- King Rion started to pull his sword back out, but King Arthur hit him across the arm so hard that he wounded him dreadfully, and King Rion left his sword in the shield. And when he felt that he was so badly wounded, he grew as angry as any could be. And King Arthur cast aside his shield with the sword, for it did nothing but hinder him. And when the giant saw that he had lost his sword, he became so angry that he almost lost his mind. He ran King Arthur down on horseback and grabbed him by the shoulders; he meant to take him down by raw strength, and he would have done so if he could have, for he was very strong.
- When King Arthur felt the giant on him, he threw his sword to the ground, because he was afraid that he might take it away from him by force. Then he put both arms around his horse's neck, while the giant jerked and pulled, but he could not take him out of the saddle.
