  1. “Did you think this was a police interrogation room where you would be served
  2. katsudon? Or were you expecting a scene of me presenting evidence sealed in plastic
  3. bags?”
  4. “Wait!! Why are you lining up wrenches and crowbars on the street!?”
  5. “Then again, recording things like they do in an interrogation room isn’t a bad idea. Or
  6. maybe a live broadcast would be better. I may not look it, but I know how to put on a
  7. blue-fin tuna dissection show. I can even show you your beating heart while you are still
  8. breathing. Do you know how hard it is to bring out the heart without using anesthesia?”
  9. “…!!!???”
  10. Fugan almost cried out in fear, but he managed to cover his mouth with one hand.
  11. Tsuchimikado had started by breaking his pinky finger.
  12. “Bbh…Bbah!! I-I get it…wait, stop!!”
  13. Next came his ring finger.
  14. And then Tsuchimikado reached for the man’s plump middle finger.
  15. “Stop!! Stop! I-I’ll talk…!!”
  16. In truth, Tsuchimikado did not have time to slowly torture the man. If an unrelated
  17. person came along and called Anti-Skill, it was all over. And a rotten weapons seller who
  18. dealt with the dark side would never break in just a few minutes if all Tsuchimikado did
  19. was punch and kick him.
  20. Not all pain was equal.
  21. Some was worth much more than others.
  22. How much fear could be produced with a single act of violence? That was where the
  23. preparations became important. It was not just in the medieval witch hunts that experts
  24. would line up cruel collection of overly musty tools with ominous stains still on them.
  25. Even if those tools were never used, they could still be quite effective.
  26. Tsuchimikado Motoharu was not only a member of the science side as a resident of
  27. Academy City.
  28. He was also a member of the magic side as an expert from the Anglican Church which
  29. specialized in inquisitions.
  30. “I’ll talk!! I’ll talk!! What do you want to know first!?”
