- >The silence dragged on for what felt like months as you lean against the door, Lulu looking down at the floor as Sammy looks back and forth between the two of you.
- >"But wait," Sammy mutters in confusion "I thought that you mentor shot himself?"
- >"That's the official story, yeah" you reply, before dragging you hand down your face "But I had a washout friend who quit the Stress Tester training and joined the regular police who gave me a interesting piece of information, The Gunshot that killed him was to the back of his head"
- >Sammy gasped, almost instantly recognizing the implication behind the fact.
- >"As for how I know Her father was connected, Ozmund was one of the last people Agustus talked to before he died and then the motherfucker had the gall to try and grill me for information when I was visiting the Old Man's grave" You growl in obvious frustration.
- >That day had stuck in you head ever since, the wavy haired beanpole casually leaning on Agustus' Grave stoked a burning anger in your core that made you simultaneously enraged and sick, his easygoing smile and soft voice making you desperately want to punch him in the face as hard as you could.
- >"Why would he ask you Questions?" Sammy inquired, sounding both unsure and curious.
- >"Agustus had called me a few hours before he died" You reveal, and Lulu finally looks away from the floor, fixing you with a sad look.
- >"He told me to take care of Lulu, and to not talk to the RnD Stress Testers no matter what" You desperately wish you had a smoke right now, and your throbbing side is not helping in even the slightest "He sounded scared"
- >"Anon..." Lulu says, reaching out for you but seemingly rooted in place.
- >"I'd never heard anyone sound so scared in my entire life" you say hauntedly "I'd seen people dying on the street back in my slum days and not a single one had sounded so terrified as Agustus did during that phone call"
- >"But why would anyone want to kill Agustus?" Sammy asked "especially another Sterling Employee!"
- >"Sammy, I don't think that Ozmund was the one to pull the trigger" you say carefully "But I think that whatever he told his higher ups is directly related to Agustus dying"
- >And then it clicks into place, Lulu cringes as Sammy makes an affronted gasp.
- >"You mean to imply that Sterling itself is responsible for Agustus's death!" Sammy cries sounding at the same time scandalized and enraged.
- >Something in you twists in a nasty way, and before you can stop yourself, you lash out.
- >"I mean to imply that Agustus had dirt on everyone at Sterling and that certain powerful people in the chain of command would do ANYTHING to keep said dirt from becoming public knowledge!" You snarl back viciously.
- >Sammy recoils as if struck, shocked by the anger you'd directed at her, but before she can say or do anything Lulu takes her hand.
- >You suck in a pained breath through your teeth as you side violently throbs, and whatever Lulu was about to say to Sammy is lost as she rushes to your side, with Sammy following after a seeming moment of hesitation, and before you know it your Maidbots are helping you to your chair.
- >"I'm sorry that I snapped at you" you wheeze to Sammy "This is really hard for me to talk about"
- >After what seems like an eternity, once you're safely sat down Sammy replies.
- >"I-I'm sorry as well" She stutters in an un-Sammy like manner "It's just that, Sterling made me and I was taught that they-" she drifts off, unsure of what to say to articulate her feelings
- >"Can do no wrong?" you supply helpfully.
- >"Something like that" Sammy says, before realizing the time and looking at Lulu "Do you want to make Dinner, or should I?" she asks.
- >"If you could do it that would be lovely" Lulu says softly, patting Sammy's hand gently.
- >Once Sammy has left the room to prepare Dinner Lulu looks at you, before gently stroking your face with her hand
- >"What are you going to do now, Sir?" Lulu asks softly, worry obvious in her tone.
- >"First thing first, I'm going to have to start taking my medicine," You say resignedly "I have the feeling that I won't have the luxury of being distracted by pain in the near future"
- >Because you have a feeling you're about to go down a very dangerous Rabbit Hole.
