Q: How did you settle on the name “grayfruit?”
A: It wasn’t any one thing that influenced me, I just thought it was a good, vivid name that sounded nice and could have a logo to go along with it. I used to really like nice, simple names like “rubberfruit” or “woodentoaster” or “vinesauce”; I guess I ended up going for a similar naming scheme. In the end, it was mostly just that I really like fruit and I like the color gray, more than anything else. I guess I also attribute my liking of fictional fruit to Neopets and that one Akiko book with the zoo, if anyone remembers that.

Q: What does a gray fruit taste like? (yes, this is a shockingly frequently asked question)
A: I imagine it’s maybe the texture and density of a tomato while tasting sweet like one of those watermelons that’s yellow on the inside. Lots of seeds but you can eat them so it’s fine.

Q: Will you play/“Speedrun” (insert game here)? Have you played (insert game here) before?
A: Regardless of what game it is, go to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1era6ph4Hceq2lU2JE8C1asfYbEKSgWyCUVmie2KtngA/edit?usp=sharing and do a CTRL+F to see if it’s there. That’s a full list on a Google Doc detailing the particulars of every game I’ve streamed/want to stream so far, as well as a convenient link to the VOD or VOD playlist for that game. If you’re looking for a Flash game, go to the sub-list that’s linked at the top of the main one. If your game isn’t on that list, I probably don’t have any plans to play it anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean it’s completely out of the running forever- just be prepared for the possibility that it IS completely out of the running forever.

In regards to “speedrun”s specifically, I have a particular way of selecting what streams I actually label as such. In the past I called the LIMBO and AntiPodal streams “speedrun”s, and while they weren’t awful streams, they didn’t really have anything that could even be jokingly referred to as relating to a speedrun, so I didn’t end up editing them into videos and you’ll notice I do many games in single sittings but don’t call those “speedruns”: that’s the reason why.

Q: Do you read Twitch chat?
A: I do, but I don’t always see everything (especially when it’s going by fast) and I don’t always have a response for the sort of things that are said there: don’t be offended if I don’t directly acknowledge you.

Q: What is your favorite game?
A: It’s really hard to narrow it down so I usually say Portal or Portal 2; really, there’s several heaping handfuls of games that I really adore and would love to give that title as well, like Katamari Damacy, Hotline Miami, Pikmin, Dark Souls, Cuphead, Antichamber, and Undertale. I know a lot of these games are so popular or have such extreme cult fanbases that they don’t appeal to some people but I am capable of ignoring the fans in favor of enjoying some truly great games. Smash and Isaac I also enjoy, but both less and less these days, so I don’t know if either would make it into my favorites at my current level of bias against them.

Q: What is your policy on fanmade stream highlights/edits/compilations?
A: I’m totally fine with any fan edits, go nuts! Just know that there is an off chance that I will someday do an official edit of whatever stream/streams you edit. Generally I don't like to do edits of streams/series that are too long or too old, with exceptions.

Q: What are the “lost”/”unlucky” streams you mention in the fruit salad About page?
A: To my knowledge, I’ve only failed to record or upload 2 streams, the Half-Life 2 “Speedrun” that was fucked up in about as many ways a stream could be, from being super long to having horrible out-of-sync audio to being in like 3 different video files- I just decided to bin the whole thing. I will probably do that game proper and maybe try to “speedrun” again some time. The other was a Smash UItimate Bastards stream where we did the Isabelle trophy glitch and other hijinx: I genuinely don’t know how this one was lost but I never found the VOD file for it and I definitely remember it happening.
