- >Laika walked through the front door to her house and closed it behind her
- >Resting her back against it, she let out a heavy sigh. It had been a very long day at work and she was glad to be home
(Мама, I'm home)" she called out
(Welcome home honey, can you come over here? There's something we should talk about)"
- >Laika raised an eyebrow and kicked off her boots. She shuffled over on tired feet towards the living room
- >"Mr Loud?" Laika looked surprised to see the man, seated across from her mother as he greeted her with a wave and a smile
- >Becky smiled and patted the couch next to her, and Laika took her seat
(We were just talking about stuff. Important stuff...about you)" Becky smiled and the Russian girl noticed it seemed slightly unsure
- >Laika flicked her eyes over to Lincoln, his face appeared troubled "Мама...о чём ты?(Мама...what is the matter?)"
- >Becky wrapped her arm around her daughter and squeezed her into a side hug
You have the right to know"
- >Laika was getting nervous "Мама...о чём ты? (K-know what? Мама what is this about?)"
- >Becky took a deep breath and pressed her lips together, she turned to Lincoln and nodded at him, receiving a nervous one in return
- >"Laika....Lincoln is your father"
- >Those words repeated in the Russian's mind over and over, not making any sense to the girl
- >On the outside she gave no indication that the revelation had affected her in any way
- >Inside her mind finally processed what she heard and she felt a torrent of emotions wash over her
- >Her face and body language betrayed none of the turmoil she was feeling save for a small twich of her eye
- >Becky noticed and winced, knowing her daughter enough to understand that the girl was very upset
- >Laika took a long, shuddering breath as she tried to keep herself from breaking down "Is true?" she glared towards the man across from her
- >Her father, Lincoln, could only nod slowly
- >The tall girl stood up suddenly and took a step forward, locking eyes with the man
- >Lincoln got up and looked unsure as he met her eyes, as they stared at each other for what felt like minutes
- >Finally, quick as lightning; Laika lashed out and punched the older man in the gut, causing him to fall back into his seat and double over with a wheeze as the air left his lungs
- >"Laika!" Becky rushed over to Lincoln and asked if he was ok as she helped him into an upright position
- >"I-I'm fine" Lincoln coughed as she tried to breath "She has a hell of an arm, she didn't get that from me" he smiled with a pained expression
- >"When mother and I struggled in old country, where were you?" Laika grit her teeth and clenched her fists "Why did you come into our lives now, after so long?"
- >The Russian girl was shaking as she dug her nails into her palms, almost drawing blood
- >"We never needed you before, we don't need you now"
- >Becky walked over and pulled the girl into a tight hug, she stroked her hair and hushed her as the girl squeezed her eyes shut, feeling emotion finally overwhelm her
(Honey he didn't know!)"
- >Laika stiffened up and looked up at her mother with confusion
(Before I left for my internship , we shared a magical evening together. I didn't find out I was pregnant with you until I was already in Russia)
- >Laika looked over at her father, who nodded sadly "If I had known...I would've done something, anything"
- >Becky wiped a tear out of her daughter's eye "And that's why I never told him. He had a family here already, he needed to focus on that. Lincoln is a wonderful man honey, I would have never been with him otherwise"
- >Laika stayed in her mothers arms for a moment as no one spoke
- >Finally the tall girl spoke up "I apologize for the punching. I was upset" she shrugged with a sheepish look
- >Lincoln chuckled and waved her off "Its alright, its understandable after having something like this dropped on you suddenly"
- >"You wish...to make fatherly connection, yes?"
- >Lincoln smiled warmly "Yes, I want to get to know the daughter I never knew"
- >Laika looked away shyly "I have condition"
- >Her father nodded "Anything"
- >Laika frowned "Annoying girl, Lacy, must never know we are sisters"
