  1. >Holidays in the Winslow home were always celebrated just a little more enthusiastically than other families might bother with
  2. >This almost always involved Mrs. Winslow putting together outfits for everyone in the family. This was sometimes even the ONLY thing they did, if it was a more benign holiday
  3. >However, the family's service androids, Vicky and Emmet, were usually left out of the fun
  4. >Sterling has strict apparel guidelines for their Nandroid and Botler lines of androids, and the androids themselves are usually quite adamant about sticking to only Sterling approved uniforms
  5. >But Mrs. Winslow is also quite adamant...
  6.
  7. >It's Saint Patrick's Day, and a fuss can be heard from the Winslows' master bedroom
  8. >A Botler stands in front of a mirror, wearing a rather despondent expression
  9. >Behind him is an energetic woman, who seems pleased with herself after dressing the Botler in something more festive than his usual uniform
  10. >"Mrs. Winslow, I don't know if this is... appropriate. And this hat, is it not a bit ridiculous?"
  11. >"Oh Emmet, please! You look DARLING! Just indulge me for today, won't you?
  12. >Emmet adjusts his outfit, particularly the shamrock pin on his chest
  13. >"I just don't know if the green is really... Sterling approved, ma'am."
  14. >"Oh it's always 'Sterling approved' this and 'Sterling approved' that with you, Emmet. Have some fun! No one outside the house has to know you look like a leprechaun today."
  15.
  16. >A dainty Nandroid is dusting knick knacks and the like in the hall
  17. >While passing near the master bedroom, she hears some light banter
  18. >"I really don't know if I'd say I look like a leprechaun, Mrs. Winslow! I'd say I'm a bit tall for that!"
  19. >Peeking in, the Nandroid is startled to see her Botler counterpart dressed in green, with a little hat and a tailcoat to match
  20. >The handiwork of Mrs. Winslow, who is doting over her accomplishment
  21. >The Nandroid peels herself away from the door, and thoughts race through her head
  22. >This Nandroid had been fretting over trying on new outfits in fear of being reprimanded for daring to step out of her uniform, but Emmet gets to dress up for the holiday? And by Mrs. Winslow's own hand, at that?
  23. >"That's so unfair!" She belts out
  24. >She slaps her hands to her mouth in distress, realizing she's well within earshot of the room
  25. >"Oh, Vicky! Is that you out there?" Mrs. Winslow called
  26. >Embarrassed and ashamed, Vicky hangs her head, crosses her hands at her waist, and steps into the room
  27. >"Yes Mrs. Winslow. I'm sorry for my outburst."
  28. >Mrs. Winslow waves away Vicky's woes. "Oh no no, don't worry. Come over here! I have something for you!"
  29. >Mrs. Winslow practically skipped to her closet as Vicky walked over to Emmet, who is clearly not having the best time in his festive attire
  30. >"Well, you look cute there, Emmet."
  31. >His cheeks glowing a hot red at the comment, Emmet responds. "I... Th-thank you, Vicky. B-but this is definitely not Sterling standard!"
  32. >Vicky rolls her eyes in envy
  33. >"Can't be so bad. It's still pretty stately, or maybe that's just because you're wearing it."
  34. >Emmet smiles nervously as he stayed silent
  35. >"I do think it's a little unfair though. Why do YOU get something different to wear, but I-"
  36. >"Alright Vicky, IT'S YOUR TURN!" Mrs. Winslow sings loudly as she exits her closet
  37. >Vicky turns around in surprise, seeing the lady of the house presenting a darling little overalls dress, with clover accents, poofy frills, and a cute little hat. And it all looked to be just the right size for a Nandroid... Or a very small teenager
  38. >Vicky smiled before a brief moment of concern overtook her. "Are... Are you sure Mrs. Winslow? I don't want anyone to think that I'm not in proper..."
  39. >Stomping quickly to Vicky, the Missus forces the dress into Vicky's arms. "Don't YOU give me the 'Sterling approved' schtick too! It already took me an hour to convince Emmet to put his outfit on!"
  40. >Vicky giggled. "Oh very well, ma'am, I won't object! I'll put this on right away!"
  41. >With glee and delight in each step, Vicky took the dress to the master bathroom
  42.
  43. >Moments later, the little robot steps out with the sweetest smile on her face, and wearing that adorable little dress Mrs. Winslow handed her
  44. >"How do I look, ma'am? Emmet?"
  45. >Emmet's eyes were darting back and forth, anxiously looking away and back at Vicky
  46. >"You look... Y-you uhh..." He chokes on his words before composing himself.
  47. "AHEM. You look very nice, Vicky. Mrs. Winslow's fashion sense shines through, as usual."
  48. >Rubbing her cheek to Emmet's, Mrs. Winslow gives Emmet a quick, gentle hug as she squeals
  49. >"OOoooohhh! He's right. You look great, Vicky! SO cute!"
  50. >Vicky was ecstatic as she walked over to the standing mirror. "Hehehe! Oh thank you, Mrs. Winslow! I really love it."
  51. >This was the first time Vicky had worn anything but Sterling approved attire, and it felt... So good! She was doing everything in her processing power to hold back her joy, lest she make a fool of herself
  52. >She still didn't dare to ask to try on other outfits. This COULD just be a holiday thing, and it'd be unwise to ask herself. But, for now, at least she knows it's not completely out of the question
  53. >And that made her so happy
  54.
  55. >Emmet stands next to Vicky as she stares at herself, lost in thought, looking into the mirror with her
  56. >"Well, at least we... sort of match, now." Emmet mumbled out
  57. >Shoving herself between the androids, Mrs. Winslow pulls them close
  58. >"My whole FAMILY will match, now! I'm SO happy I finally got you through to you two this year!"
  59. >The lady leaves the androids with smooches on their cheeks
  60. >"We're definitely taking a picture this year. Oooohhhh I can't wait for Hector and the kids to get home!"
  61.
  62. >Rubbing their cheeks that Mrs. Winslow had kissed, Vicky and Emmet looked at each other
  63. >"Huh... 'Family.'" Vicky quietly said.
  64. >"...Yes, she said that... now that we're in these outfits, her... whole family will match each other."
  65. >There's a brief moment of silence, broken by a light chuckle from Emmet as he confidently strides out of the room, a much different demeanor than he had only minutes ago as he lamented his outfit
  66. >"Come on, Vicky. We'd best help Mrs. Winslow prepare a space for the family picture."
  67. >Vicky smiled as she quickly pranced to Emmet's side to follow him
  68. >Once by his side, she playfully bumps her shoulder against him, getting a gentle laugh out of both of them
  69. >It may not be Christmas, but Vicky, and Emmet in some ways, both got what they wanted this holiday
  70.
  71.
  72.
  73. >...Emmet didn't much care for the hat, though.
