  1. >Lina sat on a bench near the playground, school had just let out and she was waiting, bored
  2. >She fidgeted with her feet, frowning to herself as she looked down; she'd decided to leave her board at home and she felt a little lost without it nearby
  3. >Her mother didn't want her using it with her arm in a cast, of course; but Lemy's wipeout had scared her, and she didn't want to risk a repeat
  4. >Leaning back on the bench until her back popped, she stared straight up
  5. >Lemy popped back up like nothing happened, he was fine, he was tough
  6. >But Lina couldn't think of a time she'd been more afraid, aside from the last time Lemy got beat up
  7. >Her thoughts kept lingering on that day, and of Lemy's hair brushing her knee; it was soft and fluffy
  8. >Lina was blushing now, tho her face stayed neutral. She kept replaying the moment in her head, she wished she could just reach out and run her fingers though his hair
  9. >"I bet Lemy has sex hair" she mumbled to herself
  10. >"What about my hair?" Lina whipped her head down and spotted the boy in front of her, head tilted with a smile
  11. >She scanned his face as her heart sped up, he didn't have a teasing look, or one of disgust, he didn't hear her clearly
  12. >Letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding she thought for a second "I said I bet Lemy checks his hair, ya know, just in case you busted yourself open on that fall"
  13. >Smooth, girl
  14. >Lemy rubbed the back of his head "I mean, there was a small lump, but no blood. It's all good" he smiled and sat down next to her "So, waiting for me?"
  15. >Lina almost blurted out yes "You and Eddy Gordo...where is he anyways?" Lina noticed for the first time that he was alone
  16. >The boy laughed "He does look like Eddy doesn't he? Good thing he doesn't play that button mashing cunt" Lemy turned to face her "Basketball practice starts back up today, he said not to wait up"
  17.
  18. >Lina whooped inwardly, she liked Gordon, he was a chill dude; but she rarely got some one on one time with Lemy, this was a chance "So what do you wanna do?"
  19. >Lemy rubbed is chin "Maybe just chill, listen to music and shoot the shit, ya know?"
  20. >The girl smiled and hopped off the bench "Sounds like a plan, where we chilling?"
  21. >Lemy stood up "I dunno, the mall, arcade, park near Flip's, the scrapyard. Lotsa options"
  22. >Opportunity was knocking, she wasn't going to let it pass "Lets go to the scrapyard" she grinned
  23. >The scrapyard, they had a base of sorts set up in an old broken down short bus
  24. >They found it a year ago, and had been making little quality of life changes ever since
  25. >At the present, it was very comfy; with an loveseat, some beanbag chairs and even a hammock set up
  26. >Lemy worked here on occasion and he knew the owner well, the old guy even let them run some extension cords to have a supply of power
  27. >The boy opened the rear door and hopped up; Lina held her hand up to him expecting him to help her up
  28. >He frowned down at her busted wing "Use the front, I'll go open it" and he closed the door on her
  29. >A moment later, Lemy let out a grunt as he manually opened the folding doors, allowing Lina access as she walked up the steps and was hit by the musky smell of old leather seats
  30. >She held a hand over her mouth and nose "Whoa, open some windows, it smells like sex in here" Lina blushed as the words left her mouth, and she was glad it was partially obscured
  31. >"Yeah I got it" the boy darted around, opening whichever windows weren't stuck with rust and gunk; he also turned on a small fan to get the air flowing in the hot bus "Better?" he smiled
  32.
  33. >"Much" Lina walked over to the loveseat and laid back, propping her feet up. She almost patted next to her before Lemy suddenly plopped down on a beanbag chair nearby
  34. >A song that she was very familiar with began to drift softly through the bus and Lina smiled, relaxing and closing her eyes "I love this song"
  35. >Lemy glanced at her "You can play this one right?"
  36. >Lina's eyes opened and she frowned "I mean, I could. Can't really do much playing like this though, it sucks." she held up her cast "I'm gonna be so rusty when this comes off"
  37. >"Nah, you might need to rebuild your callouses, but you'll pick it right back like nothing happened; you've always been great" Lemy smiled
  38. >Lina pushed her lips together, she thought about how "Always Great" she was. Lina had always made things seem effortless; riding her skateboard, playing her guitar, video games, she was cool, that was the image she built up
  39. >Lemy never saw the side of her that just gave up when something required some actual effort; she tried learning a trick on her skateboard and gave up when it seemed too hard, she never bother with games she wasn't good at
  40. >Playing the guitar was the only thing she put any real effort into, and that was because it was a passion she shared with her mother, to be honest Lina felt like she was a bit of a poser
  41. >Her mood had darkened and the girl was feeling a little bitter "You only think that because you like my guitar playing" she really hoped what they had together wasn't as shallow as she felt
  42. >"Well of course I like how you play the guitar, I like you" Lemy was grinning at her and Lina felt her chest tighten and cheeks flush as her mood was immediately lifted to the heavens by his simple words
  43. >Despite her best efforts Lina broke out into a goofy grin that she tried to hide by looking away "T-thanks man, that means a lot"
  44. >She knew he only meant that as a friend, but just hearing the words gave her hope
  45. >"I like you too Lem"
  46. >She meant it, more than anything
