  1. What is up guys? It is the Redstooooonee Scientist here with a very exciting update/contest for you all.
  2. So if you've been keeping up with all of my social media stuff you'll know that Jragon014 and I are heavily immersed in our work on a brand new adventure map / map experience. The working title right now is "Wesley." If you don't know who Jragon014 is you are seriously missing out because he has got one of the most fascinating and unique command block channels out there and I highly suggest you check him out.
  3. Anyway, "Wesley" is not just a game/experience it's also a bit of an experiment in more ways than one. One of these ways is an experiment to see how far we can push the boundaries of Minecraft to tell an effective, emotional, relatable, and engaging story unlike anything we've seen in Minecraft before.
  4. A lot of work on the map is extremely hidden under wraps but every once and while Jragon or myself release a bit of info about it.
  5. But enough about the map itself, let's get on to the contest!
  6. (cut)
  7. So this is the first of what will most likely be MANY contests to contribute to the development of "Wesley."
  8. We need YOUR help to create some amazing builds for this game. And we thought that there would be no better place to find builders than our viewers and the Minecraft community in general. So let's get onto the specifics of what we need your help to build, this time around:
  9. So we need 3 structures, ok? Now before I tell you what they are, keep in mind that the scenes that they will be put in are set in 1964. Once again, that's the year 1964. There are no alternate timelines here, it takes place in 1964 in an ambiguous location in the United States of America. So before working on any of these builds, make sure you do your research, because we're really going for realism here.
  10. After I list the things we need I'll give you some more context on them. So without further ado,
  11. We need the following 3 structures:
  12. 1. We need a farm. All we need is the actual buildings themselves. Such a barn, a silo, a house; it can be multiple structures but they all need to be part of the farm. We will most likely be rearranging the different buildings you give us so don't worry too much about how they connect to each other, unless that's part of your concept. In addition, we don't need ANY interiors. Exteriors ONLY. Also, we've got the fields of crops covered so you don't need to worry about building that.
  13.
  14. 2. A house. Again, no need to worry about interiors, just worry about Exterior. Once again, as with all the structures, this is set in 1964.
  15.
  16. 3. Wesley's home. Again, exterior only. Here are some quotes from the script describing this build: "Not too large but not too small. Very cozy. Not overly expensive but not a shack either." That description can also apply to structure # 2.
  17.
  18. For all of these structures, in terms of scale, they should pretty much make sense compared to the size of a Minecraft player. So when you aren't sneaking, a Minecraft player is 1.85 blocks tall, so just pretend that's the size of an adult male.
  19. Now in order to participate you don't HAVE to submit something for every single structure. You can send us as many or as few as you want. If you like, you can send us 20 variations of the same thing, as long as you adhere to the guidelines, we're happy.
  20.
  21. Now before I give you any more context for the builds I know you guys are thinking:
  22. "But TRS, you mentioned this is a contest, right? So what's the prize?" Well... while the "Wesley" project DOES have a budget, we'd prefer to do things as cost-free as possible at the moment. So, for right now, your reward is you get to be in the map, you get your name in the credits, you get your links to your channel or twitter or whatever you want advertised there as well. But again, more importantly, you'll be a part of the ever-expanding "Wesley team" and you'll have made a significant impact on what will surely be a map that will go down in Minecraft history.
  23. I also feel I should mention that we can't GUARANTEE that we'll be using any of the submissions in the map. It really depends on the number of responses we get and the quality of the builds. If we can't find enough builds that will go nicely with the map, then Jragon and I will have another meeting and reevaluate our options. But this is certainly not going to be the last opportunity for you to submit builds to the "Wesley" project.
  24.
  25. So if you are still interested in participating,
  26. Here's a little more context for you:
  27. This scene involves a car driving down an open empty and seemingly endless road. Not a lot of civilization, passing just miles of wheat fields and roaming cattle; the people who own this farm own quite a lot of land. But eventually the wheat starts to thin out and starts to turn into grass the farther along the road the car goes, eventually they come upon a house (structure #2), and after they pass that house, they arrive at "Wesley's House" (structure #3). So these homes are quite isolated. They are not part of a big community. You can sort of think of it like some places in California where there is just nothing but corn for miles and a few houses scattered around here and there. Hopefully that'll give you some good information to work with when you're doing your research.
  28.
  29. Again, send us as many or as few of these builds as you like. Feel free to ask for clarification or any other questions you need answered in the comments section below. Anything that will help you clarify your vision without forcing us to give too many spoilers. I realize that these are rather open-ended prompts.
  30.
  31. Please send all submissions by email to [email protected]. Once again, that's [email protected].
  32. As for a deadline, for right now I'm gonna say May 2nd at 12am, so that's the midnight on May 1st Eastern Standard Time, which is 4am on May2nd in UTC or GMT. You can find a time zone converter in the description. However, until we specify that we've come to a decision about what builds we're using, you can technically still submit stuff after May 2nd, I just can't guarantee that it'll really have a fair chance because we may have already chosen something.
  33.
  34. Both Jragon and I will be looking at all the submissions personally and we are really looking forward to seeing what you guys can come up with.
  35. This is a HUGE project we're working on and the decision to involve the community we feel will really make this map even more special. It'll be something we can ALL be proud of.
  36.
  37. So again, if you have any questions or you need any clarification, just leave a comment on this video, tweet to me @ProfessorTRS, or just send me an email at [email protected].
  38. Both Jragon and I are really excited about this contest and can't wait to see your builds!
  39. Thanks so much for watching, and I'll catch ya next time!
