42. (i.)
 43.

44. having a violinist mother and a cellist father means it’s in donghan’s blood to be musically inclined.. and he doesn’t exactly have a choice. since the beginning of his time, the only thing he vividly remembers is the way the keys of the piano felt against the pads of his fingers. they’re nice (for a lack of better words) and nicer when the notes actually ring into his ears. his teacher praises him, not because he’s the son of two musical well-knowns, but because he’s actually good. even if this path isn’t something he chose out of will, he doesn’t think it’s too bad.

45.
 46. a freak accident, is what they called it even if it was the farthest thing from an actual accident. the day donghan gets picked to perform as the finale, jealousy overcomes the two students he was going against. anger, jealousy, and a baseball bat really isn’t a good combination for anyone for it resulted in a shattered left hand that will need constant care and attention for it to heal properly. piano is out of the equation and his parents demand justice. but regardless of the efforts, the two students get hit with small charges for they are minors who are “so sorry” for what happened.

47.
 48. it takes a long time for his hand to be functional again. and while the prior annoyance has subsided for the most part, he still pays the two kids a visit and makes sure that they pay for what happened for the rest of their lives.

49.
 50. (according to rumors, the two were seen with identical casts on their arms, claiming that they fell off the staircase because one tripped onto the other.)

51.
 52. (ii.)
 53.

54. they say that divorce ends up being harder on the child than the adults involved in the fight to part ways. perhaps it's true, but donghan doesn't quite remember ever caring about the presence of his dad or, well, the lack thereof. so naturally, his mother worries that he's shutting himself in, keeping things to himself and pretending to be okay. honestly? he just really, absolutely did not care.

55.
 56. for the most part, that’s how he stays for the years that follow. there’s never enough to fully catch his attention, leaving him perpetually bored out of his mind. school is standard, people are lacking, life is boring — and just as he was about to pack up his bags and go abroad for a “change in scenery”, his mom announces that she is most definitely in love with a charming chef. at first, donghan doesn’t really know how to make sense of it because.. really, what exactly is love?

57.
 58. ironically (coincidentally?), the chef has a daughter that is donghan’s age. given the circumstances, things are understandably awkward between them while their parents disappear to carry on their romantic day. just as he is about to excuse himself from the entire situation, the girl offers him a cigarette as if it is something so casual between two middle schoolers. yet, he accepts and decides to indulge in what noticeably becomes the first step into chaos.

59.
 60. so, he decides that this is an alright change.

61.

 63.

64. when the step-sister announces her decision to attend university, it doesn’t take long for his mom to pull him aside to say that he will be going with her. nothing she says really makes any sense, especially since he didn’t even take the entrance exams to begin with. he just waves her away in his mind while telling her that of course, he’ll find a way to study harder to get in for next year.

65.
 66. yet somehow, he finds himself moving into the dorm of the university his sister is accepted into. no one questions anything as if it’s a silent consensus that this is something that will never be spoken of, even with years to come. it’s easier for him to just accept his fate and figure things out as he goes — this is his time to enjoy and try new things, right? right.

Layout by ~Tessisamess

</cut></lj-raw>
