This was all wrong, this couldn’t be how it was all supposed to play out was it? You look down at the flower-dominated floor at the tiny frail body that now stains the sunny yellow petals a deep red. You can’t breathe, you can’t think, all you can do is look down at the child’s body in mute horror as tears gather in your eyes.

‘Where did…human how did you get here’

The voice of a looming figure standing above the child finally pierces through the fog in your mind, pulling you back to reality as the horror within is replaced by the darkest rage from the deepest recess of your being. How dare this beast sound so confused, so timid and soft-spoken as he stood before the bleeding body of a tiny frail child, spots of blood on his armour no less and think to ask how you had come here.

Through your teeth, you hiss as him in a inhuman tone, the sparks and swell of power  coiling around your form as the beast steps back in fear. You lift a hand, a prismatic array of colours engulfing the child and lifting them into your arms protectively, tears dripping onto the slack face of the dead as you cradle their head against your chest. You can feel the power well up within you, turning the dim room into a bright white void as the world slowly becomes engulfed by the surge of magic reacting to your emotional state.

‘why did you kill my little brother’

You wake up in your bed, rubbing the sleep from your eyes as the bitter taste of last night makes you pull a face of distain. Looking up at the calendar above the clock however lifted your mood immediately, rousing enough energy to get your sorry rear out of bed and rush into the bathroom to get yourself ready for the day. Today was the date you’d be able to get custody of your younger sibling from your Parents, finally granted full guardianship of the child you have been barred from seeing for about 5 years give or take. It didn’t matter how long its been, all that mattered was that you can finally get them away from the terrible pit as soon as you were given the green light to get them.
