1. "Dammit Chrissy."
2. >"How many times have I told you NOT to call me that? I am the queen of the changelings and you must address me as so."
3. >You are Anonymous, and right now you're having a really hard time trying to be patient.
4. >It's been about a year and a half since you've arrived in Equestria, and times have been good. You have a job, you have great friends, hell you even have a weekly dinner with the princesses themselves. Life is pretty cush for the only known human in Equestria.
5. >However, you have a slight problem at the moment.
6. >"It's fine, isn't it? You should consider this an opportunity to get a new door."
7. >You bring a hand to your face and let out a heavy sigh. Standing in front of you is the queen of the changelings. Stuck in the skewed part of her horn is a chunk of your door frame.
8. "Can't you just... I don't know, duck?"
9. >She frowns and harumphs, "I bow to no one Anonymous."
10. "Even I have to duck a little bit to get in here! Pony doors aren't exactly built for tall people like us."
11. >This time she doesn't respond. She just stares at you, that ever-present frown on her face.
12. >The silence starts to get awkward, so you figure the best way to break it is to go back to what you were doing. Cleaning your house, that is. Only now you would have to order a new frame for the door. You turn away from her and decide to start where you're at, the living room.
13. >It's not much of a mess, luckily. There are a few dirty dishes on the coffee table and a couple of dirty shirts on the floor.
14. >You blame your laziness for the past few days... and Chrysalis.
15. >She's been coming here in secret for a week now, and it's starting to make you lose sleep.
16. >Chrysalis stands there, watching as you pick up the dirty shirts.
17. >You drape them over your arm and give her a dirty look.
18. "If you're just gonna stand there and watch me do chores then I'd happily escort you out the door. It's unnerving having the queen of the changelings in my house as it is, I don't need you watching my every move."
19. >"I have a question."
20. >You sigh, throwing the shirts onto your couch and turning towards her.
21. "Can it wait, or is it actually important?"
22. >"It is... important."
23. "Alright, ask away then."
24. >She seems surprised at that. She probably wasn't expecting you to humor her. Considering the things you've heard about her you can't exactly blame her for finding this strange.
25. >The same could be said in reverse, honestly. You have no idea what she gains from her daily visits. It's not like you love her or anything.
26. >Before you can think on it further she takes a deep breath and gestures to the couch, "Please be seated."
27. "You're joking, right? This is my house."
28. >"Very well. DON'T be seated. It matters not to me."
29. "Are we just gonna stand here all night going back and forth with each other?"
30. >"No! Erm... that is to say... I actually have a question if you'd just let me ask it."
31. "Like I said, ask away."
32. >Instead of the confidence she usually showcases, she fidgets a bit, scuffing the ground with her hoof. Just by looking at her expression it's easy to see that something is troubling her more than usual. "Why?"
33. "Why what?"
34. >"Why have you not reported me to the princesses?"
35. "It's not like you're planning another attack. You aren't, are you?"
36. >She shakes her head, her gaze falling a bit. "I thought about it at first. It only made sense to come back for revenge."
37. "So what happened?"
38. >"I realized they would just beat me again, and my people would be as hungry as they ever were."
39. >You let a moment pass in silence. It's not uncomfortable, but it feels unnatural, like one of you should be speaking.
40. "So uh... why here?"
41. >"Excuse me?"
42. "Why visit me all the time? What's going on with that?"
43. >"Oh..."
44. >She frowns and her eyes narrow, as if she is in deep thought, "You were part of the plan."
45. "I was?"
46. >"Yes. You have easy contact with all four princesses. I was going to see if it was possible to imitate you. When you... welcomed me inside like I were just anyone else... it caught me off guard. I'm curious about you. I'm wondering why you treat a potential enemy this way."
47. "One of the first people I met here was Discord."
48. >She perks up at that, her eyes widening in obvious interest.
49. "He pulled a few pranks on me. I'm glad Fluttershy was there to make sure he stayed under control. Honestly it was hard to tell he was reformed. I was pretty pissed off until the girls explained who he was to me. And you? They told me all about you, too. How you stormed the wedding... but also how the changelings were starving. I wanted to talk to you, like they talked to Discord."
50. >"I see..."
51. "Were Celestia and Luna ever open to talks?"
52. >"At one time they were... a long time ago. I cannot even remember which of us was actually in the wrong anymore. All I know is that negotiating eventually became impossible."
53. "Well then..."
54. >You hold out a hand to her and smile.
55. "I may not be a princess, but like you said, I've got easy access. How about we start from the top? My name's Anonymous, I run a small store in Ponyville."
56. >She raises her right hoof slowly. She's clearly unsure of herself, but you grasp it in your hand and shake it. "My name is Chrysalis. I am the queen of the changelings. I look forward to... learning more of Ponyville and the surrounding areas."
57. >You think you catch the hint of a blush on her face, but it's hard to tell with her skin.
58. "Alright, good. Just wait for a bit while I clean up. I'll bake you some cookies that you're absolutely going to
LOVE."
