- During the part of Act III in Diablo III, the players needed to experience the'Sin Hearts'a tower with multiple levels going through Hell. The only thing that changes are on which levels; what else waypoints, narrative points, are in exactly the same locations, that types of monsters will look.
- This made the whole procedure of finishing quests predictable and repetitive, which actually hurt the game's replayability factor. A big part of the enjoyment in Diablo I and II was a feature which might have to be reintroduced in Diablo IV, that the randomness. Forget Blizzard's own motor; Diablo III's predecessors' Havok engine was a far greater feature which made the mining aspect so much more worthwhile, even though it did take.
- The Diablo franchise a part of the'dark fantasy' genre. However, this categorisation threw from the window when Blizzard removed many of those'dim' background elements. Fundamentally, Diablo III's images became too similar to those of the Warcraft family, thereby being completely out of touch with the first two games. There are a number of reasons to support this claim. First, Diablo III was the game which didn't feature the'light radius' concept. This small-yet-crucial detail made exploring dungeons more realistic, since the player couldn't see beyond their own line of sight, which meant more surprises because you journeyed further in.
- Secondly, in the games that were prior night, sunshine and rain were randomised features, changing the way the player researched. In contrast, Diablo III had locations with weather attributes that are set. These very small weather and components were crucial to adding to the ambiance. Finally, the background art was more cartoon-like and lacked some true detail or gore which made the game about fighting demons. In Diablo II, as an instance, you discovered dead bodies, pentagrams, trails of blood and other such details that created the wicked air come alive around you. Even though Diablo III had any of those details, the images were done in this manner that they did not increase the atmosphere in any respect.
