  1. A cookie in the hand is worth two in the bush

  4. There’s just something about cookies, isn’t it so? They’re superbly scrumptious and oddly comforting when you feel like you need a pick-me up. They can be quite handy to keep around when you start feeling peckish. Cookies are also a very good way of showing someone that you care. Feed them a cookie or offer one and thereby show you’re thinking of them.
  5.
  6. All in all, I’d say cookies tend to be a very positive thing. But what then when you feel you’ve had had your fill. I tend to want to clear the table of food when I am full, so to speak. The empty, dirty plates annoy me. Mayhap I’m a bit of a pedant, but still I like a clear table when I am full. Should I dunk the cookies in a bag in the kitchen or just toss them out? Saving them involves work, finding a plastic bag to put them in, finding a good clamp to place on it so they don’t go stale but keep fresh and nice.
  7.
  8. It’s about this time that you start to realize that the one cookie isn't the other alike. They're not mutually exclusive, so to speak. If you eat one cookie, the other cookie is never going to taste just exactly the same. And you start to notice the small differences in each cookie. There’s more chocolate on this one, more oatmeal in this one, a smoother surface on the third. Small, yet significant differences in each and every cookie.
  9.
  10. And you start to wonder if they might need different levels of attention. Maybe this cookie would like to be in a cookie box and have the company of other cookies. Perhaps the other cookie would like to be placed upon a cookie tray made of silver and the third might be the most comfortable in a plastic bag. Now, once you’ve settled where the cookie would like to be, there are other factors to take into consideration. The question of accessories comes to mind, would your cookie like to be served next to cake, perchance? Or would it prefer to be served in a display of cookies on a tray, mayhap it would be happiest being served alone, in a napkin?
  11.
  12. Next we have the beverage of choice. Some cookies might like to be dunked in milk; others may prefer being served next to a cup of steaming hot tea. Mayhap even a cup of coffee might be one cookies preference. Another cookie might fancy being accompanied by a tall glass of iced tea, or perhaps even lemonade.
  13.
  14. After you eat your cookie, it’s time to take care of the crumbs. Do you brush them off, perhaps use a small vacuum or just shake the table cloth/shirt/covers free? Is this the proper way of going about the handling of the left over cookie parts? Mightn’t it be so that you ought gather them lovingly in your hand before you dump them in the trash? Isn’t that the decent thing to do?
  15.
  16. Then you start thinking about how much time you’ve just spent thinking about your cookies. Is it really healthy to be considering your cookies for such a long time and in so many ways? Should the thought of the cookie’s beverage choice really be consuming your entire afternoon? Is this cookie relationship really panning out the way you had planned?
  17.
  18. Should you really be concerning yourself with the cookies placement on a plate to the point where you re-arrange the setting for a whole hour? Is it possible that you’re just getting a little too attached to your cookies? Maybe you should cut down? Maybe it’s time to realize you’re obsessed with your cookies and should switch to cake? Or perhaps cut them out entirely, you could just start smoking instead.
  19.
  20. Or you could just have another cookie. I mean they’re just cookies after all, you’re not emotionally tied to them or anything, I hope. So have another cookie and a glass of milk. Dunk it, munch it and move on, to the next cookie in its package. Because that's the way the cookie crumbles.
