- RUNE FACTORY 3: A FANTASY HARVEST MOON
- -What is it?
- Harvest Moon with RPG elements.
- 4th game of the series. Yes. There was 1 spinoff (kind of, it's still a RF game) between RF2 and RF3.
- -Why Japanese/NOT Japanese?
- Text doesn't matter now, unless some version has less text boxes.
- By holding Select, the text appear at once, so the text speed doesn't really make a difference.
- As for why I use a certain version.. no special reason.
- -Since I can't understand just from watching, then what's the story?
- You're Micah, a guy who lost his memories. Yay.
- This game even lampshades this fact, IIRC.
- -What's in each building/why entering them/why talking?
- I must talk to everyone and enterevery building; it's my 1st request, and I can't do any others before completing this one.
- Starting from the Sharance tree, which is my home: going east, we have:
- *an Inn, which is ran by Shino, her daughter Sakuya and her adopted(?) daughter Pia. You can take a bath to recover HP/RP, buy rune abilities and monster drops. Finally, there's a very important person for a speedrun that may appear here: Yue! She sells a lot of things, even powerful magics that aren't available normally until later.
- *a Diner, where Blaise and his children Collette and Rusk live. Funnily, you can only buy kitchen utensils and breads here (breads are used to learn recipes).
- *more to the east, it's the plaza, used for events.
- From the tree, going to the south exit:
- *a General Store, ran by Hazel and her daughter Karina. Sells crop seeds, crops and food ingredients. Later, sells furnitures as well.
- *a Flower Shop, ran by Wells and his granddaughters Shara and Monica (well, Monica doesn't run, but probably will eventually =p). Sells flowers, flower seeds and magic seeds.
- *a Blacksmith, ran by Gaius and Raven. Sells weapons and equipments. Later, sells a barn (and expansions), forge and workshop.
- Southwest of this area, we have:
- *RAINBOW! Or rather, Daria's house. Also the entrance of Privera Forest, the 1st dungeon with a spring climate.
- Southeast exit from previous area:
- *a Fishing Resort, where you can fish hard-to-get fish for a price. Useful for normal play, but not used at all in the run.
- East from previous area:
- *Apothecary: ran by Marjorie and her granddaughter Marian. Sells herbs, medicines, magic weapons, magic attacks, cures me from statuses, and later sells a pharmacy for my house.
- *Mansion: Sherman and his daughters Evelyn and Sofia. Evelyn sells clothes and furnitures.
- East from this area is the entrance of Oddward Valley, 3rd dungeon and fall climate.
- Finally, from the tree, going west, we have:
- *to the north, Vale River, 4th dungeon and winter climate.
- *south, Sol Terrano Desert, 2nd dungeun and summer climate. There's a "hidden" Univir village here too, with 3 residents (besides monsters): Kuruna (the elder; they live longer, so she doesn't look old), Ondorus, and Zaid.
- -What are the glitches?
- Only one, but it's very useful.
- When you're buying something:
- *choose any item you don't want. The cheaper, the better;
- *move the cursor to the item you want to buy, or prepare to touch it (or both);
- *press A or/and touch the item you want;
- *before the item get to the lower right box, press X. Note that you can choose more than one item if you're fast enough.
- If you did it right, you'll buy the item(s) for the price of the previous.
- I believe you can now understand how powerful this is. Not only you can get easy money from it, but also some powerful magic, weapons, food, etc.
- Combining this glitch with Yue, it becomes awesome.
- -OK, so you can use the glitch with Yue to get good stuff, but isn't her stock random?
- Fortunately, no. It's a strange way to do something random, but it might be the only option they found to work like it works in the game. Who knows, I didn't make the game.
- Anyway.. her stock is related to when the game starts. This includes after a reset. The seconds will define what she'll offer.
- Here are some important Yue stocks:
- *Right at the start of the game: http://i.imgur.com/3lTQg.jpg
- *After defeating Skelefang: http://i.imgur.com/SlORS.jpg
- Sorry for low quality, but Imgur likes to downscale it, even though it doesn't have 1MB.
- How to look at it: the top left picture is her stock when the seconds point to 0 seconds. Going to the right, it increases by 1s each. Down is +10s.
- One more important thing: remember that the game takes a while to start, even from a reset. My DS, for example, takes about 1s to restart the game after a reset. So if you want a stock from 45s, you need to reset about 1s before.
- -Why Are those specific points important?
- *The first visit is where I get most of the things: Explosion, used for most bosses; Grand Impact, a useful hammer/axe rune ability; darkness, for the hardest part of the run =p; food to recover RP; dried sardines because they're one of Daria's favorites; and some other stuff I don't remember/not really important to list here/listed later/whatever.
- *Second visit is when Levelizers appear. You might understand what it does from the name: it levels you up from each drink you get. It's usually expensive, but note how they always appear with a failed dish. (From this, you might want to believe that they actually knew about the glitch and did this on purpose =p)
- -Daria? Why Daria?
- I need to marry someone to finish the game. I chose Daria because her requests are pretty short.
- Shara is pretty close too. But there's one request where I need to wait until 7PM. I had a route where I'd do a lot of things in one day so I wouldn't jsut wait until 7PM, but it was still annoying.
- Another thing is the fact that Daria gives me Platinums as reward, so I don't need to look for one. Shara doesn't.
- However, she seems to have her LP increased faster. I don't know if it really does.
- Anyway, Daria for me, thanks.
- -What are the necessary items?
- *4 Pink Turnips
- *4 Cucumbers
- *6 Spinachs
- *4 Turnips
- *1 Toyherb
- *1 Moondrop
- *1 Pink Cat
- *1 Charm Blue
- *5 Silvers
- *2 Platinums
- *1 Emerald
- *1 Ruby
- *130 wood
- *Don't know about money, I'll have a lot anyway
- Crops are for last dungeon. Flowers and most stones are for a bouquet. 2 Silvers and Ruby are for engagement ring (need at least 10/11 skill to be able to make one as well). Wood is for workshop and double bed.
