  1. Pokémon OR/AS Wonder Trade Rules (updated 11/6/19)
  2.
  3. 1. General Rules
  4. 1.1 - The wireless must be turned off when you are not using the Wonder Trade feature
  5. 1.2 - You must choose Mudkip as your starter, as they can learn all required HMs in order to beat the game
  6. 1.3 - Any Pokémon you receive must be Wonder Traded at the first opportunity. This applies to mandatory Pokémon (e.g. Latias/Latios) and Pokémon the runner decided to catch. See 2.2 for rules regarding this
  7. 1.4 - You may catch Kyogre/Groudon, but it may not be used and must be Wonder Traded away (See 2.2.1)
  8. 1.5 - Mudkip may be used in any capacity until the runner defeats Roxanne. After that point, Mudkip may not used to make any meaningful progress for the runner
  9.
  10. 2. Wonder Trade
  11. 2.1 - Prior to race
  12. 2.1.1 - You must catch a Pokemon prior to heading to Petalburg City
  13. 2.1.2 - Wonder trade this Pokemon away until you receive a satisfactory Pokémon under level 16
  14. 2.1.2.1 - If you receive a Pokémon on the banned list (see 5.), trade this Pokémon away
  15. 2.1.3 - If you receive a Pokémon under level 5, level it up to level 5
  16.
  17. 2.2 - During race
  18. 2.2.1 - When you receive a Pokémon, you must Wonder Trade the Pokémon away at the first opportunity
  19. 2.2.1.1 - If the Pokémon has a move preventing it from being traded (e.g. an HM, Origin Pulse, or Precipice Blades), they must be traded at the next opportune time:
  20. 2.2.1.1.1 - HMs can be traded from the Box, so trade it the next time you come to a Pokémon Center/PC
  21. 2.2.1.1.2 - Kyogre/Groudon must have their Signature Move deleted before they can be traded. Either teach a TM over it, or visit the Move Deleter in Lilycove City before challenging the next Gym
  22. 2.2.1.2 - If a non-story related Pokémon is obtained, the trade requirements match the last required trade (listed below)
  23. 2.2.2 - If you receive a Pokémon over the level threshold indicated below, or a Pokémon on the banned list, trade this Pokémon away
  24. 2.2.2.1 - Starter [Under level 16]
  25. 2.2.2.2 - Latias/Latios [Under level 41]
  26. 2.2.2.3 - Castform [Under level 46]
  27. 2.2.2.4 - Kyogre/Groudon [Under level 51]
  28.
  29. 3. HMs
  30. 3.1 - All 5 HMs that are required to beat the game can be taught to Mudkip
  31. - Rock Smash
  32. - Strength
  33. - Surf
  34. - Dive
  35. - Waterfall
  36. 3.2 - If all 5 HMs are to be taught to Mudkip, Rock Smash can be deleted in Lilycove City, as it is not required after defeating Flannery
  37. 3.3 - Cut and Fly are not required to beat the game, however they may prove to be useful in some cases. If a runner wishes to use one of these HMs, they must obtain a Pokémon that can learn them via Wonder Trade
