The topic of my essay is about the need for a compromise between the two sides for and against net neutrality. Net neutrality is defined as strict set of rules that prohibit site and app blocking, speed throttling, and paid fast lanes by internet service providers. It is argued that net neutrality will protect consumers and smaller companies, but also affect ISPs and their services negatively by discouraging investment and innovation. This issue is not directly tied to my major or field of work, but the outcome of the net neutrality debate will affect everyone that uses the internet.
