- Feel like going on a mystical journey through a beautiful world accompanied by amazing music with some relaxing gardening thrown in? Then Fujii has you covered, lets dive into this games amazing atmosphere beginning with objective and game-play.
- Fujii is the type of game that is really light on direct narrative and relies on your interpretation for whats going on in its world. Throughout my play-through I felt as if I was playing as an extension of mother nature in this new mystical world shrouded in darkness, from the very start it surrounds you, but as you walk around the plants grow wherever you go, touching plants make them spring to life and as such your goal is to spring life to this beautiful world covered in shadows. You play as human like creature with arms that are able soak up water by grabbing these sphere balls made of it, which by the way, looks and feels like a trip seeing your arms grow as they fill up with the stuff. The water works as another way to bring up the plant life around you and its creatures as well by shooting it out of your arms. The game takes place over 3 different areas with the hub world serving as your private garden where you can plant seeds you gather from your travels and place creatures you may find along the way. Throughout your journey you will have to solve some light puzzles, with that said the experience is more of a relaxing one than a challenging one so don't expect anything to cause you trouble advancing through your journey. Movement is done by teleportation through the analog stick with no options for smooth locomotion and your main way interacting with the world is by touching plants and wildlife, you have an inventory to store things such as plant seeds and spheres of light that are used to progress through locked door ways and purchase seeds or pottery in the hub world, when a hand is holding something such as a seed you are also able to stretch them out to reach things at a distance. The game in general feels really good to play and while I would of preferred smooth locomotion they made the teleportation fell good to use Next up lets talk features and content
- Fujii features an absolutely fantastic sound track that plays along with your actions in game, the games different areas outside the hub world feel open and explorable, my play-through time clocked in at around 2 hours and a half with a bit of that being spent on gardening around the hub world. The collection aspect of this game is certainly something that you can spend time on, from trying to find the creatures you can bring back with you to your garden, to helping your plants grow by touching them and giving them water, it can all be a very relaxing experience. Next up lets talk visuals and immersion
- Visually speaking Fujii is absolutely beautiful, the art style really pops with all the bright colors and it manages to look fantastic on the oculus quest hardware. When it comes to immersion the game does a phenomenal job at presenting its world. The visuals mixed with its soundtrack really draw you in, all the sounds produced around you really stand out. The game-play also feels very smooth which helps a lot in the immersion aspect as well, the animations of stretching out your hand or filling your arms with water both look and feel great.
- To conclude Fujii provides a relaxing and fantastic journey through a dream like world full of color and life, its soundtrack and gameplay really stand out as unique and well thought out. The gardening section of the hub world also provides another avenue for spending even more time in its world. Fujii is more of a relaxed experience then most other titles but one that is certainly worth checking out and I can easily recommend even though I do feel it would of benefited by being a slightly longer experience.
