  1. Julius, no last name, was born to a somewhat affluent Jeweler's family, the Crête de Rose. Though he doesn't speak much of them now. Talented he may be, his sister Julianne (A rather pompous girl, quite arrogant, a daddy's girl. Later in life she'd grow rather cold, and cruel, but a genius with cutting a stone, and brilliant with its settings), was always a step ahead of him, even with being two years behind. This didn't set Julius back though. In fact, he was relieved to not have to take up the head of the family's business, preferring to learn fencing. During his youth and through towards adulthood, he'd practice swordfighting with wooden sticks with his friends in the back alleys. Play turned to real, as he'd get caught up in brawls and swordfights defending his friends or even just in duels for fun or competition. Rafael, his good friend had gotten into trouble often with the local riff-raff, forcing Julius to come to his aid. His father, Augustin, despised him for not being a proper 'male' heir. They'd often argue in confrontations, with Julius's mother, Evelynn being his only true attachment to their household. When he'd come home injured from, it was his mother who tended to his wounds.

  3. During the summer of Julius's 17th birthday, Julius's mother would fall gravely ill and die. Julius heartbroken stayed to tend to his aging father, who still hated him. His father's drunken fits were a near daily occurrence, but Julius stayed none the less.

  5. One evening, a strange stone had come into the shop. Now Julius was just an assistant, mainly sweeping the store and handling small tasks. It was a cloudy opal with a strange symbol inside. Fascinated about it, Julius searched through the libraries for any information. Only small scraps speaking of Runes, this one being a "cloud rune", could he find. The gem was brought in by a local fisherman who brought it up in his nets one day. The Local nobility was interested in the stone, but wanting to know more Julius stole the stone and ran with it. There was something greater in this world, and Julius wanted to find it.
