- Pokémon OR/AS Wonder Trade Rules (updated 11/6/19)
- 1. General Rules
- 1.1 - The wireless must be turned off when you are not using the Wonder Trade feature
- 1.2 - You must choose Mudkip as your starter, as they can learn all required HMs in order to beat the game
- 1.3 - Any Pokémon you receive must be Wonder Traded at the first opportunity. This applies to mandatory Pokémon (e.g. Latias/Latios) and Pokémon the runner decided to catch. See 2.2 for rules regarding this
- 1.4 - You may catch Kyogre/Groudon, but it may not be used and must be Wonder Traded away (See 2.2.1)
- 1.5 - Mudkip may be used in any capacity until the runner defeats Roxanne. After that point, Mudkip may not used to make any meaningful progress for the runner
- 2. Wonder Trade
- 2.1 - Prior to race
- 2.1.1 - You must catch a Pokemon prior to heading to Petalburg City
- 2.1.2 - Wonder trade this Pokemon away until you receive a satisfactory Pokémon under level 16
- 2.1.2.1 - If you receive a Pokémon on the banned list (see 5.), trade this Pokémon away
- 2.1.3 - If you receive a Pokémon under level 5, level it up to level 5
- 2.2 - During race
- 2.2.1 - When you receive a Pokémon, you must Wonder Trade the Pokémon away at the first opportunity
- 2.2.1.1 - If the Pokémon has a move preventing it from being traded (e.g. an HM, Origin Pulse, or Precipice Blades), they must be traded at the next opportune time:
- 2.2.1.1.1 - HMs can be traded from the Box, so trade it the next time you come to a Pokémon Center/PC
- 2.2.1.1.2 - Kyogre/Groudon must have their Signature Move deleted before they can be traded. Either teach a TM over it, or visit the Move Deleter in Lilycove City before challenging the next Gym
- 2.2.1.2 - If a non-story related Pokémon is obtained, the trade requirements match the last required trade (listed below)
- 2.2.2 - If you receive a Pokémon over the level threshold indicated below, or a Pokémon on the banned list, trade this Pokémon away
- 2.2.2.1 - Starter [Under level 16]
- 2.2.2.2 - Latias/Latios [Under level 41]
- 2.2.2.3 - Castform [Under level 46]
- 2.2.2.4 - Kyogre/Groudon [Under level 51]
