  1. The comic starts with a nighttime view of a barren field, with a few dead trees, and many, many graves dotting the landscape. A mass grave for a battlefield long ago. Two of cultists and a necromancer approach the place, looking down from a hill.
  2.
  3. [Note: The necromancer carries the censers the Blackguard will later take from him. Maybe the first panel could be the cultists looking down at the graveyard with them in the distance as three silhouettes on a hill, then have a panel showing the cultists walking through the graveyard, getting a better look at them.]
  4.
  5. The cultists stop at one of the graves and begin to dig as the necromancer practices his dark magic. The Blackguard, ancient, rusted and covered in dirt, crawls out of the ground, revived by their ritual. The cultists rejoice at their new servant.
  6.
  7. But something has gone wrong. The Blackguard is not bound to their will. Perhaps the spell was incomplete, or some other force intervened, or the Blackguard's will is too strong for them. [Note, not sure if it should be clear why the ritual didn't work or if it should be kept vague, let me know what you think.] The Blackguard kills the necromancer, crushing his skull with his mace. The cultists flee as the Blackguard takes the censers and absorbs the life force from the dead warlord, using its power against them, skeletons bursting out from their graves to claw at them as he casts dark magic of his own.
  8.
  9. After the slaughter, the comic ends with the Blackguard trudging off into the night, wandering aimlessly. In his wake are not only the skeletons of those buried in the graveyard, but also the slowly reviving corpses of the cultists, joining the dead they sought to control. [Note: Maybe work in the stress symbol here somewhere with the skeletons or the cultists.]
