and they've been working in mostly silence for a while, but now it's finished and they're both prepared to leave. chorong thinks she looks a mess, as he hair is falling out of her ponytail, there's a stain down the front of her shirt from lunch, and her glasses are crooked on her nose. jeno reaches over to tuck her hair behind her ear and then he just leans in and kisses her, before admitting that he has a pretty big crush on her. chorong can't stop smiling, before she reaches up to kiss him again. the next day when they get to school, he's waiting by the gates for her, and much to the surprise of just about everyone on campus, jeno reaches out to lace their fingers together.


― ANY SCENES
  ▬ study sessions with jeno that always end up with her stressing out over her grades, so he forcefully drags her out of the library to buy her ice cream

  ▬ chorong almost blowing up a science experiment by accident during their chemistry class. it was a total accident and she didn't mean to, but jeno had just suddenly turned to look at her and he was giving her one of his (cute) eye smiles and chorong was momentarily caught off guard and in went the wrong chemical, which was embarrassing, to say the least, given that chorong was the top of chemistry class, and never made stupid mistakes like this.

 ▬ i personally see her being really close with NEW or SEE SAW and i think they'd make good friends who live down the road from each other and always walk home from school together or something.

 ▬ little madarin conversations with renjun and chenle! because chorong only knows the bare minimum and wants to learn to speak the language better, even though it's sometimes difficult for her to keep up with the two of them (it porbably also makes jeno jealous)

 ▬ people patting chorong's head. she gets it, she's short. but she'd really appreciate it if people could stop reminding her every seconds by patting her head like she's a puppy of something

 ▬ jeno comes over for a chemistry project or something, and all of chorong's siblings just keep staring him down, and don't even bother to be discrete about it (chorong is there little baby, and they can see his crush on her a mile off, even if she doesn't notice it).
