  1. That announcement changed my life, changed everyone's. Not only were we not alone in the universe, but our far flung neighbors looked almost exactly like us. Every media outlet and social media platform was abuzz, however the most people saw of our visitors were what looked like soldiers clad in shiny jet black armor, almost chitinous in nature like a beetle shell, The visors tinted black to prevent people from getting a look, or maybe to prevent the occupants of the suit from our sun. Two days in I ended up receiving another surprise. I had just glanced down at my computer clock, the time reading about 11:30 am EST, My mind was partly focused on our alien visitors with the other half wondering what I should play, my mind flipping between something on my PSP or a PC game. After finally deciding on what to play I settled down and fired up my PC. As X-Com booted I went downstairs to grab a drink, that's when I didn't just hear something I felt something, the house seemed to shake like a massive quake was occurring. I made a mad dash for my shoes, hoping to get outside in time to see what or where the noise was coming from. Rushing outside I looked around for the source of the noise; there in low orbit and steadily roaring over head was one of the alien craft. It's rectangular shape adorned with various view ports and running lights. At each corner was a massive cylinder I could only guess was the ship's propulsion system. While the ship itself was a dull almost rusted brown, a brilliant pair of cyan strips rang along the length of her sides as I saw her descend. I stood in awe as the ship seemed to touch down just out of view, the top of it's metallic hull peaking out from above the tree line. What took me a bit of time was realizing where it had touched down, and when it did the realization had hit me. It had touched down not far from my house, in a huge field about fifteen minutes or so on foot.

  3. I went back inside, unsure of what to do. This was basically my first chance to make contact with aliens, aliens that could speak our language and didn't seem outright hellbent on destroying us. My mind flitted however to the possible dangers, keeping me from boldly running out and greeting our visitors from across the inky blackness of space. In a bit of bargaining with myself I resolved to investigate the next day. I went back upstairs to see if news of any other ships touching down had been posted. Scanning the net lead me to various articles and some shaky footage of ships landing in various regions, some with the recording the language of the people capturing the spectacle. Part of me refrained from joining in with those who said they saw ships land close by, a sort of fear of being taken for interrogating lest either the United States government was looking for eye witnesses or by the aliens themselves. During my browsing I heard more noises from outside, this time the sounds were more familiar. Making my way to the window I looked into the sky and saw a small 4 man squad of fighter jets zoom through the sky, their engines no doubt burning red hot. My thoughts wandered to the possibility of military intervention as I saw more and more military aircraft fly through the airspace not far from my homestead. Again I found my mind going back to the military setting up a cordon, part of me waiting for garbed men and women forcing themselves into my home to usher me out to 'secure' the area. However, as the day went on nothing of that sort took place. Outside the seemingly rapid deployment of ground and air forces I was left unmolested in my home. With night approaching and the day's routine of eating, showering and the likes being completed I settled into bed, my mind working at a break neck pace on what I should do.
