  1. >You are Anonymous X
  2. >And you are currently sitting on a rather comfy couch across from a super augmented unicorn pony named Lyra Heartstrings
  3. >You arrived at her apartment no too long ago, and upon seeing you, she fainted
  4. >You found it strange that she did
  5. >Was she surprised at your appearance? That didn't make much sense, considering how none of the ponies batted an eye at you before
  6. >You would ask her as soon as she woke up
  7. >You took the time to get used to her apartment, getting a feel for the place
  8. >It had an incredible sense of symettry, unsurprisingly
  9. >The main room was a large squaure, with something on each side
  10. >Next to the main door was a kitchen area and a storage closet, both of which were well stocked
  11. >The left and right sides of the square had doors leading to small private bedrooms, with also had their own, even smaller bathrooms
  12. >One of them was empty, save for a bed with some sheets and a dresser, and you assumed it was your room
  13. >You would have to spend the rest of your bits on furnishings and clothes, it seemed
  14. >Opposite of the entrance door was a large flatscreen TV, and the windows overlooking the street below
  15. >In the middle of it all was the living area, in which two couches were parallel to the bedroom sides of the room, and there was a rectangular table in between them
  16. >Everything in this room was a couple sizes too small for you, but you would manage
  17. >You were tempted to turn on the TV, but Lyra stirred from her reclining position, and opened her eyes
  18. >And once again, they seemed to turn into small dinner plates upon seeing you
  19.
  20. 'Hey. Sweet dreams?'
  21. >She bolted up right, running mechanical hands through her hair
  22. >'Ah. . .well. . .' She stammered, blushing a bit and fidgeting
  23. 'Something the matter?'
  24. >'No! No, it's just. . .I haven't had a room mate in so long, and I didn't think that I would get someone like you!'
  25. 'I thought that this area of Canterlot was meant for heavy augs.'
  26. >'It is, it's just. . .well, I've always wanted to have a human with me, and now one is delivered right to my door!'
  27. >She looks down, frowning a bit as she sees your hooves.
  28. >'You. . .are human, right?'
  29. 'I'm not sure anymore. I'm not a pony though, that's for sure.'
  30. >'What happened to your legs?' She asked, seeming to be on the verge of tears
  31. 'In the incident that brought me here, they got blown clean off. Without a reference to build me some new ones, they gave me these instead.'
  32. >You knocked on the metallic thigh for emphasis
  33. >'Oh, that's. . .I'm so sorry.' She said.
  34. 'My legs were my pride and joy. My lifeblood, back in my world. I was a courier of sorts, delivered packages to places hoverca- hoverchairots couldn't. Now I got these.'
  35. >You shrug
  36. 'I'm sure I'll manage just fine. Humans are very adaptable.'
  37. >'I can imagine. Most ponies don't really have the ability to get so heavily auged. I'm lucky to be alive right now, since unicorns don't really take the more invasive augs well.'
  38. 'So I was told. You must be pretty tough.'
  39. >'Heh. If you were living with my old roomie, you had to be.'
  40. 'Old roommate, huh? Who were they?'
  41. >She sighs, and looks out the window
  42.
  43. >Her old room mate was an earth pony named Bon-Bon, and Lyra could only describe her as 'sweet and sour'
  44. >She was incredibly nice one moment and filled with anger and hate the next
  45. >The two of them always got along really well, though, and were practically inseparable
  46. >She was one of the only ponies who would put up with Lyra's obsession about the mythical humans
  47. >She did admit that she had a bit of a fetish for human anatomy, and you didn't bat an eye
  48. >In the future of your world, anything and everything was a fetish
  49. >She went on to explain that when augmentation came out, she jumped on it without a second thought, wanting to finally get the hands she dreamed off
  50. >Needless to say, that was the straw that broke the ponies back
  51. >Bon Bon advised vehemently against getting those augs, saying that she would become a machine and that it would make no sense
  52. >She was already unicorn and was capable of acute manipulation, and it would mess up the way she would have to walk
  53. >The two argued endlessly, and Bon Bon offered an ultimatum: The hands, or her
  54. >It was quite obvious what she chose
  55.
  56. >With sorrow and doubt in her heart, she walked down the path of technology upon the winds of change
  57. >She offered her body for the sake of science, and got special treatment for her willingness and her creativity
  58. >She described the hands as best she could to the scientists ,drawing pictures and bone structures as best she could
  59. >The process of building the augs was a long one, but she was patient and persistent
  60. >The first prototypes were crude, clunky.
  61. >She humorously recalls models with three flabby looking fingers, and some with fifteen spindly needle like ones
  62. >Eventually, the perfect hands were developed, and she accepted them with glee
  63. >While the scientists voiced concern about her walking patterns, she told them there was no need to worry, as she showed her skill walking upright on her hind legs
  64. >She had always tried to act like a human, sitting and walking like them when she could
  65. >The scientists were amazed at this ability, and asked if they could download the data from her brain to help make some bipedalism augs
  66. >For science, of course
  67. >She allowed them too, and with it came unexpected benefits
  68.
  69. >She became something of a poster child for the bipedalism and hand based augs
  70. >They used her likeness in advertisements, asked her to appear on talk shows, and was asked to be one of the Lab Ponies, who would be at Celestias beck and call for experimental augs
  71. >Between the royalties from the new 'Manus' line and funding from CelestCorp when she underwent experiments, she could retire to a nice place in Canterlot and quit her job as musician
  72. >Sometimes she breaks out the old lyre or mandolin or other stringed instrument and plucks a few chords
  73. >Sometimes she looks out the window and wonders where Bon Bon is, and if she is still alive and well
  74. >She sighed, shaking her head and turning back to you.
  75. >'Well, that's my story. What about yours?'
  76. 'I got thrown across the theoretical multiverse and landed in your world. Celestia found me, fixed me up, and now I'm a walking security camera.'
  77.
  78.
  79. >She scrunched her face up in an adorable way
  80. >You didn't even know pony faces could do that
  81. >'I know that. I was talking about your life in your world.'
  82. 'I'll tell you that later. I'm a bit tired right now. Just got outta the hospital.'
  83. >She huffed a bit, seeming a bit upset. 'I just spilled my whole life story, and you blow me off like that?!'
  84. 'Not blowing you off. Just. . .need some sleep for now. I'll tell you what, though.'
  85. >You stand up, stretching a bit.
  86. 'I'll take you to lunch tomorrow, and we can do some shopping for clothes and maybe some stuff to brighten up my room. How does that sound?'
  87. >She seems to brighten up at bit at that prospect. 'Sure! That sounds great! I'll help pay for your clothes, too. But only if you promise to tell me aaaaalll the juicy details.'
  88. 'Yeah, sure.' You say, somewhat sarcastically.
  89. >You walk into your room, laying down on the bed and sighing, shutting off your optics for a moment
  90. >Lyra gets plenty of money from the royalties and whatnot, but you need to find your own place in the world
  91. >Easier said than done
  92. >Maybe you'll find some work while looking around the city tomorrow
  93. >Surely, some one could use your help
  94. >You eventually drift from thought to thought, and soon, you fall alseep
  95. >You are glad that darkness overtakes you on your own terms for once
