  1. so i just read through ztrot's post from a few weeks ago regarding the proposed ranking criteria. i don't map for ranking because i'm lazy, and if i could get a map ranked with just one of my difficulties then that would be ideal. and that's the exact flaw in the system that needed to be fixed. GDs are absolute cancer and while having 1 or 2 is fine, having 30 GDs of insanes and extras from bad mappers on meme songs was the problem that needed to be addressed. also by limiting the number of difficulties you can have, you're allowing MORE difficulties to be made, because mappers will have to map full spreads instead of just extras allowing for more easy/normal/hard difficulties. easier difficulties should be more of a focus of the game since they apparently take no skill or time to make and appeal to all the new players, nothing worse than having a mapset with 1 normal, 1 hard, 6 insane, 13 extra. limiting the number of difficulties gets rid of the cancerously bad examples out there. like, if you want to map a song, then map the damn song, don't force GDs onto a mapset just to get it ranked, and if you really want it ranked then surely you can throw in a full spread, it's not that hard if you're willing to take the effort to go through the ranking process.
