  1. Started watch under 11-S-10 and took over as shift supervisor. I informed Brown of the importance of conducting a 10-21 when you take over as shift supervisor to get a good idea of what units you have and what they are doing. Brown called in the 10-21 over the radio and checked to be sure all units had responded. There were two units to hadn't responded so he called over the radio for them at which point they both responded.

  3. We went inside and found all the cadets at the desk partners before going 10-8 from Misson Row.
  4.
  5. As we went to leave Misson Row we ran into a man who needed to speak to a supervisor. We brought the man into the briefing room and listened to his story. We made the decision to direct the man to make an IA report. While we we're finishing up with the man a cadet came over the radio and asked to go on Lincoln. Brown gave him permission to go.

  7. A call came in about needing assistance at the impound. Brown called for a 10-8 unit to respond to the impound lot but no one came over the radio. We saw a lot of units were 10-9 in TAC so we joined and Brown cleared some units so that there were only 5 in the pursuit. We waited a bit after they cleared and no one updated their 10-21's so Brown went over the radio and informed them to update their 10-21's after leaving a TAC. They did so, and he asked one of the units to respond to the impound. They did and we continued along with out patrol.

  9. We joined a TAC about a few men evading. We managed to detain both of the suspects. I taught him about the delegation of units on scene and scene management. I also told him about clearing units when they were no longer needed so that we still have units responding to calls even when we are tied up in a scene. Our scene spilt into two different areas and I taught brown about making sure he keeps checking up on the other scene. Both of the suspects were in cuffs and Brown cleared the TAC. He delegated a unit beforehand to set up scene management on scene. He then asked a unit to take the suspect. He then began clearing units and getting the scene cleaned up.

  11. We continued 10-8 at which point I began going over the importance of general activity and awareness there was a code 1 called. We responded and as soon as we arrived Brown informed the units to get immediate medical attention to the officers that were down and then the suspects. He also asked that units get scene management. I did notice that Brown was a bit timid taking control of this scene considering there were several supervisors in the TAC. When things calmed down a bit he kind of re took over clearing units and making sure the scene was concluding. I informed in that he need't be afraid to speak up when he takes over as shift supervisor.
  12.
  13. There was a hostage situation call and Brown directed some units as well as swat to respond. We went back 10-8 and I continued to talk about how if there are no calls or situations that are in need of a supervisor, it is important to respond to scenes/10-55's and supervisor over the units.
  14.
  15. We then talked about TAC management. He had done a fairly good job of leading the TAC's so far on our patrol so I just quizzed him giving him examples of situations and asking what he should do and he answered them all fairly well. Knowing when to clear units and when units are needed.
  16.
  17. Afterwards we talked about demeanor and how we as supervisors have to be approachable. I retouched up on dealing with civilians/complaints.
  18.
  19. Finally we spoke about Disciplinary actions. He seemed to really take in and understand everything I said. We decided to check up on the hostage situation as it seemed to be taking up every officer we have. As we had no 10-8 units responding to calls. When we arrived on scene there were several cars parked out front of DOC. So we stayed to assist. The 10-15's all escaped with people who parked out front waiting for them but the hostage was safe.
  20.
  21. We went 10-9 to Misson Row to end shift. He informed the Lincoln unit he allowed to go out that he was ending watch and that he would need to get permission from someone else to continue Lincoln.
